How to downgrade XL to gingerbread?

HTC Sensation XL ICS is terrible - I want to downgrade it to gingerbread and wanted to know how. A step to step guide.

I absolutely agree with u mate - it's terrible. I flashed official, then sense 3.6 and finally sense 4.0 all roms i could find there. I even made present to my bro ONE X cause ICS is crap. Phone was great itself, specially screen, but the way to controol the phone was total crap. It was enough for me with 1 day. I'm back on XL and gingerbread. In development threads u can found how to revert back. Unfortunately there is no complete guide how to get back - at least i did not see any.

I have made a script & it will do all the procedure for u.. uploading it now

Ok, here is a simplified procedure to downgrade:
Download this & extract on ur windows PC
Connect ur device to pc as Charge Only with USB Debugging enabled
goto the extracted folder & run Downgrade.bat
batch file will do the procedure from point no. 2 till 7 from this guide assuming u have a unlocked 1.28 bootloader
during the procedure, your device will keep on rebooting between recovery, bootloader & rom & u'll see some commands like sleep 30 which actually keeps a delay between the commands as the device needs to boot here & there
after the last command execution, ur device will be in bootloader (Fastboot state).. at this point, refer to point 8 of this guide..
you can get the specific RUU from football's thread of shipped rom collection..

You should create a new thread, a tool like the one you made is a really useful resource. It will be easer for people to find if it has it's own thread

Thank you. But I just used the version of the RUU you said and it said it did not work.

4.2.2 rom plzz!!!

can someone please provide me a 4.2.2 version stock rom , flashable zip through recovery....as i cannot s-off my phone. i am on hboot 1.44 and viper one rom 5.8.0...need it badly, having trouble with the network and wifi as the firmware is not updated and cant update as phone is s-on...please help

its a nandroid backup image , just copy the zip file to ur nandroid backups location and restore.. i am using it right now and its the best rom i've tried on HTC Butterfly S

This Rom used for butterfly s 901 e are not. My phone: firware: 2.16 Rom using musHD 13.0

i dont know about the firmware version ,, but i was using Maximus 13.0.0 and i restored the nandroid and it worked without any problem ...

My LP kernel will work.. my butterfly s screen burnt out.. otherwise I'd still be here deving

the xxminiwhooperxx kernel for lp work as well just note that if your phone is s-on , you must quiet from installation ( dont touch finish ) and reset manually

This firmware is suitable for all Butterfly s with a single SIM card? Just having s-off \ s-on \ root?

It's for 901E & 901S, you need the last TWRP and S-OFF, no root, it's a stock rom.

Yep I did it, and system looks to be rooted, but Titanium Backup wont work, and if I type "su" from ADB shell I see the famous error message: "only position independent executables (PIE) are supported"

Tried a new screen weeks ago and no go.. I think it's the mother board... no sense in fixing it.

Ok, remade with xXminiWHOOPERxX kernel (Thanks once again) and SuperSU Beta 2.49, now root is perfect.

Anyway compass don't work in this ROM, at least in my phone...
Edit: Compass is ok with original kernel.

that is the blue screen flicking many many many times

HTC ONE M7 Custom ROM issues

I have been using this forum for years and just now am posting for the first time.
I have a HTC ONE M7 originally from ATT that I used rum runner about a year ago to flash android HD which worked on the TMobile network about a year. Last month my phone went into bootloop and I could not flash a new rom or put any data on the internal storage at all. Long story short I used mkfs.ext4 to remount the data and no I can flash roms with no problem.
The issue I am having is that any rom(cyanogenmod,Viper,Android HD by Mike 1986) I flash just bootloops and wont load EXCEPT PAC-MAN pac_m7-lp-mr1-official-20150611.zip plus gapps. This load and run like a normal rom except the dialer doesn’t work, no sound, no video. It’s basically useless as far as doing anything other than playing a games and sending text messages. One more thing cyanogenmod will load but keeps resetting setup and if I push really fast I can get past the set up but will reset before i can really do anything.
I’m pretty much stumped at this point and any help is appreciated. Also my phone is S-On and using TWRP. Thanks advance.

