Hi everyone!
While downloading the newest firmware update via Sony Bridge, my computer turned off. Since then, my Xperia Z won't boot:
I get the SONY-logo, then it just turns off again.
When:
Power + volume up: nothing happens
Power + volume down: it vibrates once + shows SONY-logo and turns off again.
When connected to a computer:
Power + volume up: vibrates once + red LED-light goes on, then vibrates three times
Power + volume down: nothing happens
What can I do?
Thank you!
Now downloading Flash tool and the French FTF of black97one... Hoping to fix it that way
Okay, sorry for bugging you guys I just fixed it:
Opened up PC Companion, chose "Restore phone" (in case of big problems) and it updated my phone. Needed to reconnect the phone while holding the volume down key in the last stage.

I have Galaxy Tab from Verizon and I tried to upgraded to Gingerbread but it didn't work and I couldn't get into the recovery mode to downgrade it back... I took it to some guy who said he can fix it but he couldn't, instead it now never turn on and only shows that its alive when I plug it to wall charger (it shows the mobile-triangle-PC image) it doesn't do that when I connect it to PC or without being plugged to anything!!! Power + Volume down does nothing, same for Power + Volume up!!!
Any suggestions?
have you held the power button till it turns off while plugged in? If you can force it to power off, you may be able to get it into download mode and go back to stock firmware that way.
I tried doing so before, after 7 seconds of holding the power button, the (mobile-triangle-PC) image starts to flash (go and come back) on 1 second pattern until I leave the button, it then gets back to the stable (mobile-triangle-PC) screen
I have bought a Second hand Ativ S and it turned out to be dev unit, it worked for the most part(occasional crashes), but recently it broke.
After it boots it gets me to a blue screen and then powers off. I can still access the download mode and the system files via USB. But I want to do a factory reset of some sort or at least be able to use it.
Can someone help me out with this? Is there a possibility to re flash it? or is there a combination of buttons i don't know about?

have tried to hard reset the phone by this steps?
If you can't access your phone's Settings page:
1.Turn off your phone.
2.Turn on your phone again by pressing the volume down button until you see the exclamation mark
3.Then, reset the phone by pressing the following four buttons in this order: Volume up, Volume down, Power, Volume down.
4.Your phone should now reset and restart itself. (It might take a while for the process to complete.)
And it didn't work for you? If not you have go to a Samsung store, probably they will flash you a normal OS to your phone...

I've tried that...it didn't work. I've also went to Samsung and apparently it made it worse. Initially my problem had a blue screen after booting but after I took it back from service the blue screen has disappeared and now the phone just powers down after the boot. THe guys at Samsung told me that the don't have the device number in their database and that the cannot do anything to it....so i'm hopping that some tool will pop-up and I'll be able to flash the device from home.
Also being an Engineering unit when I power the device based on your description it doesn't show me an exclamation mark it just goes dark and if i hook it up to the pc it shows as mass USB storage, and I can access the files on it. So there is something i'm missing for this device in particular.
Thanks anyway for your support.
Thank you again Jackson5...Really...Thank you, i've almost lost hope...after seeing your post and replying to it I said ....what the heck...lets try that again, and it worked...not with your steps exactly...I put the phone into a charger and it started to power up...Windows logo power down..and again power up and shutting down....Meanwhile I pressed Up on the volume and the exclamation mark appeared. and from there, suffice to say that I have a phone, again. So Thanks again

Same problem, help...
It seems Ive got the same problem with my Ativ S, I've tried everything and nothing is working...
Sorry, but can you tell me what buttons exactly and in what order did you press to get to the exclamation mark screen, please? I am sorry but I really cannot understand your explanation (your post) very well, you said:
"Windows logo power down..and again power up and shutting down....Meanwhile I pressed Up on the volume..."
Do you mean logo + power or logo + power + volume down or something else? I cannot understand the part "again power up and shutting down" either...
Thanks

If the phone powers down due to blue screen or any other problem you might encounter, connecting it to a power source will make your phone restart...so basically what happens is the Phone powers up reaches the error and shuts down, but because is plugged to a power source it will power back up. So while you are plugged with the device keep pressing those buttons... Having a Dev unit apparently it worked with the Vloume Up ...
-Press the Volume Down Key + Power Key to turn on the unit
- Still hold the volume down key, the release Power Key.
- Wait for the startup screen booting with an exclamation mark " ! " then release the volume down key.
- Press the following buttons in the following order: press the volume up (high volume key) ==> press volume key down (low volume key) ==> press the power key ==> press volume down key.
- Wait a moment and look at the screen, a message such as loading new software will start the hard reset process

