I am unable to download files from any web browser I have installed ... Stock, boat, dolphin, opera.
They all say download unsuccessful.
I can however download apps through play store. Browsing websites is working okay.
Anyone else having this problem. It is quite frustrating.
CM10.1 ROM build 4
Thanks.

Just confirming, do you have enough free space on your sd card? Sounds a bit silly, but most of the times when downloads fail even on a stable connection, it's due to this.
Apps from play store are downloaded onto the data partition, so they get downloaded even if the sd card is full.
Also, many free file servers have incompatibility with mobile browsers.

My SD card does have enough free space.
Strange as it has only been happening since I moved to jelly bean.

When I moved to JB I found out that, don't know why, my downs were going into de internal memory. Only by a root explorer I could go there and move to SD card. Thus, I couldn't down anything as I was without memory.
What is interesting is that I have just tried downloading a file from goo.im and it worked. I think the earlier post regarding the types of website sounds plausible. So my next question.... is there a web browser available that is not affected by this problem?

I use firefox for downloads as it has never failed me when I need to download something. All my other browsers will sometimes fail the download or download a .htm file, making it useless. Firefox has never had this problem for me, and always download the file. Hope I helped, and good luck.

I see you got it working. That is the reason I went with Dolphin HD last year sometime. Even with the hacked stock browser agents set to desktop I would not always be able to download anything on occasion. Plus with the Dolphin HD I can set it to save on internal or external SD card, cannot remember if the hacked stock browser would let me save stuff to the external SD card.

Of you could get the app "Download All Files" . Works perfectly.
Hi,
i want to install several games such as pinball HD and FBF
i have copied the APK files to /sdcard/download using ES file explorer
then i try to install a game and i get out of space clear some apps.
which is strange since i got 5 gb free on the device...
what am i missing here?
thanks .
Your data partition are 'only' 1,5G. Many games downloads data and stores it there. As example my Modern Combat 2, the apk: 3.91 mb, data folder about 230 mb...
Search for links2SD in market, it might help you
Sent from my LG Optimus 2x using XDA Premium App
the data folder is on the built-in sd card, in the gameloft folder...
Do i really need app2sd ? I was figuring that in 2.2 its not needed the phone is supposed to be able to install to sd by default besides gameloft games....

P.s i fixed the problem had to restart the phone everything is fine now thanks for the help

First note that I am on official 4.0.4 USA rom (USA model) that is stock but rooted.
Downloads from any browser won't work (chrome/stock/firefox) but I can download off say Tapatalk or within apps. So long as the link isn't to a mirror (file sharing website) it seems that is has something to do with the "downloads" app. As if it won't accept downloading through that app. Anybody else have similar problema/found a solution.
Also if somebody doesn't mind posting the downloads app (for stock 4.0.4 p7310) and see if I can delete then install to see if that works.

I once had that prob on a froyo rom on other device. Maybe the file u r dwding isnt supported by the device. I think dolphin browser can handle this bug. It has an external dwd manager.

The files are there. It's just the Download app doesn't know that they are. Use a file explorer to look in /sdcard/Download

Thank you both for replying. After flashing a rom and still not being able to download stuff I done some cleaning up I my sdcard partion. I Found a "file" called downloads.txt. After deleting the file downloads can now happen. I believe the problem is caused but how Android manages downloads. As the was no directory for downloads it was trying to download items into /sdcard/downloads. As that directory was a file (not even sure how that one happened) and not a folder it would attempt then fail.
You should change. txt to the original file extension e.g. zip

I am on official indian jellybean updated via kies, unrooted. I keep getting this message many times a day: Application being closed due to low memory error.
I did a factory reset and just restored my smemos before the upgrade. I also formatted the internal memory and sd card. Anybody else got this and any solutions?

Our problem seems to be never ending. Same thing happened to me. I had a backup of all the apps that i had in ICS using titanium and restored after installing JB and got the low internal memory warning . No idea whats happening. Used rom tool box to assign apps to be installed in SD card. Lets see what happens.
My warning is not about internal memory but ram. I have about 65 apps installed, had 95 on ics, though it was a bit non smooth but there wasn't any lag in opening apps but with jellybean opening apps lags like hell, especially gallery and snote app :banghead:

This update is worst than the leaked jelly bean.

Official JB
I've used the official JB for a long time and I dont think it's so bad. The RAM issue can occur on any system. I keep only favorite applis and delete never used applis, my RAM has always 200 MB free.
Remove the system apps using tb which you don't use in daily like google+, samsung apps, etc. Then you can get a smooth jb rom

I need help, currently my os is the jellybean version. All along my fone always have lots of apps running behind til I reduce to 6-8 apps. But lately I try to update apps, it prompt me insufficient memory. I tried my ways to stop apps to run but still can't. I check my device memory is only 202mb. Usbstorage got 7.52gb. May I ask wat is the root problem. I really wanted to do a hard reset to factory setting. Anyways can help...
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Hard reset on jb isn't safe. If you have not root your phone then root with philz safe kernel. Then only do hard reset.
Everytime you uninstalling an app make sure to clear data first so that it could free some memory which previously used by the app.
Your running out of storage memory or ram?

Is your device rooted?
When you open file manager how much GB does it say available in "sdcard"
It's always so much harder when you have to try (David Gray).
OK. When I open the file manager, my sd card definitely have enough memory cos I still have 24gb memory. I believe is my device memory in the fone, giving me problem.

I got this msg... can anyone tells me how should I rectify it.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Device rooted? If you are, go to folder root/data/log and delete some logs with name something like dumpstate_ril_RESET_BY_CP_SILENTRESET_20130801070641.
Deleting these files frees up space. About 6mb per file. No adverse effect so far for me. Not sure about deleting other files.

Thanks. But I have not rooted my note. Now I'm facing lots of app unable to use. Reason due to insufficient storage to sync.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
It might not help but you could try avg cleaner off of the play store or else disk defragmenter
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Like what i mentioned before. It is most likely that those file are created by system and stored in you root partition. The only way i know is to root the phone and delete those files.

May I ask what is the recommended software for rooting my fone?
Anyway I have check with the samsung service centre. I was told the device is for install apps., so I only have 2gb of apps.
For the deleting of files, I worried I might delete the wrong files and cause malfunction of the fone.. I guess I need to delete some folders in the fone

Search for Philz thread and read it. That is the easiest and safe way to root N7000. As for logs deleting, the logs filename i mentioned is safe for deleting.
