SD card question - Nook HD, HD+ Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I flashed verygreen's CM10.1 emmc perfectly but the only card I had was a 16gb and writing the cwm file on it made the SD card only ready 868MB. Is there anyway where I can formatted back to its original 16gb? Any help would be appreciate.
Hooks

Use SDFormatter free on the web. Set it to adjust the size.

I will try that. Thanks.

Can't upload files more than 2gb to Nook HD sd card

This is a stock nook hd+
I've been trying to figure out how to load CM10.1 on a bootable SD card but I can't figure out how, yet.
Anyways, have a 64gb micro sdxc card exfat formatted stuck inside. hooked it up by USB, tried to transfer large file to memory card by nook.
Gets 2gb done, then hangs.
Tried to have the nook itself format the sd card and then try again.
Again, 2gb transferred and then fail.
I guess I could just take the SD card out to a reader and to it that way, but I really don't want to. Would prefer to transfer through nook.
I'm running vista, so exfat support seems etchy.
You are talking two issues. One, you want CM10.1 on SD. The easiest way to do that is to go to my updated HD+ CM10/10.1 guide linked in my signature.
And I am not sure why you are transferring a file larger than 2GB to internal memory. Certainly not for installing CM10.1?

exFAT has 2GB file size limitation. NTFS does not but it will not work on Nook.

[Q] How to transfer all data in a hybrid TF card to a new card

Hi everybody:
Now I have installed hybrid CM10.1 on Nook HD in a 8G TF card. Then I would like to replace it with a new 32G card.
My question is how to transfer all the data, use the extra space and does not broke the system.
Thanks
Use win32diskimager to read the 8GB card to a file. The file will be 8GB. Then use win32diskimager to write that file to your new 32GB card. Then use partitioning software like Mini-Tool Partition Wizard to expand the last partition to the full size of the card.
The data on internal memory will remain and be unchanged. You should be able to boot the new SD just like it was the old one. The only difference will be your CM10SDCARD will be much larger.

If I use the win32diskimager utility to read my working 8GB MicroSD Class4 card it sees nothing because using read will only accept IMG files. There must be something that I am missing here, so please fill in the missing details.
I was going to post an image I created using Snagit of what I see when I attempt what you suggested, but the forum software won't let me.
I plan on trying a clone operation with GParted from the working 8GB SD card to the 32Gb SDHC card. I will post my results here

I had made an empty ".txt" file, then rename it to ".img". It may solve the problem.

Just type in a name. Like 8GB.img in the box. You do not have to actually create the file first, win32diskimager will create it. Then after it is done reading that write it back to your new card.

OK. Thanks. I am giving that a shot. I am going to try it on the Sandisk 16GB class 4 card first and then on the Samsung 32 GB class 6 unit. I will post my results here.
The results were negative with theSandisk 16 GB class 4 and Samsung 32GB class 6 HDSC cards. The 32 GB card went into a loop with the appearance of the CWM graphics and back to the initial Nook image. I let it cycle perhaps 10 times. I then tried the 16 GB card and had the same results.

Since that did not seem to work for you, another option is to make a nandroid backup with your old card to internal memory. You might also want to save your files that you have on CM10SDCARD. Then reburn the new card, let it set itself up, flash CM, the converter and gapps to it. Then before you reboot, restore the backup you made earlier. It should then be set up the same when you reboot. Then restore your CM10SDCARD files.

What do you mean it didn't work? Where did it fail? During backup, during new SD creation or restore?
Edit: If somewhere along the line of your trying to fix this, you installed a new image to a card and booted with it before you did a nandroid backup of your old card, you wiped out the internal /data for the old card and it is not retrievable. If you did that, you just have to start over.

I followed your advice exactly. It appeared to work the same way that it did with the working 8GB SDHC card. I still have a nandroid backup of the old card on my PC. It just doesn't work on the two higher capacity SD cards I have. I see that I am going to have to look through the list and find the exact model of a 32 GB card that someone got working. It works fine on the Sandisk 8GB Class 4 card. The two Samsung cards (class 6) of 16 & 32 GB capacity that I own don't work. They are OK for storage use, but trying to install Android on them was a waste of time. I tried so many times. I used your tutorials and others tutorials unsuccessfully. A bum SD card is a bum SD card. I am not exactly a newbie at installing ROMs on devices . I have been doing it on my HTC Desire HD for about a year ever since HTC abandoned us and decided to not give us ICS or Jellybean for our expensive devices. I have Venom DHD on my HTC Desire HD at the moment. I am waiting for my new Samsung Galaxy s4 to arrive this week.

