Hi everyone, I was wondering if there was anyway to increase touchscreen sensitivity on the HTC One. I just recently installed a MIME tempered glass screen cover and I've noticed it is a little less sensitive now. For example, pulling down the notification bar or scrolling in general is slightly less responsive. Thanks!
I just realized this should probably go in the Q/A Troubleshooting section. Can a mod move this for me?

Same here. I also tried a different brand (Xtreme Guard) and felt the same. Ironically, the same screen protector was installed on my wife's Galaxy S4 with almost no difference in screen sensitivity. I would be interested to know too how to increase the screen response/senstivity. Thanks.

From my Nexus 7 RMA units, I still found these issues, so with the help of the XDA community I took matters into my own hands.
Screen Lift & LCD Ripples
1. Power off your Nexus 7
2. Open the back cover (I used a credit card)
3. Since the screen lift issue is on the left hand side, remove all the screws (5 silver 1 black on the bottom left if you can [I couldn't]) on the left hand side
4. Using a blow dryer, warm up the entire left back hand side while gently applying pressure for about 2-3 minutes.
5. Flip your Nexus 7 so it is facing you (camera side up) and once again apply pressure from the top to bottom.
6. Re-screw
7. Put back cover on
***NOTE*** By fixing the screen separation it appears you also prevent LCD screen rippling on the left hand side, as well as screen creaking Coolio! :high five:

Washed out Screen after Watching Full Screen Videos [NEED ROOT]
1. Download Script Manager from the Play Store
2. Download https://www.dropbox.com/s/xd6ucv4spwn5u1n/SmartDimmer-OFF.sh and save to SD card
3. Allow Script Manager SU privileges
4. Go to where you saved the ".sh" script and highlight "Su" and "Boot" then click "Save" and "Exit"
5. Restart your device
***NOTE*** Upon boot up you should see that "Smanager ads have been granted SU privileges...." That's how you know your script has been applied on boot up.

re - the screen lift fix above:
this makes no difference to my screen lift or creaky screen. Neither did it on the unit that I RMA'd last week. Nor changing screw tension and/ or clamping.
the only thing that did make a difference was the washer/ shim method, but that only stopped the creaking, not the lift.
Just a note for the screen wash out, if you apply this fix you will notice decreased battery life while watching videos. Just figured I mention.

that's what I heard as well, but I still get around 6 hours screen time like before. also the pros far out weight the cons imo.

I guess the only reasonable assumption is that screen lifting is a it different for everyone. when I opened it up all my screws were tight, buy after applying this fix I no longer have screen lifting or creaking or LCD ripples.
Do google even know about the screen washed out problem why don't they release a ota fix?

well apparently it has to do with nvidia drivers so calling Google and harassing them about nvidia is the best you could probably do. without doubt Google and nvidia will do something, but not for a while in my opinion. so when someone asks you why you would root a stock jelly bean device, well this is why. I love the fixes found on xda!

How long ago did you apply the screen lift fix? I tried the other fix and it only lasted for a few hours before lifting again.

yes but you will lose root. use voodoo ota root keeper. or install new update manually.

You'll have no use for the OTA update, as you'll most likely be able to download and manually install updates first.
Wow, thanks for the script! It did wonders on the colors & brightness just in general (without playing a video or anything).
I wonder why Google doesn't push this out asap? Seems like such an easy fix.

Thanks for this script. I applied it and noticed a difference, but in comparing the image to my G-Note screen, there is still a major difference between the 2 mainly in the brillance of colors.
Can anyone else verify that is the case or not?
If so, will another image processing tweak like the Bravia help or is the Samsung a better panel?

I'm pretty sure its due to the super amoled display. The colors are saturated so they will look way brighter. I use a one x and the colors are brighter there to but I have yet to root and try this script. Looking forward to trying it out. Still love the display though.

Do you think Google will fix the washed out colors via ota ? I keep hearing from people that there coming out with new screens but you would think it could be fixed through software .

Currently running 2.0.4 rooted (and loving it). I've come to notice that the touchscreen is rather finicky. If you press down too hard it activates touch and when scrolling through things in Rom ToolBox it will sometimes activate or select things that I didn't want to. I'm sure this is a hardware thing not a software thing. I think it's because the touch screen is so close to the surface, also using styluses has proven useless too since the screen is oddly grippy. So I was wondering if you guys out there have come up with a nice work around or if you know that maybe 2.0.5 would fix this issue. I just couldn't find root methods for it that worked so hence why I chose to stick with 2.0.4.
Thanks in advance.

Why is it that finger prints cause a problem with a capacitive screen?

