I read a Google + post by cyanogenmod stating that after android 4.2, they will stop support for tegra 2 devices. I was wondering what is going to happen to our beloved GT i9000. Now i know that the GT i9000 isnt a tegra 2 device but the post got me worried, and i wanted to know what you guys are thinking?
i dont use tegra, so i got no point bout that, but its quite dissapointing as they prefer abandon their user rather than supporting them
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Apparantly it has somethig to do with tegra 2 devices being NON-NEON and android moving towards devices with NEON support
Update (Only affects Exynos 4):
This doesnt affect us (GT i9000) directly but affects Galaxy S2 users. Apparantly cyanogenmod have had problems with Galaxy S2 support since CM9/ICS so they are only getting Nightlies for the forseeable future. I wonder where that leaves us GT i9000 users?

i don't think so. even honeycomb will not come in our tab officially but thanks to Spacemoose1 we will have HC soon.
I dont think so either.. I got my tab 6 months ago and feel like its already outdated by the dual cores out now like the xoom and new galaxy tab 10 and with the new icecream comming up I dont think that itll be getting the update.. Also by hearing talk of quad cores coming out.. Im not 100% but I have read they want to push the new android cause the new apple os they want android phones n tabs based on the same instead of froyo n gingerbread on phones and honeycomb on tabs. Who knows we might end up seeing it... Until they announce it we wont know for sure.
Galaxy Tab is a high end device, samsung should take care of their high end customers.
If not, there is CyanogenMod. I get android 2.3.5 faster than Samsung's release
I might get Ice Cream Sandwich faster than Samsung release as well
Guys, we will always get faster releases from Spacemoose, the CM team, ect, as it pertains to the Galaxy Tab. Unfortunately, the device was "dead on arrival", and has seen almost zero support from the carriers or Samsung. I firmly believe that (while the Tab is spectacular) it was nothing more than a "feeler"… a test product, thrown into the market, in order to guage the public's desire for tablet devices. I'm pretty sure that the 10.1, Xoom, and other tablets were already being tested when the 7" Tab came out, and that it was always the plan to make the 10" tablets the real "powerhouse" devices. Fortunately, we have great devs on XDA, who thumb their noses at Samsung's lack of support, and work hard to get us at least one or two really excellent ROMs. No doubt, we will never see a Honeycomb or ICS OTA, but Space is working to complete the Honeycomb 3.2 port, and I'm sure we'll see an ICS firmware almost as soon as it drops! Happy flashing guys!!

im not pretty sure about this but i read some things about this 4.0.5 and it was said it was going to be released on i9000
4.0.5 said to be has a BIG performance fix..
i got this news from this link
http://www.androiddigit.com/samsung-galaxy-nexus-and-nexus-s-to-get-android-4-0-5-ics-in-march/
Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S
The news link clearly states only the galaxy nexus and nexus S. Plus it was abundantly made clear in older news posts around the net that the i9000 is not getting ICS and neither will it get the rumored Value pack. As I too am a i9000 user, it kinda sucks to know this
i know samsung said something like that...
but.. dude i think theres a big possibility due to this
Performance FIX thing.. because thats the only one stopping from galaxy S to ICS is Performance..
I'm no great shake on what appears to me to be French, but...
1) Your Article was written for the Nexus and Nexus S and not for the GT-I900Xx (a.k.a the Galaxy S)
2) Where the Article in question even mentions the Galaxy S (Some Table taken from a presumably French source), states quite clearly (even to a non French speaker like myself that the Galaxy S is to only get Android 2.3.6 (Presumably the Value Pack Version), release date February 2012 to be released over Kies.
To indirectly quote your Source it was a table of Official Updates for their current line of Phones.
So I fail to see where you misread this Article into thinking that the Galaxy S was somehow going to get an ICS Update, when Samsung have up to this point stressed that they would not, or could not officially update the GT-I900Xx do to whatever limitations between Touchwiz 3.0 and ICS.
**Edit** What Samsung we're not even gonna get the Value Pack now?
/r/ Sauce kthnxbye!
No chance! Wishful thinking at best. SGS is useless with its 512mb RAM. Either that or the software engineers at Samsung can only compile bloat. The latest iOS seems to function perfectly on iphone4 though. Split between whether i should wait for SGS3 or grab the next iphone and jailbreak the hell outta it. Hmm decisions decisions...

U really think galaxy s1 will get Android 5?

