Is MTP suppose to be faster than usb mass storage?

Hi,
is MTP suppose to be faster for transfer of file to my micro sd card than when I mount my phone as usb mass storage?
I tried to transfer a 350mb file using MTP and it took about 25s while using usb mass storage it took about 1min 10s.
I also notice that for usb mass storage, the transfer speed is about 5MB/s which is half of my micro sd card rated speed.
I am currently using Criskelo v11.2 with speedmod k3-13. Thank you

Yes while using MTP you will feel the difference it is far superior than Mass storage mode. Read/Writes Faster

sahil, i wanted to ask about a problem im having, when i connect to pc and want to transfer big files theres a message on my Note saying synchronising . It goes on endlessly. It kind of freezes the phone and if I want to transfer a file the pc says N7000 is busy. I think this is in MTP. I can delete / transfer small files but not big winzip rom files from sd card !
what should i do ?

yes , i was trying that
In any case int/ext mass storage mode should be fast, if you start time from copy command to finish paste. Basically mtp initiation is slow.Though difference varies with number of files as well size of files.
Mtp - android handles input output, while mass.storage - works from block level. u can access just like partition of os.
MTP i think still not wotks with Linux.

It's not a storage per say, it's just when you plug in your phone to your computer, enable usb mass storage and gives you access to your sd cards.. on your computer.

Device memory : where the ROM is installed (is a part of USB storage exclusively for Roms and sys apps
Usb Storage : internal storage of the phone where apps store data
SD card : external SD

Half right and half wrong. Internal storage is space given to system rom and where apps are installed, usually up to 3 gb +/-. Sd card storage is the main amount of storage given to you by the phone to store all your data/app data/documents/folders, etc and the term includes any external SD card you have. USB storage is what I said before. You can only access your sd cards, whether the phone's or external, not internal storage

[Q] WMP can't see external SD card

I have CM9 on Note N7000.
The problem is Windows Media Player can't see the external SD card, but it can see the internal memory.
I tried switching modes between MTP and USB mass storage and that didn't work.
However, I can read and write the SD card in Windows Explorer just fine.
Is there any way to fix this issue?
I have the same issue with my Droid Razr HD. Any help?

You can use a program called "Android commander" It can push and pull files form your root directory, so be careful with what you do.
As far as i know, twrp gives you the option of mounting seperate partitions. Don't know about cwm. So if you don't wanna download another program, you can do that. And ofcourse there's always 'adb push'.
Cwm too gives you the option to mount internal/external storage. You have to go in 'mount and storage' then select the last option (I don't remember how it's called) and then you select to mount internal storage and you plug your USB cable.

(HELP) Access internal storage in MSC

Hello,
Today I wrecked the touchscreen of my Xperia Z. However there are videos and photos on the internal storage that I really want to keep. The problem is that the device is currently set to MSC and not MTP. Therefor I can't access the internal storage.
Is there a way to still access internal storage in MSC?
Is there a way to switch connection types without using the touchscreen?
It would be amazing if someone could help me out on this. :victory: My phone is not rooted and runs the latest firmware (Feb 2014).
Try with adb shell , mount the Partition, and copy Your files to an external_sd card
