I recently bought a 2nd hand HTC Incredible S - downgraded hboot, S-OFF , using CWM recovery, installed Lacoste CM10.1
It has been running smoothly and works on Wi-Fi and connects to internet on 2G - but refuses to connect on 3G (calls and SMS are fine)
I used nandroid to backup, cleared data and applied a different CM10.1 build - still same issue!
Did a little research and created new APN profile according to Optus... still not working
I did some reading and successfully updated RIL to the latest available according to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1129014&page=1
Still no joy...
Any other advice for me?
PS My hardware button setting for the search button locks/unlocks the screen, is there anyway to change that to recent app drawer?(System Menu > System > Hardware Keys does nothing )
Thanks for the help

Are you sure that the IncS model you purchased has the 3G frequencies you need for Optus?
You should find out the modelid of your IncS and then check to make sure that model has the required frequencies.

Have a look on the box if it supports 3G 900 and 2100MHz cause Optus sell the Incredible S so with the right freqs it will work
Or try another ROM, I have never tried lacoste

You aren't missing out on much. To be honest, i don't know why so many people chose Lacoste over cyanvivo..
When I installed Lacoste:
- Apollo stopped working and I had to use bloody Google play music
- The person on the other end of a call couldn't hear my voice
- When listening to music, the left headphone of my solos were not working, but it worked as soon as I switched roms.
-DSP manager was not working properly.
Why?
Click thanks if I helped you out!
Thanks poondog and tpbklake - fairly certain the frequencies are there, according to IncS Europe/Asia models both support 900/2100
LamboBull - I just stumbled across lacoste first - will try cyanvivo tonight...

OK, flashed cyanvivo after data wipe and 3g worked initially then stopped - is it advisable to call service provider in case they can help?
Also, changing the function of search key still doesn't work - is it meant to?

Service provider cannot help because
1. CyanVIVO is not official on or phone, so they cannot help you unless you are on stock rom
2. They could refuse to help you if you are rooted.
Just screw around on APNs, you should be able to fix it.

Confirmed all working! Thanks LamboBull
Can you help with the search button functionality? I'd prefer it showed recent apps drawer - right now it won't change from search function, even though it's changed in system settings

I think your best bet is to switch to sense based roms

Are you s-off?
No: have you flashed boot.img manually in fastboot mode?
Yes: try a different radio.
A bit more info would have helped. Why is telus as a carrier worth specifically mentioning?
Radio should not be the problem if sense 3.0 works, the culprit must be the ROM.
Try another ROM, may be the APN comes with the ROM was wrong, try manually create a new APN for telus.

A MIUI ROM has been released in rootzwiki !!!!!
Issues:
1.Cant switch to lte band.
2.Mediascanner fails to start at first rom flash, to fix this go into your gallery app and hit "browse sdcard" and navigate to your pictures so the mediascanner service can start, after that return to your gallery/music app(menu refresh) now your photos and music should show up.
3.Signal bars are inacurrate.
ROOT
Features:
1.Faux 006 kernel with sweep2unlock.
2.Nova launcher as an optional launcher.
3.Aosp ics keyboard
4.Deleted a few stuff to slim down the rom like htc ebooks and useless apps etc.
5. Root is disabled by default THIS IS HOW MIUI DOES IT, FOR YOUR OWN SECURITY!, you need to re-enabled it by opening any root requiring app.
tethering work around
Ok wifi tether works just installed wifi tether from the google playstore and changed this settings and it will work:
Start Application
Go to Settings
Select Device Type -> Galaxy Nexus CDMA/LTE
Select Change Setup-Method -> netd (master)
Select Enable WiFi-Encryption -> Your Choice
Select Routing Fix
Start Tether and allow Root

i already posted this in the afternoon when I got it from Rafy. I think it was taken down already cuz I dont see it anywhere.
Excited but I'd rather wait until the bugs are sorted, I take it this is SENSE based not AOSP based, like the HTC Sensation/Pyramid MIUI Port?
Excellent news though, I've been missing MIUI, and I don't really use LTE anyway so that's not a real problem for me.

Root is managed via "Permissions" app - allows root to be turned on and off, and individual permissions of apps to be blocked/allowed. You'll still need "Hide my Root" from the market or similar if you want to truely hide root from apps that check for rooted roms.

Reboot your phone. Open up an app that requires root (like titanium backup) and it should ask you if you want to allow root. MIUI "turns off" root by default. This is all outlined in the OP of MIUI over on rootzwiki.

According to RULE (11,3), you can't even post a Rootz link in your signature. Great stuff.
after using this rom or a few days, which required not only signing up to rootzwiki forum but also another forum before I got to the download file, I find this ROM very stable and very quick, and it has excellent battery life (probably due to not having LTE for the most part) but yeah this is now my daily driver, I only wish it was on XDA, I might build on this myself at XDA...

Hi all ViperVivo user's, if you are using this Rom you know how fantastic it is, the dev's have really outdone themselves. One issue was hotspot wouldn't work, but many roms have this issue when they first come out. After trying all the suggested fixes it still wasnt working for me, but I finally got it to work. This is what I did.
Format all partitions except sd card.
Install ViperVivo Rom.
Used the clean install option in setup.
After complete install wipe cache and delvik codes.
Install redux .3.
Then install redux .7 for 4.1 sense.
Yes all steps so far was suggested in the ViperVivo thread, however it still would not work for me.
So I then went to market installed wireless tether for root users.
Then I changed the settings inside the app to suit my device.
First I changed my device profile to generic ics/jb (wlan0).
Then changed setup method to netd-ndc (master)
Then choose your channel and security and ssid.
And it worked for me.
Hope this helps some of you.