[Q] Problems with Storage on CM10.1

Hey guys,
I got a Nook Tablet and I turned it into an Android device running CM10.1 via Micro SD card. The process went smoothly and the SD card is a 32GB Sandisk Class 4. The only problem that I have is that I don't have 32 GB on the android device. I only have 1GB as internal memory and 1GB as external memory (SD card). Is there a way to access the other GBs? This is preventing me from downloading all of the apps that I want.
Thanks!

When you say Nook Tablet, do you really mean that or a Nook HD or HD+? If really a Nook Tablet, you are in the wrong thread.

[Q] How to make Nook HD bootable SD card?

I have a Nook HD (hummingbird) and want to make a bootable SD card for it that boots into CM10.
Is there a ready-made bootable SD card suitable for the Nook HD (hummingbird, not HD+) that I can download and just burn to a SD card without buying an N2A card for the same purpose? The posts that I've seen so far are either for Nook HD+ (ovation) or require lots of steps that haven't worked for me.
The reason I need this is so I can revive a bricked Nook HD. I need to re-create the EMMC volumes that were obliterated in a previous installation. I just need to be able to boot into CM from the SD card (not EMMC) so I can create some volumes that are no longer present in the EMMC and re-install CM on the Nook HD.
Thanks in advance.
You can go to bokbokan's SD thread and install his CM10.1 to pure SD.
Or, you can go to my HD/HD+ CWM thread linked in my signature. Use item 1 to make a bootable CWM card for the HD. Then you can use that CWM to do whatever you want.

Okay now that I have these files:
uImage.20130613.sd.hd.zip
update-20130224.zip
sdcard-cwm-hummingbirdv4.zip
ramdisk.cwm
I believe I need to download an image and replace files on that image with these files. I'm probably missing the obvious but I can't find it. So I download an sdcard image file and burn it using Win32DiskImager, then what do I do with the above four files?
When I burn the sdcard images that I have I don't see a /boot partition--there is just one partition there.
Is there a bootable sdcard that contains everything already?
Thanks.

[Q] Having Trouble Creating SD Card with CM7 for Nook

I need some help with creating an SD card to boot android from on a Nook HD.
I tried this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
I used an old 8gb sandisk micro SD i got from a cell phone
Used win32 disk imager and flashed generic-sd card image onto the root of sd card
Then I took out the card and re-inserted it to get it recognize the new image as F:boot which has 4 files on it MLO U-boot, U ram disk, and u image
Then I went to install CM 7.2 files onto the SD - that's where i ran into trouble. It gave "Error No Room on Disk". I looked at the space on the Sd card and it said it was only 113Mb. _Please help. What did i do wrong when flashing the image file onto SD card to make the sd card smaller?
Thanks in advance for your help.
You have really got things mixed up. This is a Nook HD/HD+ thread and you linked to a Nook Color thread (they are different devices). CM7 does not run on the Nook HD. No wonder things are not working for you.
If you truly have a Nook HD, find a Nook HD thread for installing CM to SD (has to be CM10/CM10.1/CM10.2 though).

Thank you for the reply. I checked and yes I do have a Nook HD 8GB. I got it from walmart for $129.
So just to confirm - No CM7 will run on Nook HD?
Can you install CM 10 without rooting the device? And if so, is a non-rooted install that runs directly off the SD Card significantly slower than it was flashed to internal memory?
If CM 10 has to be installed to the internal memory, are there dual boot options that would keep what i have on the nook saved?
Also, I noticed when i tried to put CM7 on the SD card, it created a 113 image file, and left the remainder of the disk as "unallocated" - so during the install process how does that unallocated space get turned into usable space?
Any link for the build I need would be very appreciated. Not trying to get anyone to do the work for me, with all the different builds and install files, its complicated for a first timer.
Thanks for help

No, CM7 will run on the Nook HD.
You do not have to root stock to run CM from SD. You can run CM10.1 from the SD and leave stock intact. So you can boot back and forth. If you do, I recommend the hybrid install here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=36668001
It runs more quickly and has more stability. But be warned the instructions can be confusing.
There are no dual boot options that allow you to fully install two systems to internal memory.
And that old Nook Color SD that you used is different than how the Nook HD SD is installed. But you do have to follow directions to get everything to work and fit.
