Hello everyone, new on forums but reading xda for quite some time. Now, I'm a proud owner of the One but i have some issues with it. I'm semi-noob in this area; i flashed roms and roms, rooted, flashed cwms, but it all went well, usually flawless, so I haven't faced the problems like this one. I presume it is a noob question, but i'm in desperate need of an answer because this is unuseable.
I installed CWM and made my device TAMPERED AND UNLOCKED after which I flashed ARHD custom rom. All was good but after flashing ElementalX my phone end up bootlooped on a logo (it was not optimized for this rom). I restored it BUT backup went wrong with backuping the data of apps and android_secure.img was missing, so itcould not load and read any of my 20gb of data on the device. i have (still) 3 backups and not only i can not delete them but i can only use one (MD5 sums match). I flashed a clean TrickDroid hoping that with following rules for a full wipe i will have a clean phone with only rom and few apps installed but instead things are still funky. I have 16gb of storage taken by unknown sources (those backups and files from cca. 100+ apps and big games (such as n.o.v.a. (i deleted obb files))) my folder with of music I backuped on my pc takes 15gb, but on phone it copied 10 albums and said that memory is full and that those songs have well over 10,12 mbs - they don't on a pc.
Any help? I tried to find and delete backups (with es file explorer and pc), I could not find them, I haven't mess with data because i don't know what I can delete. There may be a simple answer but I haven't find any so, with apologies if this was already disscussed, I would appreciate any help from you guys.

Howdy folks,
First of all, thanks to Cyanogen for 5.0.7!
After running out of patience on the the hope that TMo would come out with a new phone to compete with the Droid, Incredible, Evo, etc, I decided to root my G1. I wanted 2.1 and A2SD because I would love to buy more apps from the Market, but my G1 just didn't have the damn space... until now.
So I rooted my G1 using the Amon Ra recovery and CM 5.0.7.
After I rooted, I installed the latest radio (2.22.32.02), flashed Danger SPL, rebooted, flashed CM 5.0.7 and flashed GApps. I didn't do any wipes since I had never rooted my phone.
When the phone booted, the apps did not show up. So I went back to to recovery, did a wipe and flashed GApps first, then flashed CM 5.0.7 and rebooted. Everything works great. Runs fast.
I took the advice of a friend and installed SetCPU (paid for it) and Auto Memory Manager. I've noticed that my battery doesn't charge as quickly and that there is some noticeable lag on the phone. I had my phone plugged in all night last night and the phone wasn't fully charged. I finally uninstalled SetCPU and the phone is charging properly again. Also, the phone is snappier.
My questions:
1) Did I do something wrong by flashing GApps before the CM Rom? Do I need to do it over again even though my phone is working properly?
2) Now that my phone is working properly, do I need to create a backup/recovery?
3) After having successfully flashed CM 5.0.7, do I need to Wipe anything (ie ext 2, ext 3)? During the root process, I created a 96mb and 512mb partitions. From my understanding, the CM Rom occupies the 96mb ext and the 512mb ext is for A2SD. Why does the phone only show 457mb of space? I thought it should be 512mb.
4) I backed up all the data on my SD card onto my PC before formatting it during the root process. How do I restore all my apps and such so that everything works like it did before rooting?
Thanks for any help. Will be donating to Cyanogen

1.Your fine, as long as you flashed them and they show up your good.
2. If you want, and it definitely can't hurt. It doesn't look like you will be doing too many crazy hacks to it since your still a beginner. It's also better to make a stable rom be your backup instead of experimental one.
3. No idea, try a repartition if you get any problems, but don't mess with it if it ain't brocken lol.
4. How did you backup your data? Did you use a backup app from the market? If so, download the app you used and put all the files from your pc back onto your memory card. Then, hit the "restore" option.
Welcome to XDA! Here is a mod for a black notification bar by cloverdale that I prefer to the plain white one. Flash from recovery if you like.
Thanks for the reply.
#3. I didn't use a backup app. I just copied everything onto my hdd. Am I SOL since I didn't use a backup app and just have to reinstall everything manually?
So your phone stores its apps on INTERNAL, and you copied files from your SD(EXTERNAL) stop and think for a minute if your apps are on A and you copied B, your apps are gone.

