White water indicators pink.,,? - Xperia Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
I realized today that two of my white indicatators are kinda pink (both micro usb and sd port).
Then I tested in the water because I bought it very recently, and if it was not water resistant I would trade in for a new one.
Then I washed, put it on a bowl, then I waited a bit, opened the ports, there was no sign of water inside the ports, just a bit outside, near the flaps.
Should I be worried or something?

There is many threads on this subject. Try searching and posting on there.
Anyway is the back of the phone raised near the top corner?

I read many topics, but I am asking about pink indicators but the water not entering the phone.
The phone is new, it is not raised in the back near the camera.

Hardware defect??

So lookin at so many pictures of this beautiful sleek designed phone, I've notice (in pictures), mainly in silver one that at the bottom (charging port) or maybe all around the white injected plastic in the metal isn't perfectly imbedded into the phone if u look very closely there's this a micro protrusion of the white material... Notice it's not evenly brushed with the metal body.
So in picture below carefully Notice the bottom of the phone and you'll see that it's not perfectly EVEN.
what do you guys think?
I know it's minor but thought to put it out there..

I think I don't care, other things to worry about in life than plastic being slightly off...
Just drop your phone the first day you get it so you stop worrying about it being perfect.
maybe this belongs in Q&A
that is most probably a review pre-production device and the angle of light makes it look worse b/c the device I played with yesterday i did not notice any problems
Like I said I know it's a small thing... But I noticed it and maybe the lucky once who have this beauty already could tell us if they notice this too..

Thanks
Yes preproduction unit would make more sense..
Sorry I posted it here n not in q&a, didn't think bout it when I posted it

Another samsung troll!
They are well paid this year

Why do you post such a thread? This as an obvious trolling attempt, as the pic is professional and you most probably don't even own the device.

Nexus 5 packaging + defect pattern

Can people list which version of the phone they got and what they did/ didn't get in the box.
E.g.
Black 32gb from play store.
No plastic film on the back and no manual book.
Noticed my box had two stickers on each side one of top of the other. The ones under looked torn open already.
One of the reasons I ask this is because my back plate has a weird pattern on the back. It looks like a damp pattern. Its at the top of the phone, where the imei sticker was and also below the LG logo.
I'm just wondering if my box was already open and resealed. Plus this annoying pattern.
Here's some pictures.

Mine was sealed with two bits of white tape, which were unbroken. Had a screen protector on with the nexus logo and the imei sticker on the back. No marks anywhere. In the box was headphones/charger (both sealed) and the quickstart guide with warranty book (also sealed)
Here's the other picture... Think I could only attach one on the OP.

Hi,
Recieved mine yesterday afternoon,
32Gb White, from Play Store, box was sealed with 2 strips of white tape, phone had screen protector with Nexus 5 on it and around all 4 sides of the phone had blacke protection strips. On the back was an IMEI sticker. All protectors & sticker were removed and no damage or residue left on the phone.
regards,
Doug
Might just RMA it.. Seems like people are getting their RMA's before original orders.
Just hope there is nothing wrong with the screen.
It only bothers me a little bit.. Just thinking of the resell value.

Oh I totally looked passes that! I think it was a mistype. Cause the wall adapter and USB cable are separate

Ah phew. In that case my packaging was fine. Everything I should have, and all sealed nicely. 32Gb white from play store.

Just called Google. Spoke to a very nervous gentleman.. Must be new or from a different department. Had to wait 20 mins to speak to some one.
I explained the issue and told him I can send him pictures. He spoke to his supervisor and then asked me if I dropped it or had contact with water.. I said no.
Waiting for them to send me an email so I can send them the pictures.
After that I should hopefully get an RMA

Well I hope to shed some light on this! My New 2013 Nexus 7 had a similar stain on the soft back! All I did was grab a micro fiber towel and damp it with water and wipe the whole back! And then dry with a dry micro fiber towel! Stain was gone and I was a happy camper! Give it a try!
What's great about the soft back is that scuff marks actually buff right out! I had tiny scratches when I first received it, but they are completely gone. Someone somewhere mentioned that they keyed it to death and every mark simply vanishes after rubbing it out.

I had similar marks around the "Nexus" logo of my 2nd gen Nexus 7 but only appear in certain light. I'll have to try what oupavoc did. OP's seems worse and the packaging is definitely suspicious. Hope you get a new one!
People are getting headphones with theirs?
Mine seems fine, had two seals, one over the the other (not sure if bottom one was broken or not). Had all the protective coverings.
But, no headphones...
I have already tried rubbing it with a micro fiber cloth.. It did work and then the patches came back.
I've just tried it again but much more aggressively.. Looks like its gone but will have to wait and see if it comes back again.
PS. Still no email from Google.

Mine was sealed and covered in film properly, but came with two Safety & Warranty booklets. Other than that (and a dead pixel), no problems to report.
Same problem here, it's gets worse with handling. I posted a photo in another thread since I didn't find this one. Cleaning hasn't removed it yet...

this looks an awful lot like the markings on the "demo/leaked" gear we saw released over the last few weeks, basically those same areas were covered with stickers to hide fcc/SN information and added a wide "not for resale internal use only" sticker.
maybe these units were repacked demo equipment
just a thought.