Hi guys, finally decided to put down my sensation and move onto the Galaxy S III. I'll miss it =[
So I've bought a UK Galaxy S III I9305 from T-Mobile.
I've managed to root and that and it everything was working fine so I thought I'd flash some ROMs and see what one I like. I flashed two of them (Pandoriam and rXTREME). They worked fine except mobile data would not work on either of them. I followed some instructions in the thread which said to turn on GSM only, restart then switch back to WCDMA. But it still wouldn't work. I flashed different radios as well (or modems as they're called for samsungs) and that didn't help either.
I've just flashed a stock 3.1.2 EE firmware and the device is back to complete functionality and the 3G came on immediately. I also noticed when I booted the phone the first thing that popped up was a box asking if I wanted to enable data connections; this never happened on the custom ROMs. I figured it must be me or my device since it didn't work on both ROMs, hence my posting here instead of their threads. Am I doing something wrong here?
Any help appreciated. Cheers.

Ta much mate
App now available with the same functionality a zips below!
More info about app here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2607221
Changelog:
12/7/2013: Updated zip for 4.4.1 Using cg87 98-33 and 98-27 hybrid modems . Updated script to try to prevent duplicate build.prop entries.
8/9/2013: Updated zip to remove the installation of the older outdated snd_soc_msm_2x_Fusion3 audio file. This is not needed with the hybrid modem.
7/26/2013:
Updated to morrislee awesome hybrid radios. Works on 4.3 and 4.2! LTE awesomeness, and still has all the newer features (power management, audio on T-Mobile, etc.) from the newer radios.
What is it?:
I have created a AIO ZIP that can be flashed on your phones recovery and will enable lte.
It flashes the awesome.33/84 hybrid (or .27/84 depending on zip) radio/modem by morrislee, fixes audio by overwriting the necessary file, and automatically updates your build.prop with the needed changes.
ALSO this zip will put 2 CM Backup scripts in /system/addon.d , now if your phone supports CM Update scripts (CM of course,Carbon as well, and im sure alot more ROMS) you will only have to flash this ZIP once, it will automatically backup/restore the needed files and make the changes to enable LTE on each ROM Update, just like it currently does for GAPPS.
.27/98 radio and .33/98 hybrid modem bundles available for download above. Recommended for KitKat users.
.27/84 and .33/84 hybrid modems are recommended for jellybean users . Also available at above link
Manually: (Depending on ROM)
You might have to manually enable LTE either in Settings-->Wireless &Networks More.. --> Mobile networks --> Change network mode to "LTE /GSM/WCDMA" (CM10 automatically did this for me)
If that's not an option and LTE isn't enabled, dial *#*#4636#*#* and Tap WCDMA from under "Set preferred network type". Select "LTE/GSM auto".
Depending on ROM you will either have to select or input LTE APN under Settings--> Wireless &Networks More.. --> Access Point --> (TMobile LTE APN is fast.t-mobile.com , most roms have this included)
FAQ:
Q. What modem should I use .27/84 hybrid or .33/84 hybrid
A. Try them both, see which one you like better. Test speed, battery life and reception with both. Results are different for everyone.
Q. Does this work with AT&T, Vodafone, Rogers etc
A. Flashing this ZIP will enable Band 4 LTE on your nexus 4, T-Mobile uses this in the USA. Check for Band 4 carriers here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
Credits to: (make sure to send thanks to all involved!)
XDA user cg87 for 98-33 and 98-27 hybrid modems
XDA user morrislee for putting together the awesome .27 and .33 hybrid .84 modems!

Yes it will work on stock 4.2.2, however you will need to unlock bootloader, and flash a custom recovery , which is needed to flash this.

Oh , my bad small error in update script. Going to upload fixed version now. The ZIP does work, and enable LTE fine , but CM Update scripts to keep it alive when you update ROM aren't coping over correctly.
EDIT: Links updated with new version
You should make a quick revert script to place everything the way it was before flashing this script.

Thanks for this, any chance you'd feel like adding in the gps or tether fix? Are those even still an issue anymore? I've been out of the LTE game for so long lol. But its active in my area (has been for a month, apparently)

Glad to help my fellow N4 users.
I don't think so lol. GPS and tethering works fine for me.
LTE just recently lit up in my area

To my knowledge there's still no fix for the network location/aGPS issue. I'm on T-mobile and found that it didn't need to do any mods to get tethering working on LTE.

Very nice, thank you both for the prompt responses! I've been using a script for the past couple days rvrrytime I flash a rom, but i gotta restore the script manager app every time. Cuts out a couple steps for me. The script does some extra build prop edits but i think it's just the various network optimizations that have been passed around.
Thanks again, gonna have to flash something for the sake of it!

So..will it stick after reboot on stock ROM or do I need to manually enable it thru *#*#4636#*#*?
Just a quicky,
Does it work on AT&T 4G if I flash this package?

I think it depends on the ROM (not sure on stock) I still have to manually enable it on boot.