common guys...what makes you thinking that we'll get android 5?
Samsung will forget our phone, if he doesn't yet....
there's ported sgs2 ics firmware for sgs, it's on pre alpha state but its working very good, i'm using it right now
sgs has enough power to ics to work fine
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA
Samsung might forget us, but XDA devs won't! And if the unofficial ICS builds are any indication, our phone sure is powerful enough to handle ICS.
It sure does suck that we're not getting official ICS, but the awesome community here has infinitely improved my experience, so for that I'm glad and grateful.
Like Samsung is going to go trough the trouble of making an ICS version for a phone that is almost two years old.
I'd rather have them focus on creating top-notch software for my next phone..... The SGSIII......
Hey folks, this may seem like a dumb question.
I've got a 16GB WiFi-only Galaxy Tab 10.1 (GT-P7510). I'm running AOKP on it and I'm somewhat happy with that, but I'd like my camera and other stuff to work. As far as I can tell, the only way that's going to happen is after the stock ICS is released (need the stock ICS kernel for the hardware to all work correctly). There's no ETA on the official release of ICS for my device, just that it will happen "sometime". I registered my device at:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/account
Is there any other / better way to get notified when ICS is released / leaked? Is this the best forum to be looking at for such an announcement?
sorry. it seems many people viewed this thread, but no one replied.
I, too dont know the answer maybe you can try posting in Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 forum, bec. this is the galaxy tab P1000 and galaxy tab P1010 forum (i think)
Someone could create support for these two options in the Galaxy Tab P5110
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk 2
It will be great to see Multi-windows option on our Galaxy Tab 2.
Maybe Samsung will make it for us. Unfortunately, I think, Samsung can't do this, because Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is no longer top model of Galaxy Tabs. Now Samsung Galaxy Note II is newsest, and it is Samsung's eye in head
Waiting for modders, who's can make it for us ...
Samsung is a shame that as soon leave this tab, but I guess if you can create multi-window support. In the S2 have introduced multi-window support, ripple effect and ink. What is required is that some developer support us will try to get help to bring these improvements to our tablet
Enviado desde mi GT-I9100 usando Tapatalk 2
It will not to be easy.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 is commercial tablet. There's no much difference between Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 ...
One thing making Samsung politics is buissnes. That's all. Samsung want a lot of money and they are not interesting in older devices which makes less of money now. Sad but true.
I thinks it is possible because note 1 n7000 don't have multi windows et ripple effect et alliance team make this
I am small dev I make rom for note 1 and note 2 but not release in xda for my reason...
If you want we work in integrated this goodies?
Because section tab 2 is dead pffff
Pm me if you want and sorry for my English very bad looool
Yes it could be done, if someone will port the mods from the threads below to work with some of our ROMs once we get JB 4.1.2 from Samsung.

What a ridiculous comment. Samsung does a good job of software updates for older devices. Better than most. Remember they make no money from updating your old device and the reason to be in business is to make a profit, not to cater to every whim of power users. Most people that own these tablets wouldn't even know what a software update is and could care less. They just want it to work and be reliable. So think the fact that Samsung churns out dozens of updated for a multitude of devices in variety of languages is pretty cool.
I once purchased a HTC Flyer, cool device , great hardware, pretty damn expensive. It never received one single software update and HTC dropped support for it after 4 months.
Samsung just put out a JB 4.1.1 update for your tablet this month. You expectations are unrealistic. Do you expect Samsung to assign a personal developer to you to support your every whine on a daily basis?
Want This sooo bad
Sent from my GT-P5110 using xda app-developers app
It would be great to have it, but as I can see there is not one single custom ROM based on stock JB for the P5110
I wanted to try doing it myself, but I wasn't even able to make cygwin work on my PC...

is it possible to hv multiscreen?
just want it so badly....
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
of course it is possible on the part of devs, to a certain extent.
you need special kernels besides hardware support. Note 1 got a few leaks from samsung and got many other features of Note 2 going like airview, multi-windows, ink effect
xperiacle and nanomet have ported features from the tab to make certain features to work on Note 1 like floating multiwindows that can be minimised, multitasking
my knowledge is surface knowledge. without sammy support in the form of leaks it wouldnt have been possible for Note. otherwise Cyanogen would also give these features even though they are releasing 421 now.

yep you are right, that post was supposed to go in the Samsung tab 7 Plus thread.
But anyway, yes its possible using the same methods the SII uses.
yes, but there are a lot of developers in the S2 threads, I just hope there is at least a developer having the samsung galaxy tab 2 that will know how to do it and then share it with the rest of us

in addition to the mini galaxy s3 are also a holder of a galaxy w, and this section of the galaxy w I noticed that even came CyanogenMod 10.1 amazing, however the mini galaxy s3 has not yet reached even the CyanogenMod 10, but when you give more consideration to this phone? we are growing day by day we owners of mini galaxy s3 but no one considers

CM10 is being worked on but it takes time without cource for NovaThor U8500 soc. S3 mini is a pretty new model compared to the Wonder and Arco is still in alpha stage with it for W. Just imagine how many hours he must have put in on that project. Just give the devs some time, and i'm sure we'll se an alpha when most things work. :good:

You complain too much bro..Give the devs some time..do you think its easy to make a rom without the proper sources?they'll have to write all those codes from scratch..
and if you want..why not make your own?so you wont complain about the slow development here.

First of all it's not an s3, it's an s3 mini. Can't be compared to s3 when it comes to hardware.
i8190 was released in november 2012 I think and that wasn't a worldwide release. Of course things gets slowed down. Security was also tightned on this one so we didn't get a working custom recovery untill end of januari.
if you really need CM for your device you should pick an older one with official support from CM team.
The normal target date for official CM support is about a year. This means that there's usually a working-ish port ready about six months after the device launched, and this phone launched just five months ago. Give Maclaw time to work on it.
Sorry if this question has been already asked.. I'm not quite sure: Some state that source codes are released, others say they're not. Being on a SGS2 without proper source code, I'd like to know if SGS3 mini documentation is fully available (= developer-friendly).
Thanks in advance,
