[Q] LGOptimus 2x Boot loop - LG Optimus 2x

Hello friends
i need help after i try to install custom rom using rom manager my Lg optimus 2x went into boot loop, i tried factory hard reset(Vol down+power), pc doesn't detect my phone when i connect(3 diff computers). if i remove battery and press vol down switch and connect phone to computer it show "s/w upgrade screen". phone get charge when connected to computer.
please help, if anybody tell me how i can make my phone get recognized by computer.
thanks

Your user name suggest me that you have a LG P999 which is LG optimus G2X. So, before you do anything can you check the sticker under your battery what does it say? If it says that LG-P990, then download the drivers from here and install, then try to flash a rom again with smartflash. If the sticker says LG-P999 then go to this forum.

Thanks for reply, but luckily i managed to get driver installed on WIn 7 and used Nvflash and ClockworkMod Recovery to install Jellybean. happy that phone is running, but i am disappointed with signal quality and battery life. i am not buying any lg phone for sure.

[Q] Help me pls.. I think I've really bricked my P990

Hi all kind bros and sis,
Please help me out as I think I've really bricked my less than 2 months brand new Optimus 2X..
You see.. I rooted my P990 using unlock root and chanced upon CM7 and thought of giving it a try. I installed clockworkmod and downloaded the stable release of 7.1 for Optimus 2x.. following the instruction to do a Nandroid backup and proceeded with the Mod..
Not knowing that I need to wipe everything including data.. I just selected the Dalvik cache wipe and proceed with the mod. The process went for more than 15mins and I saw some graphics (the android figure going round and round) but it just stuck there... the screen went blank and when I touched those home or back buttons.. they will lighted but nothing happens. I can't power it off also. So I manually took out the battery and put it back before powering up again. The android picture appeared again briefly for about 1 min and just hanged there. I took out the battery again and this time it was dead.. no matter what I press : vol + and power buttons together; home+Vol+ + power down; Vol- + power down.. all those do not revive the phone.
I tried taking out the external SD card and try powering up. The LG logo appeared and got stuck there.
I searched on Google and found the smartflashtool. I tried that and managed to install the NVidia boot recovery driver and stuff correct. Hold the vol+ button and power key before plugging in but the smarttool did not find the com port or communication driver whatever so I couldn't flash it back to stock.
I'm very desperate and stuck now... did I just accidentally burned the board or something? What bad luck I have
If that's the case, will I still be able to bring the phone back to LG service centre and get it repaired?
Please help me.. any kind souls out there. I really liked the phone and hoped to bring it back. else it's such a shortlived phone... really breaks my heart to see this..
Thanks in advance...

Try using SmartFlashTool, download the LG stock ROM (can be found here in XDA forum, i'll help you find the link), flash the .bin and .fls files.

Turn off the phone. Hold Vol-DOWN while plugging it in. Start Smartflash and see the com-ports magically appear.
Follow trymhansen's instructions. He helped me before with my softbricked phone.
I hope you get your O2X back to life! Keep us posted
Best of luck to you!
PS. I also believe you should pull out the battery after turning off the phone in Trym's instructions. Trym correct me if I'm wrong please.
Hi All,
Thanks for your kind replies. I did follow your instruction. Take out the battery (I removed the ext SDcard as well), press and hold -vol and plug in the phone via USB. Afterwhich start up smartflash tool.. still nothing happens and no com ports are found.. The version of smartflashtool that I used is Dec 2010. Do I need to get the latest one and also the LG united drivers installed?
I also tried starting smartflash tool before the sequence.. still the same. BTW.. my OS is Win 7. Is it supported?
Really at my end's wit. Hope I can bring my phone back to life soon and I'm not really bricking it. I heard Samsung phones are not that easy to brick and can get to the recovery mode pretty easily. is it true?
Please help me.. thanks
Hi bros,
Attached are my screenshots from the device manager and smartflash tool... both seems not able to find the phone and allocate a com port. I've tried installing the latest LG mobile driver 3.6 but no help as well
Have you followed instructions as described here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1008070 ?
Also, try to attach your phone directly to computer, using usb ports from computer mainboard. I have experienced problems when attaching it via extension usb cord or attaching it to computer case ports. (I hope that you can understand what I have mean to say with usb )
Hi Memhis,
Yes.. I followed exactly the instructions from the thread and I've plugged into a USB port directly to the computer which is one of the ports in front.. not via any extension or USB hub.. still it did not detect.
I'll try to use another computer which is running Win XP and try again. I've downloaded those 3 files from that thread you recommended try using those instead.. hope it can be detected this time else I think I'll have to send to LG service for repair tomorrow.
I've been jailbreaking and modding my Iphone a lot and everytime whenever there's a near brick situation.. I'm able to fix it but not this time with an Android or LG perhaps... I hope I don't have to go to the extend of using ADB low level to push some files which I saw in one of the thread that one of the guys did that.. but I doubt I can since my windows can't even detect the phone!!
Maybe this will be my first and last LG phone if I ever get it repaired...

