I know I have to be missing something b/c this doesn't make any sense at all. Basically to ask this simply, when I get a calendar invite in Gmail (doesn't matter if it's a Google Calendar invite or from Outlook), it comes with a .ics attachment that my phone can't open. How do you guys respond yes, no, or maybe when you receive calendar invites?! Thanks.
Really? I'm the only htc one owner that receives calendar invites?
In the Gmail app the calendar invite has yes, no, maybe links, just click one.
In email app (Outlook account) there is an invite tab on the message with selections.

When you click on the yes, no, or maybe it opens a web browser. That's not the type of solution I'm looking for.

Doesn't open a browser on mine, just sends the response.

Just go into your GMail account and create labels and filters and you will be able to tell as they come in.
Yup just create a filter and a corresponding label.
That's how I do it.
will check it out...thanks guys

Are you saying that the Gmail app can be used to access a second email account, in addition to the main Gmail account for syncing? If so, how? Thanks.

You have to forward your second email account to your gmail account.

No, a better solution is to go into your GMail settings and have it fetch your emails from the secondary acct via POP3.
Is there a way to select which service to use for a contact's picture. On my phone it seems to be twitter > gtalk > facebook. But I want to use the facebook pictures. any help?
I done know of a way to do it for all your contacts at once, but when you edit a contact you will see all available images for them and tapping on one of them will select it as their main pic.

Holy crap... I didn't know we could do that! So downloading the Twitter app and adding someone's Twitter username to their contact adds that pic as an option too?
Wish I could delete a post. Thought I was editing. :-\

It doesn't work out of the box. You will need to use 'SyncMyPix' from the Play Store to retrieve and assign the pics.
PS: If you get a login / session invalid error in SyncMyPix, just logout once and login again -- it works then.
With Haxsync 2.3.0 you are able to sync HD images and select Facebook HD photos by default

I have a question about the gmail app vs the preinstalled email app.
I know the official gmail app recieves gmail instantly when they come, but can i just unistall the gmail app itself, an use the gmail setting in the standard email app, an still get emails instantly?
The gmail app pushes notifications to your phone. The email app pulls them to your phone.
The benefits of push are 1.faster notifications 2.better battery life because google's servers are doing most of the work.
when i hade my iphone 4 non of the emails were push but i had my gmail setup as a microsoft exchange and changed some setting and i was getting my gmail pushed dont know if this is the same as htc mail app
Is it possible with gmail application to show the number of new unread email on the icon?

Yes it is if you download Gmail Unread Count from the Market.
Is there anyway to set this up to where gmail will push emails to the htc app rather than the stock gmail app? Id like to just use the htc email app instead of having my gmail sent to a seperate app.

Thanks! but upon reading the reviews, a lot of complaints about it draining the battery though.

You can add gmail as the mail provider but I don't think it will push though. You can setup when it should sync though.

I have my yahoo an hotmail setup that way, but my other 2 gmail accounts is through the gmail app. It would be nice to be able to remove the gmail app an have it push straight to the htc app though.
I know it is a late reply but i stumble on this one through google search, so maybe others are too.
Solution to get push mail in your htc mail app, is to add gmail account through exchange/active sync. Then you can set it to push as the refresh interval. You don't need the gmail-app anymore.

Gmail's new Inbox app is pretty awesome, but it's still invite-only. If you have a friend that's using inbox, you can get access on your own device with their help—even if they don't have any invites to give out.
y of WonderHowTo, is simple:
1)Download Inbox on your phone through its app store, either Android or iOS. You won't be able to sign in with your account, since you don't have access, but download it anyway.
2)Have your friend log into their Google Account to your phone. For Android, you'll want to do this under Settings > Accounts. On iOS devices, log in through another Google app, like Gmail or Chrome.
3)Open Inbox and, when prompted, choose their account to sign in.
4)Go to Inbox's settings and select "Manage Accounts". Flip the switch for your account to "on". You should now have access to Inbox on your account.
5)Remove your friend's account from your phone. Again, on Android, do this through Settings > Accounts. On iOS, head back to the "Manage Accounts" screen in a Google app, tap "Edit", and delete your friend's account.
After performing this process, your friend's account will no longer be connected to your phone, but you'll still have access to Inbox. According to WonderHowTo, this only works for one degree of separation. That is, if you never officially got an invite to Inbox, you can't repeat this process with other people—only the original invitee can.
Enjoy.. working,just tried it.

ohhh.. Fixed it.
I don't think this works now
at step 4:
4)Go to Inbox's settings and select "Manage Accounts". Flip the switch for your account to "on". You should now have access to Inbox on your account.
When signing in with my alternate account, it just says I don't have an invite and there is no settings option.
Hi any one have Inbox invite, plz

This is brilliant. Does it still work? I'm on Inbox, but I'd love to seed other accounts with it so I can get more invites to hand out to people whenever Google does another batch.
Del
For me don' t work
Wouldn't it just be easier to find the flag google toggles when an invitee has been logged in? I'm sure it can't really be that hard.
already got 9 access to my friends email and all of them are failing
is this trick work?
i supposed we still need someones working Inbox account to get this trick working
obviously this trick not work for me
What's so special about this that you need an invite to use it.
So dumb

Curious as to what email app you guys are using on your P9's and if you get notifications?
I tried the default app for gmail and it only shows inbox and not sent or other folders which is a waste of time for me, all other emails apps dont show notifications unless I open the app and thats with the permissions set correctly.
I use Nine email app..it bas good support for exchange as well.

Do you have to launch the application first, or you can reboot phone and you will get notifications automatically?
Did you have to adjust the permissions?

I have a widget on my homescreen so it starts at boot. The permissions in the notification centre say "Status bar, banners, lock screen".

Can you tell me how to set up an outlook account on Huawei's pre-installed app? Not gmail app.
i delete some of my mails and after that when i enter my email app again my mails are still there. i think this is a huawei mail bug.
I use Outlook but turned off notifications now.
I prefer Gmail. ?
AquaMail has exchange support (also calendars) and runs at here without problems.

Just choose the option for hot mail and then enter your full outlook details when it asks. That's what I did .

Boxer Mail.
I don't use its calendar or contacts but works fine wih gamil, with imap,.... Altought all my accounts redirect to my gmail account, I read from Gmail and write for my personal domain. With boxer I can do it.
Before I used Outlook but I had problems with IMAP refresh. With Boxer I haven't problems.