I messed up. What I wanted to say is that some of the apps that I had installed on my phone also had data/database files associated to it that it saved on the SD card (ie Aldiko, OI Notes, etc) Is there a way to re-associate those once I reinstall those programs? I re-installed Aldiko and it would not read the library db file so I had to re-download the books. I should have used a backup app. Well, live and learn. I'm going to re-install OI Notes and OI Shopping and transfer those files over to see.
Update: Well, looks like it didn't work. OI Notes and OI Shopping doesn't read the files I had created before rooting. Should have use a backup program.
Which is better: Titanium or Mybackup Pro?
ive been running CM for quite some time, and ive always flashed over the recent versions without any major issues, but over time ive got many, many files that have been created and abandoned on my SD-Card and felt that it is getting close to a time for a fresh start... my biggest issue is how to 'document' all of my installed apps so i make sure they all get re-installed after a total wipe of the phone and sd-card.
im not really concerned about and game status as long as i atleast get the game back (most are free from the market)
i used ta use titanium, but had issues with restoring files and it over writing something and soething else breaks, so i havent used that in a long time (maybe something i should look back into?)
im looking for suggestions here, if i wanted to wipe my entire phone, and start clean, but wanted to make sure i got atleast all my programs back, what would you suggest?
Steps:
1. full system backup, and full SD-Card copy
2. ???
currently useing RA 2.0
radio 5.08
CM 6.1 RC1
ive only got 24mb left of internal space, but everything possible has been moved to SD card... should i start looking into apps2SD card mod from dark?
download appbrain and sync your file list.
You'll have better luck with Titanium Backup if you prevent it from trying to restore system apps or data. Go to the backup/restore tab, tap the bit to edit filters, and filter to show only user data and application. Then do your batch restore.
+1 for Titanium Backup and the batch makes it simple!
First of all, I am posting this thread here because I can reply in a thread about CWM, since topics are located in the Dev part and I, as a new user, dont have the access. To get it, it would take me an hour or so, to get 10 posts.
Back to this thread...
So yesterday I rooted my LG Optimus 2x using this Guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1327599
and I did everything as listed.
Then I downloaded ROM Manager and tried to download a CM7 ROM. First I had to re-flash CWM Recovery (for some reason). After that I tried to backup my ROM(Stock 2.3.4, flashed without root, LG support is great yay!), but when it rebooted and launched CWM, nothing happened.
I couldn`t even select a command by pressing power button. I was worried, but since I did nothing to the ROM, I pulled out the battery. Since I knew there was a backup option when downloading the ROM, I downloaded it and again, when CWM launched, nothing happened. This time I could choose commands, so I went on and rebooted.
So I did it manually, downloaded gapps and CM7, placed them on my 1gb SD card. Launched into CWM, made a backup, wiped data, cache and partition cache. Installed CM7 from SD and Google Apps. Rebooted and the nice CM7 Launch Screen appeared.
So until now everything went seemingly well. When I did the setup I noticed the Google Apps were missing, but I didn`t mind that. That was the only problem issue.
Today I tried to take a picture, but I couldn`t because my SD card was full. First I was confused, since the Camera shots used to be stored in the Internal memory.
So I plug the phone into my PC and checked the External SD card. The Back-up ROM took all the space and I am quite bothered, since I have planned on changing my SD card.
Now I wrote all this just in case I did something wrong, but here is the question:
Can I somehow move this back-up to my Internal storage and not lose my Back-Up.
Where is CMW installed?(I had to re-install it again after ROM flash. ROM Manager remained on my phone, while other apps go deleted.)
Now this is quite a lot of text, but I am a newbie, and I need to know if I messed it up.
Thanks in advance!
CWM are installed to an own partition (cant remember wich one, but that doesnt really matter)
Just move backup folder from /sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/*BackupDate* to /mnt/emmc/clockworkmod/backup or something like that,
Try and see
When I connect the phone to PC I get to folder, the External SD one and Internal(5,5gb). THere is a folder called clockworkmod, but I cant see the mnt and emmc thingys.
Is it allright if i copy my whole backup folder there(there is a download folder for CM7. I can delete that can`t I, for storage space purposes.)
Ty
Should work
Hey guys, I posted this over on the AT&T Q&A two days ago, but haven't gotten a response, so i though't I'd throw it over here to get some help:
I've recently came back to Android after a longtime hiatus with iOS. Nonetheless, I've acquired a 64GB HTC One. Although they guy I got it from didn't specify it being rooted, the device has been, and I even found a rom.zip on the root of the card. I've since deleted it, however, I believe it was labeled "Stock AT&T, Rooted, Deoxed". That's all fine and whatever, as I planned on rooting the device anyway, however, I have a HUGE "Other" usage under storage. The total size of it is 14.75GB. Can someone explain what in the world is taking up that much space? I've ran an analysis using ES File Explorer, but it shows the folder taking up the most space is my music. I can't pinpoint where all this data is.
As far as I am aware "Other" includes system data and other files required by HTC; 14.75GB is A LOT, though, so I am assuming there is something wrong with that. I'd move the data I want to keep to my computer, fully format the device, install a ROM (custom or w.e) and then move that data back and see if there is still 14.75GB being occupied by "Other".
what android version do you have? if its on 4.2.2 you might have some sdcard files that havent been deleted from an update
This thread can be closed. I appreciate the help, guys, but I actually got the nerve to flash Android Revolution and it cleared everything up.
Hello all, and pardon the newbie question from me, as I've only really used nexus or AOSP ROMs on my devices.
I was searching the forums, and I found quite a few posts that were asking for help on fixing formatted internal storage resulting in a corrupted OS, but I was wondering how I would go about clearing my internal storage to make more room?
I'm currently using ARHD 12.1 (About to upgrade to 12.2) and I'm confused on why I only seem to have 16GB free with about 13+GB being used in the "Other" section.
I have a backup of my apps (1.5GB including data) and a backup of my ROM in TWRP (2.5GB) Even adding another 1GB just to make my point... would only render 5GB total used... so where is the other 8GB of data being stored?
Any help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'm having 19.86 GB used, 8.6 in the "other" category
a opened the internal storage on my PC and added all the folder's sized by a calculator and the sum was about 12.65 GB.
almost same as yours
there is a video on youtube (I didn't watch it yet) about a fix for the One's internal memory after the 4.2.2 update.