Waterproof if phone is bent?

When I look closely to the left side of the phone I can see it is bent down a little means the phone does not lay plain on plain surfaces. This was not from beginning but one week later without falling on the ground or similar. I think it bent due to heat.
Can anyone confirm this bending and is still using it under water, shower and what do ever?

Take photos? If you can see gaps, especially around the front glass or back glass, or if the side covers do not close flush, it's probably not waterproof.

After a week? Send it back m8, that shouldn't be happening, either the phones been heavily stressed or over charged or it simply has chips that overheat. Either way it's bad and shouldn't happen, there should be a 28 day exchange service and a straight swap should be on offer.
Photo?

[Q] Xperia Z Water Resistance Problems..HELP

I read this few mins ago and now im scared about it.
...yes its water resistent but valid for few months.. because it has litmus paper in every port which after few months will become red on exposure to water even withall ports closed and once it gets red your warrenty will be void and then the phone camera will start getting moisture and your image will be blur and then the service people will tell you about litmus and will ask you 80% of the phone value for new phone even if there is small problem as it can't be open...
IS THIS TRUE?
My paper is red on headphone jack port.
It became red, but the times I washed my phone all the flaps were perfectly closed.
Maybe, its water resistant for some months because the flaps will become ruined..
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
All my papers are red too. I even had water in my camera. My back came off(just a little) due to Heath and when I washed it the water got it.
Everything is still working but all papers are red.
I'm gonna RMA the phone soon because of black dots in the camera. I wonder what they will say.

yeah its true, you can check the discussion on the xperia z general forums about the backplate coming out unglued
Sony Xperia Z > Xperia Z General > {DISCUSSION}Xperia Z back glass coming unglued
just read carefully from the first post what are people talking about and you'll find out by yourself for me, i tread the phone water resistant features as an insurance for such unexpectecd thing happens. also, some people suggest that you can make the litmus paper colored white again by cleaning it or rubbing it with cotton buds using a small amount of bleach,
uhmm...

Water came in, so basically no warranty
All the papers on my phone were red, still got my phone repaired for free, they test the seals and the flaps and if any of them are faulty they will carry out the repairs free of charge under the warranty.

Still waterproof?

Hey guys, i have a really big question. In my country is hot now, its summer, i all day be in water ant takeing pictures with my brand new Z1, but.... I have a problem, i accidentaly cracked my back glass, not fulli, but just 1 line about... 3cm long. Line starts near sd card slot and ends about 1cm near aux port. Is it still waterproof?
Btw, i have a original protection film.
Sorry for bad english guys, i hope you understand me.

Man I really don't know.. I don't think you'll face issues even trying to take it underwater, but still if you don't know whether the film cracked too you should try to replace it.. If the asf is ok, then you should be ok bro....

No....
A crack means no longer airtight.

I...wouldn't try it. I think your phone just became "oh #*&$" accident water proof. ie. if you drop it in the neighbors pool or something on accident you're probably fine, but I wouldn't put the "1.5 meters/30 minutes" part to the test anytime soon.
This also probably compromises any warranty given on the water proofness. If they see that it has a cracked back they could easily use that as an excuse not to repair it under warranty claim.
Just like i thought guys, but i think its still waterproof, because the film helps glass keep in his place, and the edges of the glass is still glued. That crack is like hair, really small. Ill try to take a picture in the evening, because its morningright now.

Water will find it's way. If this crack is all trought, it WILL find it's way.

I'm still wondering: why shouldn't it be waterproof if the film is COMPLETELY covering the glass crack? I actually don't know if what I just said is true because I can't get a damn nothing from that pic :')

The film could have scratches or little tears in it itself...
Plus who is to say that the film isn't slightly lifted.
You are betting on a lot on a very thin layer of plastic.
Is it worth the price of a new phone?
It's like when you put beers in a cooler. Wait for the ice to melt and you'll see all the stickers on the beer bootle lift up and float on the water.
Simple physics, water will find the smallest whole, smallest gap, smalest opening and make it trough. That's the reason not all devices are IP rated, most of them don't even bother to manufacture something "tight" enough to get a rating, and even if they do, it's more likely a IPX7, not IPX8 like Xperia's.
Water is strong, and it will find its way.
http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/discover-more/water-and-dust-resistance/ look guys, Sony xperia z1 ip58
Sent from my C6903 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Yeah guys you're probably right.. The risk is not worth it
As already mentioned here.
It is not worth the risk, you get water in the phone and no warranty, because there is damage on the phone that was not there when you received the phone.
If a phone goes in that has water damage. They clean all the flaps to ensure no debris, then close them, then test the phone to ensure that the phone is watertight at 1.5m for about 30 minutes.
Water in phone = warranty, no water in phone = no warranty. It would be determined that water in the phone had to be lack of care from the user, not keeping flaps clean, closing them properly or even leaving them open.
Further to this, I am certain they would just say the crack in the glass was the issue, again deemed to be user negligence.
I've faced this problem before. I drop my phone on 3 feet high, and crack my front tempered glass protector. And guess what? My phone dead when I submerged it underwater for less than 30s. And yes, water going inside.
if you got air tester machine u lucky but i recommend you bring to sony center
