104F equals 40C. That temp is fine. If you do some more intense gaming, it will easily exceed that.
For the phone to do that while not in use, however, could be a little worrying if it wasn't charging. The phone can heat up quite a bit when charging from a deep discharge. Still a bit hot for a charge.
I remember I once had my One X charging. I left for a while, when I came back it was super hot. No idea why, but it happened once or twice in the year that I had it.

My phone seems to get very hot when i place it for charging. It so hot that if i get a call i can't even place it by my ear. And it takes a lot of time to cool back down once i remove the charger.
Is it something that i'm facing or are there others also whoa are facing the same issue?
when the battery is bad, you get this kind of problem.
the charging current is too high for this battery, because the battery is not quite right.

I'll have to take the phn to service center then.

Seems the best option. Sometimes a bad battery slips through.
do you have warranty? Normally you get two years from htc.

Hi, there,
My note battery, or maybe system is a bit wired, normally when charging, CPU only use 200mhz, even in screen off mode, but today it was charging on screen off with CPU jumping 1400mhz, so it makes my note like no charge at all, but when screen on and do nothing the note CPU will drop till 200 MHz, any solution?

Do you have better battery stats and cpuspy installed? Have you tried a factory rs? Maybe something is running in background forcing such to occur?
Yup, I have them installed, I have this situation once, but it went well after a couple of battery taking out and cooling down, factory rs was my last touch, if using 3g, with 10mins of online game, the better battery show 13% used for an hour, is it normal?

13% per hour may be normal when 3G on & u r playing games..it may b even more if u r playing some heavy games..about the charging, AFAIK phone won't go to deepsleep during charging even if screen is off..so, processor will be running @ 200MHz..
Yeah I know, but this time it when to 200 on screen on, but 1400 when screen off.
Anyway, I already fact reset the kiddo, and everything seems to when back to normal, maybe is something I installed.
Thank you all for replying the questions.

Recently, twice in the same week, my Nexus 7 has been over heating to almost a burning heat. Now, every night I plug my nexus in and its usually around 30%. Then I put it under my pillow while I listen to a podcast and fall asleep. Then I wake up and usually it fine but today I got my temp gun and it read 138° F on the front glass. I looked at my battery status and it showed that it charged to about 80% and then the screen turned on and the battery was draining very fast while on the charger. I think that is when it overheated and the nexus couldn't vent air cause it was under a pillow. Would this screen turning on be a result of a bug in JB or could it be a rouge app? Or could it be that daydreamer thing that is like a screensaver.

What kernel do you use? Do you OC your CPU and GPU?
Oh, I'm sorry I didn't post those details. I am stock with android 4.2.1 with kernel 3.1.10-g22b4fcd. I am unlocked though

I looked at my battery usage history and my screen turned on around 3 in the morning and its draining the battery while its charging. So something is going rouge.

Download trinity kernel toolbox. This app will show you the cpu`s temp. The normal temp for the CPU on 1.3Ghz is about 60-75 °C...
dont keep your seven under a pillow while its charging,. thats the only way that you will get the battery temperature that hot. for a cpu temperature, 138F isnt hot. but for a battery temperature, 138F is very hot.

NEVER put these devices under a pillow while charging! You are asking for it to get fried. I did this with my phone once, and it was too hot to touch once I took it out in the morning.

OK, that solves the heat issue but how can I find what's drain the battery so fast.

Hey guys need some advice here. My one just recently hit 120F the other day and now that's a norm when charging. (screen off charging) Also, it will not charge even overnight, after about 6 hours the battery went from ~14% to 64% and the led was blinking red, battery indicator did not show that it was charging.
What can I do on my end? I know I'll probably have to get it replaced but I just wanted to know if there's anything else that will fix it.
Thank you

Try charging with the phone powered off. I know this might help cuz you need your phone on but it's the only option. After that send it back.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Blinking red while charging means the phone is too hot to charge. Wait until it cools down and try again.
You can also try a "battery pull" by holding down the power button while the phone is on until the capacitive button lights start blinking and keep holding it until it turns off. Temp sensor might be stuck.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Yeah ill try doing it powered off. It's weird cuz that's how I always charge it, but hey its hitting 100F ambient temp here so maybe that's it. My phone also gets super hot when watching a video and can drain a full battery in about 1:30 hours

Might try a battery stats app and see if something is running away on you. I occasionally use opera browser and found it would kill my battery really fast with the screen off if I didn't actually exit out of it - can't ever leave it in the background. Maybe you have something similar...

Are you using the stock power adapter?

maybe try doing a nandroid backup and then factory resetting before an overnight charge to see if it the same on a clean phone...

I put my phone on the charger last night at 1%, went to sleep. Woke up this morning and it was off. Turned it on while it was still on the charger and it was at 6% Notice on the far right of the screenshot it got fully charged then died on charger.

Also sometimes my phone likes to turn off by itself. Have to hold down volume down+power then let go of volume for it to come on.

Check for corrosion and gunk in your charging port and connector. If none found try a different charger. The picture you submitted shows a quite odd report. Also could try wiping battery stats... but I think you might need an unlocked phone for that.

I have a similar problem. It just started recently. I had 19% and then I dropped to 1%. I charged it and had to reboot my phone for something when it was 14% and when it turned back on, it was at 3%.

Has anyone tried another charger that has higher amp output, I use iPhone @ 1.5 amp charger and works great, also AHD phones need minimum .750 amp chager.
Has anyone tried also to re-calibrate battery?

I have. I had this issue just once, but after that, my battery life its been worse. I feel like I have a 20% of unused battery or something. I have calibrated it multiple times with no luck.
