I just saw this game on another site and decided to give it a try since it's free. I've been want Words With Friends or a decent clone for awhile. Wordwise Pro just doesn't fit the bill. So far WordFeud is great given it's really new.
http://wordfeud.com/
PS: I'm not getting paid to promote this. It's just really fun and I'd though I'd share.
Add me if you want to play. My ID is Snapshotx
Awesome! I have been looking for something like this. Thanks so much. Just started playing you, username is Foobu.
Thanks for the recommendation! I have been missing "Words with Friends"
Anyone can add me for a game as well. My ID is dweebs0r.
wioooow this is the most exciting day I have ever had work my captivate, please people just uninstall word wize loool, that's is it,this is actually better than words with friends, all it needs is sounds, and an option to pay for a add free version, if they make this a cross platform words with friends is going to be yesterdays news
The reason I want words with friends is so that I can play with my fiancee on her iPhone.
tell get to get a android then you can be reunited with word feud again lol
Having alot of problems staying connected

Been playing it with my coworker since this morning, lol... Btw, is there a way to resign even if it's not your turn yet?
yes, this is MUCH better than WordWize - almost exactly like WWF.... if anyone is up for a game, feel free to invite me: Aftashok is the name.
man I used to LOVE words with friends on my iPhone. Thanks so much for sharing this!!!
If anyone wants to play just add: smeltn
i wish the game would incorporate a ratings system and win/loss records..... the competitive me wishes for such things.
Wish there was at least a paid version to get rid of ads, hopefully that will come cause i dont mind paying a dollar to support the developer on this, pretty good so far and the people over at WWF probably wont release anything for a while. Thought that games that were won/lost didnt go away but apparently they do after 2 days, needs to be sooner than that or user removable.
Name: hollaholla
Sweet!
Mine is TexUS.
It'd be nice if WWF would show up on here though so I can play with iPhone people.
This game uses a lot of data, like 1MB in 1 Minute.
Is there anyway to stop it from using data when you're not in a WiFi area?
thanks for the heads up...
awesome game...
PS: not to thread-jack, but has anyone found a good boggle clone out there... with randomly oriented letters like the real game?

check out wordup. it's a "boggle-like" game.
on topic, word feud is fun. checking out how much batt. it takes with the push notification and multiple games. add me for games: funthony.
I gave this a try a few weeks ago, after using WordWise for 2 months...and I wasn't a big fan. The lack of a paid version, updates, and stat tracking was kind of a deal breaker.
WordWise was admittedly spartan when it first came out...but the developer updates the app fairly regularly, so I think I'mma stick with that one...until it gets abandoned or WordFeud updates. Heh.
a friend sent me this link earlier today...looks like a pretty cool idea. Gonna at least give it shot. Supposed to be in the market tomorrow sometime.

I'd imagine so.
You should definitely post up an apk.
It'll give me something to mess with in class while I watch my Texans play the Colts instead of listening to my incredibly boring prof drone on for 3 hours.

It's out on the market but please share the apk!
Yes, please share the apk ^.^ I want to try it out so bad
You can buy it on Android Market now.
Even if it's only $1 or whatever, it is a bad policy to charge for this on the Market. This being so radically different then other keyboards, they should really put this out for free to expand the user base.
I can see it on AppBrain but not once I open it in the market.
Not an option in Canada or not an option for my 2.2 Stream Liquid E?
Can someone post the apk somewhere? We have all have established that it should have been free for a trial at least
Where to get it.
I couldn't find it on appmarket. I don't see any paid apps so thats probably why it doesn't show up. I agree that there should be a trial version of it at, at least to see how it works.
I would love to pay for this, but I never had an itch to setup Market with payments. Anyone can share the APK somewhere?

I agree. They need to get a good user base going to spread the word before they start charging. I just want to run a trial of it or something. Then If I begin to like it I'll buy it.
It's not a free app so posting an apk is warez. There is no trial in the market either.

Ive got to admit it looks interesting...but i agreee with everyone else it needs a trial version to build a base of fans...then bring out a paid app with some extras....

agreed. the reason I'm gonna wait til it's avaliable via alternate methods. If I like it, I will buy.
Using 8pen to type this is taking some time but I have to say i am impressed at how quickly I am getting used to writing with it. And it can be reallyfast when I am writing familiar words. Worth using for a few days to see how it works. I will post back in a few days to let you all know what I think.

One of our own made it into Round 2 of the Google IO challenge! Developer teleknEsis had this to say about it...
The first round was just 6 obscure Android questions that we had to answer in 30 minutes. Top 200 people went on to round 2.
Round 2 was to create an Android version of the HTML5 countdown clock on the homepage of the google io site. They changed up the site today for St Pattie's day and changed the bouncing colored balls to floating 4-leaf clovers, but it's still the same concept more or less. We had about 20 hours to do it (although less for me b/c I had to wait to get off work)
So I created an app for Android that has little bouncy Androids instead of colored balls.

And a little about himself..
Finally made the transition to full-time Android developer about a month ago. Spent the previous couple years playing around with Android and last 6 months staying up all night coding pet projects. It's good to feel as though I have 'arrived'.

