The power button isen't working anymore. I have to use my fingernail to press the very right edge soooo far in the phone just to get it to work. Has anyone tried to repair it yourself? Or is it not worth it? The res of the phone is still in great working condition, screen is still new, plastic shows signs of wear around the edges and corners. Its a heck of a phone!
Repair or sell used for parts?
If you are on a Cyanogenmod Rom, there is an option to turn on the screen using the volume rocker keys, which might help you. If you are on another ROM, than I'm not sure what else I can suggest. Good luck.

I guess SGN does not offer such a feature, mate! You would probably need to accept it.

indeed it does offer... just press the button on the stylus and swipe to the left on the screen to go back and swipe up on the screen to access the menu options... you can do this on whichever app you are on
Actually those buttons are capacitive and i think i've read somewhere its not a capacitive stylus....it uses some other technology....an like Chillz88 said...use the button and gestures...
The button tip on the stylus is amazing, Thank you for all the help!

Hey guys, I found my power button is not working properly, sometimes ,i have to press couple of time to make it work . does it a captivate defect or the software issue ( rom )
thanks
It is a fairly common hardware defect. You will need to either take it apart to clean it, or get it repaired.

Check this thread about cleaning power button with electronics cleaner, it worked for me.

In root explorer go to system mount system as r/w, then go to usr--keylayout--aries.keypad.kl edit line 115 to delete volume up and replace it with power. Save the file and reboot.

I'm having a funny issue with my Cappy power button in the way that it's becoming over sensitive. I sometimes just have to touch it to wake the phone. Also, if I shake the phone hard enough I can wake it. That's kinda cool. The button still clicks, but I'm wondering if it's just dirty. Thoughts anybody?

Either that or the little part holding your button is broken (ripped). Could try taking it apart to take a look.

After that last post I got all adventurous and took apart my Cappy, the outer plastic button is all intact, nothing broken, the very little power button on the motherboard still clicks. Nothing I can see is out of place. Put my battery back in with the phone all apart and the power button wasn't acting over sensitive. This issue of mine is kinda sporadic I might just send my phone to Josh at mobiletechvideos.com seeing as I can't do much about it.

Nice username.
Yeah, the One has a very stiff button, so you're going to get almost no tactile feedback when you press it. That's how it's supposed to be. If you don't like it though, there are several mods floating around this forum on ways you can raise its profile (like painting on clear nail polish).
Or just bypass it almost completely and use the modified kernels for slide to wake or double tap to wake. There's also a few other long press options too. At least that way you only use then power button to turn on and off the phone.
There also appear to be options for turning screen off through the eqs, although I haven't been able to get those to work for me. Sweep2wake/sweep2sleep is awesome. Also a great little show off for your non rooted friends!

Hello guy im facing a trouble!
My Galaxy Mini S5570 is having issues with 2 buttons:
- 1st is: The Power On/Off is not working, the phone turn on itself alone (when removed the battery).
- 2nd is: The Volume Up is very sensible like touch screen, you need to be careful when you use the phone because if u don't u accidently touch (not press) the Volume key then the volume up alone.
And another trouble (result of button issue) is:
When my phone power up (itself) sometimes this screen appears
(see attachment)
Maybe fixing the buttons this error disappear?
And what i have to do!? Please help guys i'm getting crazy with this phone
EDIT: i already flashed another stock rom, downgraded to 2.3.4, used custom rom and nothing, is really hardware problem.
Thanks guys!

I was using Viper Vivo ROM from sometime, it worked flawlessly. But yesterday my battery died out, after which I am not able to boot properly. It Vibrates when I power ON, but no back-light. So I tried to go in boot-loader (No Back-light), then I pressed Vol-DN then power and strangely the backlight came and I am able to use recovery (4EXT) properly. It seemed like software issue to me, so I tried wiping data and cache and installing different ROMs (Android Revolution HD 5.3 then Stock "vivo_signed_WWE_4.14.405.2_ICS_SENSE36_1.zip") but its the same issue.
Could any one please help me with this.

I tried the same several times, but no luck. Recovery works fine, nothing else has back-light (not even in Boot-Loader).
Try this maybe. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1711537

This will not work as it is addressing the button backlight, whereas the OP does not have a screen backlight.
Press "thanks" if I helped you out!
You are right LamboBull.. The screen backlight itself is not coming except in recovery.
Could there be a problem in Bootloader?

Im thinking it might be hardware related.. Did you screw around with anything prior to the backlight not responding?
Press "thanks" if I helped you out!
Nah.. Didn't do anything with the hardware.
But what could be possibly wrong with hardware? Display and Touch both are working fine in recovery.

-_- there's a difference between cranking up the brightness and not being able to see anything at all on the screen (in other words, completely black screen as if the phone was off).
Just a question but do the key backlights work?? Like, a lot of the ROMs come with default vibration for the keys. If you do feel your phone vibrate, then it might be the screen display or recovery maybe??
Im assuming you can boot up past splashscreen...

FYI , I have met such problems with a rom before (I forget what rom it is ) . I thought my backlight was dead . But then I turn the display brightness up , it came back alive . So I'm just guessing if its gonna work .

I am not even able to see HTC logo, it just vibrates. And when I go to boot loader i.e Vol DN+Power (No Back light) and press volume down once then power button once then I get to recovery and the back light turns on.
Also KEY backlight works only in recovery nowhere else.
I guess this clears the issue which I am facing.
I tried at some repairing shops but even they don't have any clue.
Any other suggestions are appreciated.
