Hallo
If HTC doesn't offer current HTC One owners the choice of converting our phone to a Nexus experience HTC One, what are the prospect of someone with a Nexus experience HTC One can make the image available for us to download and put on our devices?
With s off and the same hardware..almost a certainity

Nice! Will most certainly look forward to that.
I definitely think that will somehow work. HTC has no reason altering the hardware, they can't afford any more negative criticism.

What does the term "s off" refer to?

Security off. Allows for write access to the radio and bootloader parts of the internal memory. With security on (S-ON) but with the bootloader unlocked, you have write access to the system, boot and recovery parts.
Isn't this just basically flashing a custom ROM to the phone only buying it instead?

I too, will be leaving the Vivid when my contract is up. Great "first phone" for Android, but moving on to the SGS3.

keep in mind if you're getting a One X and it comes with 2.20 on it, there's no root available yet. So it doesn't matter how many devs they have for the device, until they achieve root you won't be able to use any of their stuff.

yep so the vivid is currently looking like a better option LOL
Got the Vivid when it first came out - this phone can't help but create mixed feelings:
Cons:
- Phone is heavy
- Battery life so-so, especially now that LTE is active
- Difficulty to unlock the phone means limited developers
Pros:
- Nice big screen with good quality (at full-brightness, nearly as good as S3 or HTC One X)
- Good camera and GPS (coming from the Captivate which was disastrous in both lol)
- Has FM radio, external SD cards and removable batteries - most of the top Android phones these days are missing at least one of these
The difficulty to develop is probably the biggest downside, but after almost a year I've finally dived into custom ROMs. Unlocked the bootloader, got S-Off thanks to the wire trick, even SIM Unlocked! Using Holis ROM, which is great, should tide me over until next spring when I'm eligible for an upgrade.
So in conclusion, while the Vivid was subpar under GB, since ICS came out it's been really nice. But I certainly wouldn't recommend anyone buying this phone unless it was cheap.
What is a vivid. Its not available in the UK

Htcdev unlock it an you're set. Same as vivid.

Can't unlock the att one x (xl) without super cid which requires root. 2.20 has no root, so no HTCdev unlock. Att won't allow the bootloader to be unlocked
The intl one x as well as the s and v are htcdev unlockable

I think it's either called the Raider or the Velocity in the UK. As far as I know, it's Raider in Canada (I can confirm that one at least since I own one), and Velocity in Aus/NZ.

Already have boot loader unlocked and running a custom with 2.20 loving this phone just can't wait to get the one x + or if they make a nexus 4 with 32gig like that did the nexus 7 I'll get betting that instead so I'm just going to wait a few months or so and see what happens

It was a good run, but I think I'm going to retire my Vivid and get a One X+. Thanks to all the devs who continued to support the phone, after the situation. It's been great guys, thanks for making a great community around this little phone.
I can get the HTC One with Vodafone Branding for 360 Euro .. I haven't had a branded device before,
what are the downsides besides no OTA from HTC?
Is there a way to unbrand the phone?
You can root mate to get rid of branded bloatware. If not though your limited to carrier pushed out updates and if they do the cid way again regardless of if your rooted or not your stuffed
Shouldn't stop you getting it though. Hopefully HTC won't do the cid way again

They always do the cid way if there is carrier bloat. Because it's the carrier pushing out the software not HTC
Just hope for s-off or supercid

How likely will there be supercid or s-off?
For 360 it is a good deal, so I would be ready to take a small risk haha

We won't know until the device is released, more people have a chance to try
And those who already have a device that are working on it will remain quiet until it's released

I heard that with previous devices like the One S or One X+ there have been problems with getting s-off on bloated phones and changing the cid ..

The devices with sd cards are easier to exploit to begin with, especially the Qualcomm ones
They also recently found a common exploit with the Qualcomm processors
Since the one will have a Qualcomm processor we can hope a similar exploit is found

Thanks for the info .. I guess I will just go for it
It's a great phone even when I can't get it exploited.

My suggestion to all is to never buy a phone (besides a nexus) that you aren't happy to have with the stock software, just in case
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
That is how I felt about it, but it's a bargain for a great phone with already awesome software
I can wait for custom roms or go without
hey I'm new to HTC phones so whats the difference with bootloader unlock, s-off, and supercid?

unlocking the bootloader let's you mess with the /system, flashing kernel & recovery partition(using a PC only). Setting the phone to S-Off let's you flash kernels, baseband/radio, recovery, hboot(through your phone directly), Super CID I'd like to know also. This CID thing just came out on the One series so no idea what is it.
CID is HTC's way to differentiate between carrier and regional devices, also that's how they push updates and they started CIDs a while ago...

Do you know a way to restore the factory default lock bootloader ? ( not re-lock simply ) , eventually for warranty or service support....
Coming from the one X... Nope. Unless somehow we can get S-off which was near impossible with the one X. But you never know... Depends on the awesomeness of the devs

Hello guys!
I've been searching for a thread but couldn't find one with my question in particular. I've just bought a t-mobile branded HTC One here in The Netherlands. Can i just flash any normal HTC One ROM on it or does it need to be a specific t-mobile version or something?
Thanks
You should bring able to since S-off hasn't been achieved and radios are not an issue

I think you made a small typo, 'bring' is 'being able' hehe! But thanks allot!
Another quick question: What is the difference between the 'original one' development forum and the normal 'one' developement forum?
As we may all know the exclusive red htc one is on sprint as of now. I was wondering if this has a sim slot and if it can be unlocked to work as a world phone.

Ummm. Yes?
Why would it be different from any other HTC One? You do know that all LTE phones on Sprint have SIM cards, right? The One is one of the first to have it user accessible, though.
The answer to your question is yes, but it will only work with voice and very very slow 3G.
Yes it does have a sim. I was just in a Sprint store looking at it. It looks pretty awesome. I recently traded my black One for a galaxy note 2 and the phone feel so small in my hand now