Fingerprints don't have capacitance? I'm not really sure why it makes a difference, but it does.

the only conclusion I can draw is thanks to its new lamination technique. This forces the digitizer closer to the surface and that much more finicky. The added benefit is that I've notice that the amount of surface area needed to register a touch is rather small, about 2.5 mm^2, I've tested with some objects around my house. So if there was a way to adjust the screen sensitivity that would be great, also the screen is too grippy so it causes my finger to stutter, the matte screen helps with the finger and retarding the sensitivity but its still a little too sensitive.
hello, a few days ago my xperia sp was depressed and tried to kill herself by throwing from a height of 90cm. The result was a broken touch screen, which cost me about $ 90. Since it is not difficult I myself installed the touch screen.
However, after installing the screen, I noticed that the sensitivity is horrible, the touchscreen was a little difficult to operate, but not impossible. I even can use day to day, but it is remarkable the difference in sensitivity between the new touch screen and touch screen broken.
What can I do to improve or increase the sensitivity of the screen? Thank you.
Try calibration touchscreen via some app.
you could turn on glove mode. that would increase the sensitivity.
Was it an OEM digitaliser? You could try cleaning the contacts. Someone else on here has just experienced the same thing he reported a big difference between the two screens and also a discrepancy between the serial numbers on the digitaliser.

Hi guys I am new to the forum, I apologize from the beginning for any grammar mistake I will make.
However I opened this tread to talk about a weird issue I have had with my xperia z1 with aosp roms and cm roms, my touchscreen lacks of responsiveness, I mean ,that's something never happens to me with stock firmware, but with aosp it seems the touch frame rate is quite low , not the display but the touch infact it doesn't happen when I scroll and I move the finger up from the touch but just when I keep touching it for the whole the page for exmpl. , don't know if it happens to you too I didn't find any tread treating this
Up
I also have this issue. Doesn't matter what rom, it just happens on all aosp roms. Stock rom works flawless in touch department, but AOSP is cutting out touches, not registering them at all, sometimes for quite long. I have no idea what causes that and it seems that this issue isn't really popular, which is awkward.
Possible fix.
Tl;dr- Try removing the ASF or installing a tempered glass screen protector. Should fix it.
Okay guys, I may have a possible fix. I used to have really bad screen freezes on AOSP LP 5.0 and 5.1. I didn't have these issues on stock 242 or 270. Curious eh? Well, like I said, I USED to have these problems. I've been on PAC 5.1 for about a week now, and haven;t had a single freeze. Also note I used to have issues with ghost touches in stock 242 and 270 while typing, having serious issues occasionally.
What I did initially was just use a tempered glass screen protector. This was a few months ago, and I was on AOSP LP and didn't experience any freezes. Unfortunately, however, the protector shattered withing a week, and immediately after removing the shattered protector, I had freezes again. this was my first clue.
Fast Forward a month or two, and I still have ghost touches on stock and have stayed away from the AOSP LP scene cause of freezes. I buy a tempered glass screen protector again. and decide to test my theory out. I remove the ASF and install the glass screen protector. Flash PAC. and bam. No screen freezes until now. I think it has something to do with the touch drivers having problems registering touches in AOSP. It could be that I updated to stock LP and that fixed it, but I'm confident that alone isn't the solution. So, two tips:
1) Remove ASF and test.
2) Install Tempered glass screen protector and test.
I used a cheap protector which cost me around Rs.200 in India, which works out to be a little more than $3.00 US. So don't worry about how expensive the tempered glass screen protector is.
Do test and let me know. I wanted to start a new thread about this, but this seems like a better way to test it :3
Hi all,
I've been asked to move this to this section so hopefully find the correct answer.
I recently had my 9t pro screen replaced, after the replacement it now works fine & even the fingerprint scanner is working good, however the actual view size looks smaller. I can see this in that one of the apps is cutting off some of the icons down the left & right hand sides of the screen, not in a huge way but enough to miss off the notifiacation number on the top corner of the app.
My question is that even though it has been repaired by a 3rd party & not Xiaomi will this always be the case as somebody has said it may be that the protective screen black border may be too big & slightly bigger than the original factory fitted one.
I have 2 photos.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Kind regards.

Check this is developer settings especially the width, should be 393 or close to it. Play around if it's too higher/lower and see.

Hi, thanks for that but although it makes a slight difference to the icon size it just creates a bigger gap round the edge of the screen when I increase or decrease the number.
Thanks anyway.

Even though you can see a slight adjustment when I change the settings it doesn't improve anything, the screenshot with the missing numbers down the right hand side are exactly the same.