The thread here was asking why he was having issues, it is known that if your s-on you will and can have major problems on gpe and aosp roms, I'm not here to argue with you. If your not contributing to helping him then why are you commenting on his thread?

My point is that you can run AOSP ROMs on s-on phone. The fact that all those ROMs have bugs does not have anything to do with security status of the phone

it's about the unsecured bootloader. *Htc *won't allow the phone to install unsecured... IE: non htc signed firmware, *if the bootloader is secured.So, *if you are installing a modified htc firmware, *it's okay.. But when you go to install aosp, *htc doesn't recognize that as legitimite firmware. Quoted from a dev that makes both sense and gpe/aosp roms. Go argue with him.

Can you please provide a link to something that explains unsecured bootloader? This is the first time I hear about that. And this is a legitimate question, not arguing in any way. I just want to learn

Yeah, i don't have time to look it up. I know that's the case because when i was s-on i would have trouble with aosp roms, now that I've been s- off I've never had trouble. Look around the threads you'll see allot of info on it. Sorry i don't have time to find it for you.

Right, you can't install an unsigned firmware on a s-on (secured) bootloader but a ROM is not a firmware. A rom is only flashing on the /system /data and /radio partitions which can easily be flashed with whatever you want as long as you have an unlocked bootloader, there is no htc signature needed to flash these partitions (and the recovery partition). Anyway, the signature verification is disabled when you unlock the bootloader (hence why you need to relock the bootloader if flashing a firmware or RUU on a S-ON phone)
The firmware contain the hboot, adsp, secondary bootloaders, drivers, etc... The official firmware is signed with HTC key and can be flashed on a S-ON phone + locked or re-locked bootloader. An unofficial/modded firmware (firmware is not a rom) can only be flashed on a S-OFF phone.
So in short, you don't need S-OFF to flash a rom, a recovery or a radio. These partitions are not secured.

Btw not trying to be rude with you and I hope you understand the difference between firmware/roms S-OFF/S-ON now. If not clear I'll be happy to answer your questions.
Now back to the OP
@insanitey1 can you post the output of "fastboot getvar all" (don't post your imei/sn). Also need to know what recovery (name + version) you are using.
Roms based on CM must be flashed using at least twrp 2.7.1.1. All Sense based roms must be flashed with least twrp 2.6.3.3. Also , all newer Sense roms (lollipop versions) need one of the latest(7.xx.xxx.x) firmware version( or version-main if you prefer) installed on your phone You can see your version-main when booted in the bootloader menu or from the "fastboot getvar all" output.

no os installed!,no backup ,no recovery.....(htc desire 510)

i tried to install a new rom ...but it seems that is not flashed properly.....i wiped erverything on my phone...including backup,recovery and all.......i have no os left....when i boot in recovery,it shows no os installed ....please help me ... i am new to this....
i tried installing dragon rom ...by flashing it in recovery...but my s is on(s-On) ....so no external roms can be installed ....please give me a solution so i can get an os on my phone...so i will turn s_off by sunshine.....then i can install new roms...now my phone has no os !....pleaaaaasssseeeeeeeeeeeee help!!!!!!:crying::crying::crying::crying:

Lmfao!! You're right it is because even though I said don't pm me about this I have 2 so far, "delete, delete"... I'm gonna give up with this 32 versus 64 bit issue because we've been over this so many times it's not even funny anymore!!

Yeah if you want to do that you'll need to download the Sunshine app and pay 25 dollars make the phone S-Off and this is the easiest cheapest way to do it go here http://theroot.ninja/ if you run into problems after paying for a license you can find @jcase or @beaups and many others in the chat room to help you with any problems with the Sunshine app.

Hey mike as u said i looked upon google,how to run ruu? But i couldn't find anything for htc desire 510..i read a xda forum ,where running ruu for htc onle xl was given.....do those steps also work for my phone?

Yes those steps will work for your phone because all RUU's run the same way... And about getting s-off free? No there's no other way to get it the only possible way is to go buy it from @jcase at http://theroot.ninja Other people charge 100 dollars to s-off and @jcase only charging 25 dollars for all his work is pretty generous if you asked me. His work takes hours upon hours upon hours and MANY broken cell phones so it's worth supporting the Sunshine app.
