Hi,
Me for one, likes testing and flashing, but i am not always at a pc to do fastboot commands to restore kernels.
So i decided to make a flashable kernel so i can test roms while i am away from pc, home or at work.
The kernels i have made flashable are EDGANS overclock kernel from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1173225
And also -eval kernels for the OFRF GB port to atrix internationals
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1169409
Thanks Edgan
Thanks -eval
It includes SetCPU support. It is only a 1.1ghz overclock. It is still 1ghz by default, you have to use SetCPU to trigger the overclocking.

Steps
Reboot into cwm recovery
Factory reset
Flash Rom of your choice
Flash my kernel.zip
Reboot
I have tested personally the d00 kernel and have flashed without the use of pc in any way. I have flashed kens 4.5 rom, Cherryblur (issues with wifi), redpill, Ninjas, Quickrom,
If all fails use

Great job dude... worked perfectly... fixed ram as well... kudos
Edit: found answer
I've set SETCPU to max 1000mhz and the phone still uses 1100mhz (as shown in the "time in state"). Any fix?
Folks,
I have managed to compile the kernel for version 3.0.8 from
HUAWEI_U8800prpen_Source(U8800pro.IcecreamSandwich%2Ckernel-3.0.8%29
I have tried various methods like fastboot, flash_image to install it on my Spice Mi 410 device, but am facing problems.
Can someone like DoomLord or Napstar or others guide me how to install it.
By the way the original 3.5 MB whereas the new kernel that i compiled is about 4.2 MB, could that be a problem?
Thanks

to install newer kernel version we need different cwm recovery compiled based on the new kernal.
afaik tj-style gave us cwm recovery for both .32 and .35 so we have to ask tj only.
maybe vivekb can tell more about this...

Well is the flash_image part of the cwm recovery? because i tried that and it gave me this error :
# flash_image boot /mnt/sdcard/boot.img
failed with error: -1
error scanning partitions
so i am guessing the boot partition could be called something else on our phone, or maybe the error is also related to something completely different.
Of course i faced a bunch of problems trying to compile the kernel, mostly for bluetooth, the 7x30 hw board and msm camera section, but then i am thinking if somehow this new kernel can be flashed on to the device, then i can try and resolve the kernel compile problems one-by-one
If someone wants to give it a try i can put up the boot.img file that i created with the new 3.0.8 kernel and the old ramdisk on some file hosting site.
Hello!
I'm having a problems, when i'm trying to install iodak v5 and Werewolf v005 on my phone.
I have CM 10.1 Nightly (20120604) and CWM 6.0.3.1.
When i boot into recovery mode, im installing iodak v5 from internal sdcard, and after install i'm rebooting phone.
It stucks into logo lg, and i have to boot into recovery again and do a factory reset.
Another problem is when i'm trying to install Werewolf v005 instead of iodak v5.
I'm doing factory reset, cache partition reset, and installing CM 10.1, gapps, Werewolf v005_fixed.
When im rebooting phone, it stays in 'bootloop', so i have to re-insert my battery and do a factory reset again.
But when i install only CM 10.1 then Werewolf v005 - it works, but what can i do without google apps?
When i'm trying to install only play store, phone is turning off and again stuck in 'bootloop'.
Pls help me, i really want to have 1.7 ghz and 520-600 mhz.

hmm, your problem sounds interesting... what's your cpu variant?
also, have you tried: full wipe --> flash rom --> flash gapps --> wipe cache --> flash kernel --> reboot?
cause sometimes flashing gapps needs to wipe cache, too...

It's my first rooted phone and i have LG 4x HD from just one week.
How can i check my cpu variant?
PS. Yes, i've tried, and with Werewolf it works, but when i will open Play Store, phone is turning off and bootlooping again..
And with iodak it's still stuck in lg logo.

about CPU variant, @exFAT wrote a tut on how to find it out.
and about the bootloops:
flash it and let it boot. then run a logcat, recording the crash when attempting to open play store. when it is bootlooping then, please grab a dmesg (last_kmsg) and give me/us the two files. then we can see what's the problem

Now i have another problem.
I did like u said (full wipe -> flash rom -> flash gapps -> cache wipe -> flash werewolf)
I opened Play Store, and it worked.
I downloaded the game (Subway Surfers) and opened. I've started playin', and after about 10 seconds phone got fully lagged, i had to re-insert battery. Now when i'm trying to boot it up, it's coming to PIN, but i cant click numbers.
Are you sure you installed the right Kernel? There are two variants: for CM and Stock. If you flash the wrong one you'll get problems.

