Does anyone know whether Telstra have issued their S3 4G phones with baseband versions other than DVALI5?
DVALI5 was the one that shipped with my handset from Telstra, but it seems to have 3G/4G reception issues with my phone when using a CM-based ROM (currently SentinelROM 4.75). 3G/4G response times slow down a lot compared to when I'm using a Touchwiz-based ROM.
I tried another baseband version (can't remember which one) previously, but it made the connection even worse.
My current baseband is DVBLL3 haven't had many issues at all. I believe its newer that your existing one..
Ive got an unbranded s3 4g and use it on telstra and mine came with/ still on the same one above and havent had any issues

Hey Guys,
I have a GT-i9000 (Unlocked) and after a few firmware upgrades I have been noticing worse call receptions (more drops) and worse 3G data performance.
For example, I once had near perfect reception and few call drops along my drive home, now (5 firmwares later) I have been dropping calls like my old iPhone (actually worse) and what is more upsetting, yesterday my friends with their iPhones all had signal while I was getting the no service icon.
While i know the Captivate users can use the i9000 kernels (but swapping out the modem file) I wonder if anyone knows if I can use their Captivate modem file (JG8) instead of the one that comes with JM7 to fix my issues with reception and 3g performance .
What functionality will i lose? I travel to Germany often, will that cause issues with 1900Mhz and 2100Mhz bands ?
Is there any other reason that my signal would be so poor?? I really need help with this.....
Is anyone else using an unlocked i9000 on AT&T and having poor voice calls (signal/drops)?
What firmware are you using now? I would like to see if this relates to my issue.
I'm using JPC on my Bell i9000m and am starting to wonder if the reception is not as good as with JH2... I am contemplating using the JH2 modem file with JPC to see if it helps...
Coincidentally, I'll be in the US in a few weeks so I want to ensure I have good reception on AT&T as well.
i am using JM6
Just tried the modem from the the Captivate JG8, it would not even install.
So I am running JM7 now.
I will see how many dropped calls i get today.
JPC stopped booting for me and I am on JM7 as well - I'll post my comparative results as well tomorrow.

Just did some tests with my wife's iPhone (3gs) and my galaxy s.
Passing the same dead zone and her phone could make calls and mine would fail.
I wonder if i put it on gsm mode only if that would help.

Hi, was just interested to hear other peoples experience with certain modems in certain countries. Im in Australia and am currently using jpp and was wondering for issues such as reception and data speeds is there certain modems we should use in regards to where we live?
I havnt notice much dif with modems except JPM modem hangs on me often. Currently using JP0 and it seems stable. speed wise I havn't noticed any dif as Optus is always screwed due to over selling its network. Btw you are using optus too
Yeah Virgin using Optus just heard other people saying this modem does this and that compared this modem which doesnt etc just got me thinking cause we are flashing european firmwares maybe we should be using certain one.
I've been using some of the custom roms and have lately noticed that when I do road trips, I have terrible coverage if any at all. I'm fortunate enough to have two other phones on different carriers (mine being telus, work phone is Bell and wife is Rogers) and the other two have full bars. I even used the OEM APN's in the custom roms. Sometimes rebooting fixes it but not often.
I've noticed this with v20O roms but haven't been able to try other versions. I'm wondering if it has something to do with being in North America? I've recently noticed that we've just got a v20i for my carrier that I am now trying.
My question is to other people in NA, specifically in Canada what versions of custom Roms have they been using and if they experienced poor coverage while traveling?

I had same problem with v20o. My phone was v20j from koodo. So I injected cwm into v20j kdz and flashed with that .been perfect since. Check out thread v20j for How too same procedure for v20i hope that helps
Thanks. So you ended up going with v20o? (Zeus I'm guessing) and its OK now?
I'm curious if the region makes the difference.