I always make a backup every week, and after new ROMs. I know where the TWRP backup is, and I have moved it out, but there is still A LOT of space being used.
The settings in HTC Sense 5 aren't all that detailed, tapping the text in the storage settings works on pure AOSP ROMs but not in Sense.
The file explorer doesn't add up, and I feel that there are a lot of unused files there that were left over from previous ROM installs.

[POSSIBLE SOLUTION]
I was able to find this video that seems like it will do exactly what I want.
I'm going to try it later tonight and I will report back. Its basically just wiping the internal SD Card through TWRP (or choice recovery) and sideloading the Zipped ROM back to the phone. A bit riskier than I would like, but it seems like it will do the trick. Thanks for all the help though
Okay, so by following the video tutorial by TheSmokingAndroid found HERE I was able to clear out the space. Here is an "after" screenshot for comparison. This is a fresh install of ARHD 12.2 with only the Google apps installed.
I hope this helps some people regain the space lost in the 4.1 to 4.2.2 transition.
MODs - Please mark this thread as "solved" as it has fixed my original issue. Thanks

so this is how you fix it
1- get EX Explorer (or any Root Explorers) you have to be Rooted
2- go to your Root folder wich means "/"
3- there is a folder called "Storage"
4- inside there is 3 folders
5- if you will flash ARHD 12.2 i suggest you to delete every thing in that folder (it will delete your files like music, documents,,,etc)
6- if this didnt work your can install RUU and it will fix it
