I have searched on here (and searching on Google is a pain, if i wanted HTC One X results i would have typed the X into the search!!) and i cant seem to find anything....
On Samsung S3 and Note 2, to change the DPI, it was a simple case of using Rom Toolbox to change the build.prop file to a different DPI (240 was the way to go) and after a reboot, there it was. Opened challenges with certain Touchwiz items, but in general it worked great.
How do we do something similar on the One? I had a brief flirtation with Slim ROM (very brief as i couldn't get touchscreen to work), but it had a better DPI and looked slick. Sense 5 on the same DPi would be just perfect for me.
Thanks
Stokie
If you use Venom rom, it has built in setting in tweaks..

So this is essentially a combo between the stock ICS launcher + auto-rotate posted by bajansurfer and the 3 screen stock ICS launcher posted by matt_stang. what i'm posting is a 3 screen launcher which auto-rotates for landscape mode. I'm running oICSv26 and it works flawlessly (the app is actually sourced from koush's build). obviously i didn't create these mods, but only really combined them.
you should know what to do with this, not compatible with Gingerbread ROMs. rename to Launcher2.apk and push to system/app and set permissions or copy to system/app and set permissions to rw-r--r-- or:
Code:
x x -
x - -
x - -
in the root explorer permission grid.

updated with middle screen as default.

Nice. Does having 3 screens use less Random Access Memory?

no idea, guess in theory it would but I don't know if it does in the real world. I just only need 3 screens.

V2 is slightly different and now has a new looking menu system. if you dont like this use V1. i have also made a few changes to the resizing just to smarten things up a little more
See pics below and remember if you like please say thanks
Special thanks to

Im pretty sure its 160 the standard DPI
Is this specifically made for tablets? I used 160 dpi and its to large, I went down and used 120 which seems really close but still off.
There is another one for 190 dpi which fits, but has some transition lag.
This as far as I could tell was super smooth even though it did not work properly on my device, droid incredible. Regular dpi 240.

Sorry this is specifically rebuilt for the Xoom and would need to be modded for other devices

Awesome work BTW!
My HTC one is the first of the htc phones i have used to far ( and its not the last for sure ) ... When i got this phone it was on sense 5 version with 4.2.2 android. I have flashed almost all roms and quite happy with it. Until recently i came across a downgraded rom [ROM]HTC new one First sense4+ ROM with Android 4.1.1 by kuaidao ... Thanks for him i got the chance to feel the sense 4 version.... I must say it is an amazing feel of it... I love every single bit of it...It has skins of its own..... more lock screen options and more skins for lock screen... and more than anything... the screen lock is extremely smooth and very helpful,... and trust me its very very very very very smooth.... i just fell in love with... I just don't know why the htc have removed that lock screen and replaces with a naked and more simple lock screen in the sense 5 ..... ... for the first time i was even more happier to have downgraded my sense version from 5 to 4 and android 4.2.3 to 4.1.1 .... everything works perfectly... except few small issues like Chinese language and missing the beats audio...
Now for my request... Is it even possible to take the entire ring lock screen and even the skins and other options and get it on our sense 5 ???? I am sorry if i am sounding noobish... but i am really a noob on these issues...
You can just download morelocal2 and change to your language.. in addtion download keyboard and everything will be perfect..

Delete HTCLockScreen.apk from system apps. You'll have an AOSP lock screen like this.
Backup first though, on some custom roms it causes bootloops.

Yah, I realized that, I have no idea about the old sense ring lock so I figured I'd give you an alternative. Since the new lock screen is terrible, IMO. But I hope you get it figured out. Good luck. Haha

So far I've changed a handful of apps and all seems well.
I got a little ambitious though and was going to try and shrink the status bar a bit.
If I remember correctly (been using PA for a while), in the past all that required was changing the DPI for Android System and System UI.
However, doing this leaves me with a gap under the status bar and changing the DPI of Android System seems to affect all the apps...and royally screw up the Samsung keyboard. It works, but the graphics are massively stretched so you have to guess where the keys should be.
Changed these particular settings aren't a huge deal, was just curious if anyone else has had more success, or if I'm just doing something stupid

I'm wondering about the same thing. I have not touched anything with the status bar but would really like to shrink the ridiculously large font. I have changed DPI on a number of apps and no issues so far.
I've never messed with this but I'd love to get rid of the huge font everywhere. Haha

settings/device/font/font size
I changed mine to extra small
I also use apex launcher and changed all the icon sizes to 85% and increased all the rows/columns +1
this made it seem as if it is a better dpi but without hardcore modding of the individual dpi's

I'm just doing individual apps for now as well. 400 DPI seems to be the sweet spot for my eyes.
I changed my whole system to 320 dpi for play store compatability. Whatever dpi ya set make sure to set the tw apps to 480 so they arent screwed up. These include calculator, phone, contacts, camera, email, photo editor, tw home & tw easy home. Ive noticed the keyboard is finally multi dpi and its working just fine for me on 320 dpi. Oh by the way i used rom toolbox to switch my overall dpi & set my per app settings BEFORE changing dpi to prevent any fc's lemme know if ya need any help

Biggest thing is to make sure ya set the specific apps first haha. I set the whole thing once first and it was a big mess! With setting the apps I specified, the only weird thing i saw was if you go to task manager the top bar is off centered. You can still see everything but theres black space to the right. Other then that everything is just about perfect

Does running the dpi at 350 or 400 cause any issues with the play store? I don't have Xposed installed but I was thinking of using rom toolbox to set it at 350 or 400.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk 4
It may cause some apps not to show up in the app store because its an unrecognized dpi. Theres a module for xposed that restores app store compatability though I believe

Yeah the clock/weather screen that appears when the s-view cover in closed within the plastic window. Unfortunately I thought it might be tied to system UI which sucks.

Is your phone and contacts working properly? I did the Rom Toolbox as well and set it to 360. I used Xposed to set the DPI to 480 for Contacts and Phone. The initial dialer looks correct. However, after the call connects, the dialer is in the middle of the screen instead of being down the bottom like how it is before the call. Did you run into this issue?

Looks like mine is working now after switching launchers. So the culprit is in the settings of the old launcher and has nothing to do with build.prop DPI. This is good news :good:

While we're on the topic of modifying the look and feel of the phone, can anyone tell me where in settings I need to go to turn off the Weather/Calendar widget on the lock screen? I can't seem to find it anywhere in either settings or calendar app.

Everything on this phone looks too big! Which makes having such a high resolution plain stupid. Is there any ROM that supports custom DPI that doesn't break apps and stuff?
Thank you!
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
To answer my own question:
Custom ROM is needed that supports writing to /system. After that changing lcd density value in /system/build.prop will change dpi system wide! However HTC sense is NOT elastic so it won't fill out the extra screen space. Xposed framework and appsetting module is needed to put htc sense back to original 480 dpi.
Most (if not all) nonhtc apps are elastic so no problem there.
I use very high res for chrome for example (320). Screen on this phone is stunning so you can really be comfortable even at 320 dpi.