launch smartflashtool first, extract the .fls and .bin files, hold down volume at the same time plug in the usb port to your comp. you must see a s/w updating logo in your phone's screen and smartflash should detect your phone. then click start!

Hi mrgian,
I just tried to revive my phone by using the same method on a different laptop running on Win XP.. plugged directly to a side USB port but still no luck. There's no s/w updating logo appearing on my phone and smartflashtool also failed to detect my phone. I've found another thread opened by another user and my situation is exactly the same as his :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1161583
But lucky for him is that he's able to get it working after changing to another PC but I've tried 3 different machines and no luck so far...
I'll try to use the NVflash as a last resort and see if I've any luck with NVflash at all.. If it failed again.. I think I've no choice but to send it to the repair centre for servicing then..

Yes.. I've installed the latest LG united mobile driver version 3.6. Any wrong with that version... Really don't know where / what is missing or my phone is really fried after just one mod attempt?
I've also tried NVflash and it's stuck at the "bootloader initialization" screen....
Nothing appeared on the phone... not even LG logo. Can't believe LG phones are so fragile and unmodifiable

try to charge the battery first...power off your device and charge it...maybe leave it charging for about 1hr even if you dont see anything on the screen( i believe after plugin the charger you will see the charging logo but it will disapear after a few seconds)...after 1 hr unplug and try to check if it will boot to clockwork recovery...if yes then just do complete data wipe...also try installing the ext3 back.zip, it will help delete system files(sometimes CWR is not deleting this)...hope this help

When you say an USB port in the front do you mean an USB in the back? Because the ones in front are the case ones, the ones in the back are the good ones, i.e. the ones that are directly attached to the mobo.

How to enter CWM? I can't even power up the phone and no reaction at all when plugged into USB via smartflash.. the screen remains black. It's liked the whole phone is burned or something... but strange thing is that it can detect APX and asked to install drivers... but after successfully installing the Nvidia boot recovery driver.. the com ports does not get discovered.. What is wrong?

I plugged in the phone with battery but there was no charge logo or whatever.. the screen remains blank.. I'll try to leave it charging and see what happens. But I've remembered there was still about 80% power when this disaster happened and I've taken out the battery since.. so the charge should have remain? Btw.. where can I get this ext3 back.zip and how to use it? thanks

[Q] Semi-bricked / Smartflash tool not working

Hi
I'm helping out a friend, which O2X I have rooted and flashed WIUI on to (I previously owned one myself too)
For some reason the phone started to get hot after a while and used up the battery fast, until one day where he couldn't even turn it on again.
Now, he has been trying to fix it himself with NVflash, but no luck, so now its up to me and you guys.
I have used the smartflash tool and flashed the EURO OPEN stock ROM and everything went succesfull, but when the phone reboots, the LG logo appears, and it bootloops.
I tried both with battery and no battery in, but still no cigar.
Any suggestions what I should try next?
PS: If I try to turn on the phone normally, nothing happens. not even a blink from the screen, but I can get into S/W mode and APX
Try lg update tool, choose recover as option, then choose imei as entrance

EDIT: The software says the update is not compatible (dunno if translation is correct, but you get the point)
Update is aborted :/
No more suggestions on what to do?
Tried:
NVflash
Smartflash (Flashed EURO OPEN rom)
LG Update tool (recover function)
The phone still won't boot.
Smartflash is the only solution like you said that the phone can boot in s/w mode try to dig some answer in smartflash thread or search in google i know you can find some answer there
Sent from my Optimus 2X using xda premium
Assuming you have carried out the procedures correctly, looks like this device is actually defective. Probably not what you want to hear, I know, but...
Before giving up completely, you can NVFlash it again (using the original 10C NVFlash from Modaco) and post the log here. Wouldn't get my hopes up though.