Cheers, I'm stuck in here and i can't get further.
My machine is an T899 Engineering version
Hi!
I accidently pressed "apply .zip from sideload" in Clockwork Recovery, and now I'm stuck on a screen saying:
Sideload started...
Now send the package you want to apply
to the device with "adb sideload <filename>"..
.
How do I exit this/reboot? I've pressed the power button for about 2 min, and nothing happens..
EDIT: I really need help now! The phones battery ran out when in this Sideload mode, now when I try to charge it, it's only an orange LED turned on, and I can't turn the phone on! It doesn't vibe and the screen's just black!
EDIT2: The phone's on now, I just had one of those panics..
If you ever get in it again by mistake, and you have a rom .zip you could flash, flashing that will work the same as if you had selected flash zip from sd card. Rather than get the .zip from the sdcard though, it will get the zip file from your pc via usb.
I have no idea why we can't cancel or hard reset/power off in this mode.
check my thread here for what happened to me http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2200359&highlight=sideload&page=2
It seems left over drivers from my galaxy s 2 were causing me issues on my first 2 computers, but the 3rd computer was completely fresh with no previous driver installations and worked a charm to flash the zip.

huh i have xperia neo, xperia t, xperia x2, sammy s2 (miss's ex-phone) and friends nokia c-something and ofc xperia z installed here and i have no problems with drivers
I'd never had any issues either, that includes rooting, flashing CWM, bootloader unlocking and using flashtool with it. For some reason it didn't like like fastboot mode (threw back errors for any commands typed, the device was recognized, but not useable, it wasn't showing as [sideload] like it was once on the fresh pc)
Accidentally did that before also.
to get out of this mode. press the power button and Vol+ button until you get a vibrate confirmation and the phone screen blanks. keep pressing on the button combination until you get 3 vibrate confirms that would hard shutdown the phone. press the power button until the phone give a vibrate indicating its powering on.

You sure it was on the XZ when it happened to you? No button combination for any length of time works. I tried power, vol up, vol down, power + vol up, power + vol down, vol up + vol down. All for 10 sec, 15 sec, 1min +. Nothing.
I've been there too some time ago and after short period of panic and holding power for various length of time, I eventually pressed power + vol up (can't remember how long but not long for sure) which did the trick.
power + vol-up is the RPM cpu signal to reset the SoC and if you continue to hold it power off. however, there is something else you can do too, the mini adb that runs for sideload understands adb reboot.

On razr i, press power + vol-DOWN till the cel reboot... and its down
Anyone who gets here with the HTC One: power + voldown under a bright light (light sensor). I spent an evening trying every possible combination (this was the closest thread to the subject) until I read the 'under a bright light' thing elsewhere which did the trick.
it's work for me (currently using SG SIII mini) with (power) + (volume+).. it let me back to CWM "homepage" (the main page)..

in some newer versions xou can exit sideload by swyping to the left.
Hello, well as of yesterday my N7000's power button started acting up, first i got lots of sudden reboots (probably the 8-second powerbutton hardware reboot) and a few hours later my power button stopped working al-togetter.
I've seen some youtube videos where people with the same defect-powerbutton (tho on another samsung device) show how to turn on their device by plugging it in the usb charger and emediatly press volume down+ the home button.
My device is still turned on but it'd be a bit tricky to try that out myself.
I am curious if that works on our devices too, if anyone could test this method; thank you so much.
Any other methods/advice is very welcome
Kind regards.
(Device is running android 4.4.4: Omnirom)
try this (works for me) : place battery in the phone, hold (and keep held) vol - button and insert usb.. it should take you to the warning screen before download mode, where you can press vol - to reboot.
Hi there i have a HTC One Mini 2 and i have forgotten the swipe password (as in the pattern).
So i turn phone off and hold power and vol down continuously and all it does is boot up (really fast).
I tried power and vol up for download mode and that doesnt work either.
So downloaded ADB, running that through command prompt (admin) and it says that my device is unauthorised.
So.....i am assuming that the usb debugging is disabled on the device. As far as i know its not been rooted.
The volume up and down work fine so its not them that dont work.
So my question is, is there any way to completely wipe the device? If so can it be rooted and it work that way?
For the record, when i connect the phone to Laptop it shows up, i have downloaded the google usb drivers, also the latest htc drivers. I turned off Anti virus and Firewall too.
Thanks in advance.
Try this: When android is up and running, press and hold VOL UP + POWER untill you see message about phone rebooting in xx seconds. Just as the screen goes black, let go of both buttons and immediately hold POWER + VOL DOWN. It should reboot into Bootloader without any delay or vibration.
