[Q] Recovery Problem - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Am using a Samsung S+ i9001. When am trying to make backup, restore or install new rom or long process in recovery. The phone just switch off on its own. I have tried to install an old recovery. But problem persist. Installed stock rom using odin and use stock recovery also doing same.
Any one ever had such problem before.

Battery old? Perhaps, if you use CWM 6.x then this problem is know. 6.0.3.2 is known to be safe but Cwm 5.5.0.4 is perfect for me

Am using CWM 5.5.0.4 and tried TWRP 2.2.3 something. But problem still persist. Tried a new battery also.

Reboot from recovery to recovery from advanced option. Then try to backup. May it helps..

I'll try that later on. But something happen with the mobile last. I switched the mobile off, put it on charge and after a few minutes the mobile reboot and show the charging screen. This goes on for an hour and then suddenly it turns on.
Any idea

Problem accessing recovery

Hi guys:
I have rooted my phone today using SuperOneClick root. Then I have installed ROM Manager, and installed Clockwork Recovery Mod 3.0.0.5. I have being reflashing Clockwork and recovery menu via ROM Manager because when I turn off my phone and turn it up (holding up power on and vol down button) and press to go to Recovery then appears the error image that is like an Android logo, cellphone and a yellow caution sign.
¿Can you guys help me? ¿What I'm doing wrong?
Thanks!
That's the stock recovery. If you still have a stock rom, it will restore stock recovery unless you delete the following files:
/system/etc/install-recovery.sh
/system/recovery-from-boot.p

I don't understand.
I have installed to it CM7 last build. And is running without any problems, but I am scared that if I have some problem with the OS and I can't boot to recovery.
It has Clockwork Recovery Mod but I can access it unless I use ROM Manager to start it.
¿I need to delete those 2 files and It will be fixed?
Thanks!
That is definitely the stock recovery (Android with an exclamation in a triangle).
If you have CM7 installed, I've no idea how you got the stock recovery, but re-flashing another recovery should fix it. The two files I mentioned aren't included in CM7, so that's not the problem...

Agree. That's the stock recovery. Sometimes you need to apply the new recovery twice under rom manager. I did have similar experience. Install a custom recovery again. I beg it will be fine next time. Hope this help.
When I first rooted using a one click method my custom recovery would only stick for one boot. On the xda nexus one wiki there's instructions on how to install a recovery after one click root and get it to stick.
Hope this helps!

Keeps rebooting to cwm after installing CM

Here is what I did with the phone:
- Flashed JVU via odin
- Flashed CF-Root with CWM via odin
- Wipe EVERYTHING
- Flashed semaphore kernel for 4.3 via CWM
- Rebooted to CWM
- Flashed CM 10.2 stable via CWM
- Flashed semaphore again
- Flashed gapps
And now the phone keeps rebooting to CWM everytime I power it on. It never goes to Android, it always boots to CWM. Any ideas?
Of course, i tried to flash CM / semaphore / gapps again but it keeps doing the same. Flashing only CM does not work either

What do you mean exactly? ;_;
By the way it seems to work after flashing a samsung stock ROM but it does the same everytime I try to install CM. And I have done it before, I don't understand this ;_; (I decided to start over again because I was having trouble to downgrade from 4.4)
Have you find a solution? I faced the same problem and after reading half of the day on this forum I managed to find a solution to go back to stock and restore the phone functionality. Now I only have to flash CWM/TWRP and start to flash custom ROMs again
Let me know if you still need help.
The correct procedure to come to any ROM is from GB>ICS>JB>KK. So make sure that you are following the correct procedure

N7000 - sticking during Odin flash - logo plus yellow exclamation triangle

Hi
Ancient history - I rooted my Galaxy Note a few weeks ago with a Philz kernel. I didn't really know what I was doing, but it seemed to work fine. This morning, my phone was shut down, and wouldn't start up, sticking on the Samsung screen. I read other threads here, and it seems like to fix this, I need to flash the same Philz kernel using Odin when in download mode, then start up in recovery mode, mount as USB and extract my files, then restart and reinstall files, and I should be back to more or less where I was last night. /Ancient history
I've installed Odin, started the device in download mode, found the correct .tar, connected the phone, and started the process in Odin.
When it got to restart, the phone is again flicking the logo screen on and off, now with a yellow triangle and an exclamation. Does this essentially mean I need a different kernel? I was hoping that reflashing it with the same Philz kernel would solve the problem, but it appears not .
I solved this bit
I also solved this bit. Please see the edited original post for the current problems.

if you already have flashed philz kernel, try to boot into recovery mode with volume up+power+home button. Yellow exclamation is nothing to worry about, it can be removed once you have phone booted up.

Yeah, I found that I can get into recovery mode, I mounted and backed up my USB, and then I did a factory reset. The phone now runs, and I'm finding myself tempted to put in a KitKat rom, because I'm a glutton for punishment.

The Step to install kilkat are:
Install The correct philz kernel version.
Install the raw kernel and reboot the recovery.
Full wipe.
Install the 4.4 Rom
Install the gapps.
Wipe cache and dalvik
Roboot.

You should start a new thread and describe your rom what you did, root or not, what kernel...in more details so that people can help. The issue in this thread is different from yours.

if you made nandroid backup from philz kernel then flash philz kernel, reboot recovery and try to restore. If you didnt include preload in the backup then that could be a problem. You can do a clean flash for the stock rom and then advanced restore and restore data.

Thanks. But didn't work.
Guess I'll have to try flash via Odin PC. Any helpful thoughts, or directions?

If you tried what i mentioned and that didn't work then you can clean install stock rom and you can extract the backup on pc by using 7zip or compression tool and the reatore tbat using titanium backup pro. I haven't tried this ever but this ia what i was suggested by @nokiamodeln91

You can solve it fashing again the recovery via ODIN, I made it many times and ever this problem was solved. the cause of this problem is the recovery rebooter.
Hmm..
Instead I found a solution into CWM's Recovery thread. Go there and see into last pages, there is a zip of CWM 6.0.3.3! Flash it by CWM and problem sloved!