Iodak kernel was the issue with boot logo, maybe that one was the mistake. As for the Werewolf one, could it be the ROM itself? Or wrong gapps version. Instead of 4.2.2 got 4.2.1

well, of course it could be the rom having a bug. and about gapps, nope, i don't think so.

But i there i have Another problem... Im trying to check CPU variant as u said, but when i flash CM, adb says - 'error: device offline'.

Help me pls, again i flashed werewolf. I downloaded and installed 'catlog' and started recording, then i wanted to download trickster, and in one moment, phone just turned off... im broke..... how to check file from catlog now? (phone is not bootloping, when im trying to boot up it's just turning off after CM logo)
When i will flash CM, i wont be able to check logs, cuz on CM my adb doesn't work (device offline)... what have i to do?

Did you do a full backup in CWM before trying to flash kernel/ROM or mess with anything like that? I've made and kept a full nandroid backup of mine just in case.
Your problem seems pretty serious.. I'm no expert. Try to use a different ROM maybe? just for now see if it behaves the same.
Also, did you try to whipe Dalvik cache? (Think that's how is called)

Ehh, so i won't check that dmesg?
Maybe i have to try Werewolf ROM? It looks really good too.
Try a different ROM, but if the problem still exsists then check dmesg, as laufersteppenwolf said. He'll know a better solution.

yeah, that'd be no bad idea. 'cause you've got problems with my kernel, try my rom (don't have to like/use it, just for testing). the v005 kernel is already included.
wipe everything (full wipe + format /system), flash rom, flash gapps, wipe cache ,boot and see what happens
and about adb, you need the latest adb version (.31) for android 4.2.2. then you also need to "register" your PC in your phone. simply just type adb devices --> look @ your phone and allow the access. now adb should work
Really thanks for help..
But i have another problem.. did i broke my usb cabel or what?
When im on CM 10.1 nightly, and connecting usb for try to put urs ROM into my internal sdcard, my PC says error.
Also when im trying to update to V20A through S/W Upgrade it says 'PHONE WAS NOT FOUND'.
So what should i do now.. ?

Hey guys, yesterday i got my htc one and decided to root it and to install a custom rom on it. The custom rom i'm using is trickDroid.
I then saw this thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2255160 and wanted to flash the kernel to be able to use the htc logo.
I Tried flashing the performance zip file from cmw, it worked fine but then when i try to reboot the htc logo appears and then... nothing, the screen remains black...
I tried to flash several different other kernels after having to constantly press volume down and power button for 30 seconds and then to reflash my rom , do one boot and then go back to recovery and flash the kernel... Whenever i try to flash a new kernel it won't boot to the os anymore :/
Does anybody know why and how to fix it?
Thanks
Hi,
I presume you use the last Trickdroid rom (based on Android 4.2.2), the kernel you want to flash is for Android 4.1.2...
You can try these ones (for Android 4.2.2):
[KERNEL] [July25] ElementalX 3.4 |OC|UV|GPU OC|S2W|L2W|DT2W|L2M|THERMAL|BLN|4.2.2
[kernel][Jul21][sense4.2.2|GoogleEdn]teaMSeven2.1.5|TapWake|S2W|BLN|OTG|Hotplug|OC|UV
EDIT: I misread your post, you can't flash any kernel . Are you sure you don't try to flash a kernel for AOSP/CM rom, or another 4.1.2 kernel?
Hey, thanks for the quick reply.
Indeed it was a version problem. I would have bet i checked it many times before doing it.
Now it's working like magic. Thank you!

Hello everyone. I'm a newbie samsung user. I tried to root my phone (N700-Galaxy Note - ICS 4.0.4) using PhilZ Recovery method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1901191
When I flash the zip in the stock recovery, everything seems to be ok, then when I got out and pressed "Reboot System now", the phone just turned off. I tried to power it on, but I stuck at the N7000 Logo (the logo just appears for a few seconds then disappears). However, I can still access the PhilZ Recovery
What should I do now? Should I flash a new rom with new kernel using that recovery (e.g: OmniRom with Raw Kernel)?
Please help, I'm really worry :crying:
Since you have Philz kernel then you can flash any TW ROM or AOSP ROM which is not KitKat. If you want to try out KitKat then you would have to first flash Raw Kernel and then from Raw kernel you can flash KitKat (ex. OmniROM).
If you want to go back to stock then you would have to flash a stock ROM using Odin.
whats the name of the zip file you flashed?
