Previously I installed the exfat patch for the xperia z, today I flash my phone by recustomizing to Spain and preformed flash with PCC the root was deleted but the exfat remain untouched 4.2.2
Can any one check whether the exfat is natively supported by xperia z other way it is weird?
on leaked 403 4.2.2 ExFat was native supported!
i dont have unlocked bootloader
Official 4.2.2 aka 423 released today. You don't need unlocked bootloader for that.

Well, I am not asking whether I need unlocked boot loader to update to 4.2.2
BUT my question: does sony's official 4.2.2 natively support exfat
Yes. You do not need any patch.
I have both Z and SP, and both recognize 64GB microSD cards natively. (both formatted the card as exFat)

if you read the thread where the ftf was posted then it pretty much confirms exfat is supported natively now

Might be a stupid question, but what would be the best mnethod to apply exFAT to my SD which was FAT32 before upgrade to 4.2.2? - If I simply format the SD via settings-storage (after backup of data stored on it) will that automatically change the file system to exFAT or should I use an external SD card reader instead?
Btw, I was a bit surprised that I lost most of my data (at least everything, except media files and OpenStreet maps) on my SD after update to 4.2.2 via flashtool. Maybe during the update process the SD card (internal/external) was automatically re-formatted? DiskInfo says both internal and external SD use ext4. Whatever that means exactly (and I might miss the point or a threat I didn't find in which this is discussed), but I'm asking myself what the real advantages would be to switch at least external SD from ext4 to exFAT?

1.ROOT your phone and backup your external SD card!
2.Download the .ZIP file(here or here) and extract
3.Connect your phone to PC and run runme.bat
4.When asked for ROOT in your phone, choose YES, it will be done in a few secs(if something wrong shows up like "tar invalid tar magic“, try with another Busybox because the latest version messup with Tar file sometimes) and then phone will reboot
5.After reboot, disconnect your phone, go to settings->Xperia->Connectivity> USB Connection Mode, choose MSC and reconnect your phone to PC
6.Format external SD card to exFAT and disconnect your phone
7.Go to settings->Xperia->Connectivity> USB Connection Mode, choose MTP
8.ALL DONE. ENJOY!
Tested in my Xperia Z C6602 and works very well.

Thanks for this :good:, but i have a question . What will happen with files if we flash some other rom ? I guess we will have to format sd card every time we flash a new rom :/ ?
I think you need to run this exfat support if you change rom.

You can format the MicroSD card externally. I did it and it went just fine. This means that you can skip the 'switch to msc mode' step and the switching back.

I just did this with my locked bootloader. I haven't switched internal memory with microSD so I'm not sure about that, but if the kernel has exFat support loaded, why wouldn't it work?

so each time i want to write something through pc to my SD i need to switch to MSC mode? Because i cant otherwise
But... since I'm already bootloader unlocked and rooted, this "root" process would affect in any way my root?

Mount the card on pc using an adapter or working phone with mass storage option, then format with standard procedure (on Windows right click on removable disk and format), if doesn't work try to flash again stock JB, you can try another version if your device isn't simlocked to the carrier.

recovery.fstab is a part of the recovery image into kernel, you can't copy-paste it, you can only touch vold.fstab with root access. But this is not your problem because you have flashed stock ROM! As I said earlier: try to flash again a different version of stock JB or try downgrading to see if the problem is resolved.

Try with re-partition of your SD card. Maybe it is in ntfs format, as far I remember we do not have NTFS support out of the box (only with CoCore kernel).

First - what do you want to do? vold.fstab will swap your internal and external memory. And sure it will not help you see your SD card on PC or recovery.
I had problem with non visible SD card in recovery on GB - and solution was to partition it again.
Is not only to swap, but also to set mount points. Yes, I forget about repartition, said to format current partition in fat32 but he said that with an adapter or another device works

I want to move / install application into SD card.
I have another tablet 4.0.3 and that option is there also I saw on the net (different tablet models) info about this option being enabled when developer options are enabled.
Although some one mentioned that asus hide this option on transformers..
To sum up ... how to install app on SD? Maybe mount folder option (will try that next)

The tf701 stock ROM does not offer that.
You can try titanium backup (when rooted) and there are some apps in playstore that offer that.

Hi
I am on Xperia Z1, rooted, locked bootloader, .757, SDFix access fix, with dual recovery. I have an app call Link2SD and it requires to have a second partition on my sd card. They said to use a software called MiniTool... My question is, how do I proceed to partition my SD card without breaking anything like the installed Dual Recovery?

partitioning your SD card will not break dual recovery
However, I think you may find link2sd wont work on Z1
I never managed to get it to work on any FW with my Z1
and TBH, I don't really find the need for it anymore. I used it on my x10 and Xperia T but I have never run out of space yet on my z1

got any reply/solution from developer?
Well the next two days he provided the update to paid users for the /data part. But apparently /obb not yet. He briefly explained to me /obb is complicated because it is not linkable natively.
Hi MrLascivious,
How do you handle to get link2sd working in your phone?
I have an Xperia Z1 compact (original stock, kitkat 4.4.4 and rooted, bootloader lock), but link2sd can´t even mount the second partition.
It says: "App2SD is not supported by your device...."
Any idea?

I can use it in computer, and as the problem didn't occur immediately, so it's hard to test with other device.
I had a similar problem with my SanDisk 64GB. Unfortunately, the thing was borked. I could still read from it, but couldn't write anything to it. These symptoms appeared on both the phone and computers (via SD adapter and via phone's USB).

Well, the sd card is long gone now. But no, I wasn't able to. I would be able to move files onto it, via a file browser, but it would disappear on reboot or if I stuck the SD card into a computer. Which meant that nothing was written to the card itself.