HERE'S a little more about the contest itself. I'm sure everyone will join me in congratulating teleknEsis and wishing him luck in the future. Hopefully he'll be able to update us with his progress here.
Thanks.
Thanks for letting us know and good luck to our XDA Dev!!
Good Luck! I hope He wins.
Sent from either my Nexus S, N1 or telepathically using two tin cans and some string.
Thanks!!
Thanks guys, I definitely appreciate the support! I don't think I'm going to find out if I won until April 4th but until then I'm keeping my fingers crossed!
If anyone would like to test the app I submitted send me a PM and I'll send you a link to download, and in the mean time I will let you guys know if I hear anything!
Please keep us updated!
And if you want to make your app free public in XDA I can write an article about it.
Let me know via PM
Good luck!
Congratulations for getti this far dude! Hope you win!

A not so happy ending...
Well, I'm sad to announce I was not one of the top 10 Android winners
It seems they gave a lot of credit to final app size (even tho mine was still 20 kb) and a few of the people used some tools to shrink the final apk. Once I found out about this I did it to my apk as well and was on par with their size (11 kb).
It's disappointing, but at the same time, I'm still incredibly happy how things turned out. I was w/in the top 38 people who competed and that in and of itself is something to be proud of.
I also learned a TON from this challenge because prior to it I had never done custom animations or even worked with the Canvas class - both of which I can say I'm very comfortable with now. So in only 9 hours I learned how to do custom animations and created an awesome app - AMAZING!
So, long story short, while I may not have won, I'm still holding my head up high and there's always next time.
I did, however, turn my submission into a live wallpaper and made it the system clock rather than a countdown clock. I stuck it on the market for $0.99 so who knows, if it sells like hot cakes then maybe I will have enough $$ to buy an I/O ticket on eBay.
So.... what are you waiting for?! Go buy my app and check it out!!!

Sorry guys for the double post, but the developer of the popular Bang bang Racing has asked that us members here at XDA help them by posting some positive, honest comments in the Android marketplace. Recently they have been receiving one-star ratings all due to the recent price drop, which to me is really not fair considering that all developers do this and these guys have really been working hard to fix the issues that we had with this game from the first release date. negative comments can really stop people from buying games, which in turn can hurt us as the developer wont focus on a platform that is not selling their games well enough. So in short, please take a minute or two to place some positive feedback as they deserve it. And look for more great games from the developer and updates soon Xoomers!!
Yea the game is great and if it was worth it for you when you first bought it then you shouldn't be mad enough to want to rate down a developer just cause the price dropped. People need to keep in mind that they are reviewing the game as it was when they picked it up and games of this caliber are few and far between; I feel like even if you don't personally love the game, if you can appreciate what the developer is doing then you should rate up and let other people decide if the price is worth it for them. But I'm one of the few people that think that there are mobile games worth MORE than what developers charge for them.
It sucks for peeps that bought the game early at full price (me included) and the controls sucked, now that the controls are fixed and bugs fixed, the price drops half price, I think it should be the other way around.
Just my thoughts.

I agree with you!! We finally have some quality games for Android an people want to complain over price drops!! Name on developer that releases a perfect game n keeps the prices the same??
whoever complains are idiots and have so much time to waste, i bought it regular price and even though i didnt like it at first, it grew on me and i love it now, if only you can get us some controls like death rally that would be great.and yes, most developers drop prices after couple of weeks, for a limited time.

Good idea on the ccontrols, I will suggest that one. The tighter controls really make the game much more fun, I can now come in at first place most of the time.

I agree that it sucks; but decisions are made before the game comes out but the real world situation is constantly changing. They decided after a while to add control options and lower the price to entice new people to purchase the game and for this people who initially bought it are getting upset because they feel they were cheated? it's not like the developer tried to screw anybody and I don't think they deserve a bad rating because of this. If you really have issues then just contact the developer directly; but to rate the game down and therefore tell others who don't bother reading the reviews but just look at the stars the game isn't worth buying is silly. The devs are just lucky that overall the game has good reviews.
This is almost like getting upset that I can score a better deal on a new Xoom right now then those who bought it on day one, and mine would come with HC 3.1 which makes it better then when it first came out....
That doesnt make sense....

It doesn't at all..The developer is now as we speak preparing updates to this game, they want to keep the game fresh n exciting for us. How many Android developers do we have that give us this type of support, especially when the game hasn't sold well? They have been really great an to suffer in sales due to immature ratings is not just bad for them, but bad for us also...we need to show support for developers who deliver quality which the Android platform needs

It is like buying an Xoom and then two weeks later, they drop the price half price.
That doesn't make any sense, right...!?!?!
Evo Better Than The Best...
I also bought the game day one and hated the controls so i refunded it, if they didn't lower the price i wouldn't of given it a second shot (glad I did, cuase now its great) good move on devs part with the 3.99 price.

I still think the controls are haywire but I kept the purchase this time ( I had also previously purchased it, vomitted in my mouth a little and refunded ).
Just noticed 5by is now Chromecast-ready. From what I've read, it's from the makers of StumbleUpon, which I've wasted countless hours messing with over the years. It was also GeekWire's App of the Week about a month ago. Give it a try!

One of the nicest apps I've used. I wish something this nice is created for gathering movies and tv shows. Like the Watzontv app, but that app is so messy.
I didn't expect I would enjoy this app this much. Thanks for sharing.