No injected cwm into my stock firmware and then installed superuser zip worked perfectly. Look up thread root v20j thread I posted
Hello everyone
I recently bought an HTC One (Carrier: Orange CH) in Switzerland which, technically, is capable of using LTE.
Even before my number was activated (took them like 2 weeks) I flashed the custom ROM Android Revolution HD 10.1 (kernel seems to be 3.4.10-gd6f147e), choosing the International version during the Aroma Installer process.
So, here's the problem: I'm unable to connect to LTE in any way. I tried dialing *#*#4636#*#* and selecting "LTE only"-mode (which left me without signal), rebooting of course, flashing a different kernel (reflashing Android Rev later) and contacting customer service, which - as expected - brought forward no results other than "try waiting a few days".
My question: Is it possible that a custom ROM/kernel can either a) modify the radio or b) discard certain frequencies on software basis (since the US have different frequencies for LTE this seemed quite likely to me, however, I have no problems with HSPA+ and UMTS).

AFAIK the ROMs currently do not flash new radios. You might find better and more help on the ARHD forums though I searched on Google http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks but I couldn't find Orange Switzerland.
However, in Malaysia, many have been complaining of not being able to receive LTE and the solution was to ask the telco for a new Simcard since only the newer sims supported LTE. Might wanna try that
Hey thanks for your reply!
I'm kinda relieved that it probably wasn't my fault. If nobody tells me otherwise (can't hurt to hear a few more opinions though) I'll ask Orange to test my SIM on another device. It *should* work since I bought it together with my phone, but there were some issues with activation and other stuff, so maybe it's their fault after all.
Greetings to Malaysia and a sunny weekend!

Hey guys,
Just wondering for those of you who are also using Google Edition on 4.3 (whether purchased a GE or "converted" to GE or just applied the latest radio from GE [4A.18.3263.15_10.38h.1157.04L]) and are on AT&T if you've noticed a decrease in network service on this new radio.
I was using the latest AT&T radio (the one that enabled the additional bands) for a couple days after it came out before 4.3 - Friday night after 4.3 came out I used the conversion process to GE so I could flash the 4.3 OTA, and along with it the new firmware and radio and since then I've noticed my service to be lacking. At first I thought it was just the visual indicators (even my WiFi never had full bars and that was in a 600 sq ft studio apartment!) but today now that I'm back to work in an LTE area (I live in Los Angeles), I'm only getting HSPA (indicator says H, not LTE now).
I know I can easily flash that other radio again, and I probably will. But, just curious on other's experience with the GE radio.
I would stick with the att specific radio that enables lte band 2 and 5 as it has made a huge difference for me there were areas I only got 1 or 2 bars in city
Not anymore 3-4 bars always till I go outside of city

I am not running the GE rom, but on Sense rom and I ran both. I found the initial one that unlocked the bands (4A.17.3250.20) was a great improvement for my network speed on LTE. I only ran a few tests on the newer GE radio but I do think it is a little slower, and just barely. However I have stuck with the latest radio becasue I think the battery is better when using LTE even if the speed isn't quite as good. Not a very large difference mind you, I'm talking like an average of 1-2 Mbps slower on the download side only. So could be nothing, since I didn't do lots of tests on both.

Yeah, I think I will go back and see how it goes. I was wondering if GE radio also enabled those LTE bands for AT&T but I'm assuming they did not? Is there any way to test for sure I wonder aside from just "visual cues"?
I applied the 4.3 GE RUU on my 64GB DE HTC One and am getting ~20Mbps compared to 30+Mbps with the 4.1.2 stock rom.
Has anyone tried applying the ATT radio on a 4.3 GE rom?
Thanks!

bump~ anyone?
I did the full convention when the 4.3 ota dropped. Wasn't a big fan of GE so I converted back to sense, but left the firmware and radio in place simply because I was lazy. I flashes the newest at&t radio a few days ago. I now LTE at my house consistently where as I didn't get LTE before. I haven't done any speed tests since its not a big deal to me since I use wifi about 90% of the time.

Baadnewz's InsertCoin 3.0-14
Flar2's Bulletproof 4.3
I applied the radio from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2388809&highlight=fastboot and now I'm getting much better speed with AT&T. :good:
