[Q] HELP! Unable to modify/flash partitions - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, multiple strange issues, but starting from the beginning;
Purchased the HTC One from my local provider, the CID for this is BS_US001 ( Brightstar US 001 )
I had gotten an unlock token from HTC and flashed successfully, and also loaded CWM as well, about a week later, I restored the factory using the provided image from HTCDev.com ( PN07IMG_M7_UL_JB_50_BrightstarUS_WWE_1.29.1540.3 ) This successfully removed the ***TAMPERED*** status, but continued keeping the ***RELOCKED*** ( This isn't a big deal ).
My problem:
When I unlocked the bootloader again, I flash a customer recovery, and get a SUCCESSFUL message, yet, when I restart the bootloader, no ***TAMPERED*** at the top, the phone will not boot into the custom bootloader, however, when I flash into the stock one, it works just fine and shows the phone with the red /_!_\ over it.
Unfortunately at this point, I have been seeing strange issues since, the phone has provided errors similar to "Too many links" when trying to change the SuperCID and when trying to use the moonshine S-OFF, now I can't make any modifications. Any suggestions? I'm stumped after reflashing the RUU.

[Q] Yellow Triangle, Security Warning, Customer ID error

Hi all,
My Incredible S now refuses to boot and I can't flash it. Here's the story:
It was a factory unlocked device with S-ON. AlphaRevX successfully managed to get rid of that, and GingerBreak rooted the device in the first attempt. It was working fine until, for a stupid reason, I decided to go back to factory ROM. So I downloaded one from another thread here and ended up with famous yellow triangle. Removed the battery and the problem started.
It keeps showing HTC logo then restarts.
I've tried many ROMS but all of them ended up with Customer ID error. I see "Security Warning" message on the Bootloader screen and S-ON is back.
Here's all the information I can gather from bootloader screen:
VIVO PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 1.09.0000
RADIO 3805.04.03.27_M
I'd appreciate any kind of help.
Regards,
Hossein
I am in the exact same boat and I made a thread about it here:

Read through the posts to find out what you can do to fix (its not much).
Let me know if you can actually fix it...

Whenever you get an invalid CID or customer ID when trying to flash a ROM, it means that you need to create a goldcard to flash the ROM because your phone may be S-OFF, but it is not carrier unlocked.
You situation is not unique however. You are the 3rd thread that has posted the 'Security Warning' and getting set back to S-ON. You may want to check out the other threads to see if they were ever able to get it resolved.

Hi,
Thanks for the link. I actually cannot try XTC Clip as I don't have it. Gold Card is not an option as I simply don't know what is the CID of my device.
I tried to flash mine with stock RUU, but this time got "Bootloader version" error which means I can't downgrade. It is an Arabic ROM (the latest OTA update for my device named "OTA_Vivo_Gingerbread_S_HTC_ARA_2.30.415.1-2.12.415.5") so I guess I need a stock Gingerbread Arabic ROM for HTC Incredible S, which is not available AFAIK.

Hi,
It is S-ON and carrier unlocked but either way I believe I need to know my CID to create a gold card (please correct me if I'm wrong). As the device is not booting up, I can't read the CID, unless there's a way to read it in bootloader mode.

Hossein
I have the same problem,I flash the eng-hboot and then i used goldcard to flash the ruu,the bootloader was s-on and when i power on,it only enter fastboot mode, some one know how to do ? jtag now can't fix it

I think I messed up my One...

So I was fine yesterday, went through all the steps to get a full GE One. Was very curious
I like sense better though personally, so I wanted to go back. I have changed my MID back to it's original values and the CID to HTC__001.
In RUU mode after entering fastboot, it will no longer allow me to flash anything, with a 'unknown 99 error.' I also wanted to get S-on again, so I went through the steps and all was well. Or so I thought. Kept getting error -6 and error -1. I also relocked the bootloader. But now I can't boot into Android, and there are three tags over the Bootloader now. **TAMPERED** **RELOCKED** and **Security Warning**. If I try to boot to the OS or recovery it brings me straight back to HBOOT. Anything I can do to resolve this mess? Thanks in advance.
EDIT: I forgot to mention that I flashed back to an original HBOOT before attempting any of this. 1.54.
I think this has happened because you've relocked your bootloader, whilst having a custom recovery installed.
Just use htcdev.com to unlock your boatloader

Help with locked bootloader and S-On

I have to sen my phone in for repairs so I've been trying to return my phone to stock. Everything was working fine, I changed my CID back from Super CID, had stock rom and kernels etc. When I had to relock my bootloader and remove the tampered warning, I followed the instructions and all seemed to be fine so I S-Oned and rebooted. The first time it worked fine but I rebooted into the bootloader to make sure everything was still good.
This is where the problems arose. The phone went into a bootloop but I was able to get it back to the bootloader. The problem is that it now shows the TAMPERED flag as well as a SECURITY WARNING flag and the phone won't boot. I'm now stuck with a locked bootloader, S-On and a bricked phone.
Is there anything I can do?

known problem, when going from s-off to s-on on hboot 1.55, you should have done it before 1.55!!!
you need to unlock and get s-off again using rumrunner, then check my guide in my signature.

Thanks for the reply. I've tried to use rumrunner but I keep getting this error message:
"ERROR: run rumrunner again and READ (no adb connection to device. Debugging on? Drivers?)"
So I'm trying to get the unlock email from HTC but it won't send. It says it's successful but won't appear in my email. Is there anything I can do?
EDIT: Their site was under maintenance. Bootloader is unlocked.

[Q] Can't unlock bootloader via HTCDev

Help! I have previously s-off and unlocked bootloader and converted to GPE. Recently before sending to service, I have used Guru Reset to make it back to stock. Being desperate in erasing rooting traces, I have re-locked bootloader and s-on. Big mistake here as now I realize I can't unlock my bootloader via htcdev anymore, the disclaimer screen does not show no matter how I try. I am on the latest firmware, so Firewater does not work too. Basically I've tried everything I could find. I'm kinda stuck as there are no latest ruu to match my version, I could not s-off without unlocking and I could not unlock without resetting using a matching ruu. Any suggestions?
If motherboard is not changed then you can use previous unlock.bin file
from HTC One

[q] at&t m7 relocked, s-on, tempered, security warning

My AT&T M7 was bootloader unlocked, S-OFF, TWRP installed, Custom ROM (PA), and rooted. I wanted to sell it so I got a SIM Unlock code from AT&T. I went to input the unlock code and it wouldn't work. Apparently you have to be on stock hboot (which I wasn't since I did the google play edition conversion a long time ago) and on a stock ROM (which I also wasn't). So I tried to restore through an RUU.exe and it wouldn't work. RUU.zip didn't work either. So I restored my CID to CWS__001 and that didn't work (I had super CID before). I restored back to stock hboot 1.44 easily. Then I guess I somehow started just clicking random combinations of things inside of HTC One Toolkit and managed to relock my device and s-on so that I could try to restore a stock RUU. I must have done that incorrectly though because now I have no ROM installed, no recovery installed, and I'm S-ON with a message that says "security warning". I'm unable to flash a ROM since I don't have a recovery.
I went to HTC Dev to get an unlock code, which I did, but fastboot bootloader unlock says successful and does nothing. Additionally, I am unable to flash a recovery because I am S-ON.
Help! Any way to get S-OFF trough fastboot only without a ROM installed? Any way to force flash a recovery? Any way to force flash a ROM? Any way to get RUU to not spit out error 158? HELP!!!

LOL @ randomly clicking and ending up with S-On and locked bootloader. That's a great way to mess up your phone .
Deepening on your fastboot output, you are probably SOL.
oh no,
locked bootloader + GPE =

yep we will see.
I also heard of someone lucky here who had a rep from HTC helping him. That guy from HTC compiled a custom firmware package signed with HTC private key (which will allow it to be flashed with s-on and locked bootloader). Once the firmware is flashed, it will unlock the bootloader. That was the only time I heard about this kind of thing and i'm not sure its approved by HTC and will probably not happen soon again.
Similar situation, but haven't gone backwards yet
I just bought a AT&T-locked HTC One M7 and mistakenly thought that rooting and s-off would unlock the SIM. I've also requested an unlock code from AT&T, but if what he's saying is true, I'm going to have to revert to a stock AT&T phone as well.
So my question is, How do I go backward without screwing up the same way? I have made some recovery backups of the original ROM but the bootloader was unlocked already. Took me a long time to figure out how to go forward in the process and I wasn't really concerned about having to re-lock anything because it's beyond the warranty period.
I'm running the following:
Bootloader unlocked
CWM Touch Recovery backups along the way
Firewater for S-Off
Venom ViperOne ROM installed
Bulletproof kernel
Firmware upgraded to 6.09.401.5
I'd really like to un-do as little of this as possible. I'm wondering what part of the modification is detected by the SIM unlock code process.
I'm kind of a noob, but this is my second Android phone that I've rooted and modded in the past couple of weeks, so I'm getting better. I'm very frustrated that unlocking the SIM is such a big deal. Any help you can offer is appreciated.

your situation isnt really comparable to OP's situation.
You just have to use the sim unlock code on a stock rom or "close-to-stock" rom like arhd (might also work on venom idk)
If you have to return stock to use the sim unlock code, you can use the stock odexed rom of 6.09.401.5 on available arhd blog download section. just make a nandroid backup of your current setup, flash the stock odexed rom, sim unlock using the code and then revert back to your venom rom using your nandroid backup.
or with s-off, simply ruu your phone, use the unlock code then flash the rom you want to use.
Got it working

Thanks again. Just bought an unlock code for $5 off one of those sites and it worked without doing any changes to the ROMs and other mods. Thanks for the tip about going back to stock easily though. Might want to set that up just as a backup.