[Q] Optimus 2x will not turn on, or the signal

I have an Optimus 2x, was doing the upgrade version of the android recovery mode and after finishing the installation hung up and he does not care anymore. Tightness in power and nothing happens ... but it charges the battery, and when I connect the phone without the battery in the pc it finds the APX driver.
by pressing the power even plugged in the charger nothing happens ... what do I do?

hi, iv rooted my lg optimus 4x HD device,

after that iv installed cwm by the instructions in this link:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1826378
when device reboot, it gets stuck on the lg logo screen and wont resume.
iv tried:
1. reboot
2.all types of wipe the device is not recognized by my computer, and pressing vol(-),

Did you try to hold the - key down while plugging in a usb? (pull out your battery) if that succeeds then you should use kdz flash tool to revert and AIO Tool by OS_Hacking to get a proper recovery.

[Q] LG Optimus 2x stuck after flashing

Hi,
I’m trying to upgrade my Wind Mobile Optimux 2x from 2.2 to Android 4.2.2 (CyanogenMod Nightlies). The Clockworkmod identifies my phone as LG G2X; I tried to manually select Optimus 2x but flash recovery failed. I kept it as LG G2X but each time that I tried to flash with a P990 ROM (Optimux 2x), it was unsuccessful and I had to factory reset it by pressing Power and volume down key.
This time, I selected P999 ROM (LG G2X) as I read that it’s the same as Optimus 2x for T-Mobile...but now it stuck at the LG logo (with blue/purple background lines) and pressing Power and down key doesn’t work anymore and it stops at logo again instead of resetting.
If I hold the volume down key until second LG screen, it shows: S/W Upgrade Please wait while upgrading... and it stops there forever...
What should I do to resolve the problem? And is there a way to go back to factory setup mode?
Thanks

First of all, check the sticker under your battery for whether your phone P990 or not. Please let me know what type of phone do you have P999 or P990

It's P999. I spend several hours to research about it and tried different applications...One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-04-28-12 and CWM_5.0.2.8_P999 cannot flash the device and give the partition download fail error, maybe because I previously used AIO-P990-ToolKit_v5.6 to nvflash it as APX drivers are installed and USB cable is working well. I tried different custom recovery versions using AIO, ICS-cwm-6.0.3.1, ICS-cwm-6.0.2.5 (before knowing that I have to use G2X), ICS-cwm-5.0.2.8e and ICS-cwm-5.0.2.0 but was not able to flash it as it goes back to recovery mode after rebooting, instead of running the new O/S.

I can do for you a nvflash for your p999. It will recreat all partitions and etc and will flash cwm p999 recovery to your device. Search custom roms on the optimus g2x forums. It will take some time since i have to download a stock p999 rom and gather the necessary files
Download my attachment and run flash.bat. It repartitionate your phone to p999 layout and flash cwm as well. Do not flash p990 custom roms with cwm to your phone, because p990 and p999 partition layout is different.

Thank you for your reply. I finally could flash it using G2XCleanUpBatch5028. It turned out that CM7 unlike what I thought is 2.3.7 not 4.x and I already found some problems in it...I'm trying to find the original Wind Mobile ROM and a way to install it back on my phone to keep it as my factory reset backup to return back to it in case that I could not find a reliable custom ROM.
By the way, I'm wondering what's the difference between your attachment and the one (G2X_V21E_00_NVFlash) that comes with 450MB ext3_system.img file?

My version of nvflash I skipped the system image, because I assumed that you are going to flash a custom rom. So that 445 mb differnce is teh missing android OS.
You can find your original rom at http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/csmg/b2c/client/auth_model_check2.jsp?esn=0000000000000000 , replace the zeroes with your IMEI number. It will give you the download link for your current stock rom. It is in kdz format. If you having troubles flashing kdz, then give me the link to your kdz and I am going to make you a nvflash rom from that.
