Nightlies CM10.1 - Motorola Droid Bionic

Are the latest Nightlies supposed to be flashed over 10.1.0, the stable release?

What's the model name?

Last I knew they were stand alone. Nightlies just constantly add small updates to the ROM so youll still have to clear everything like normal and install the ROM.
For instance right here
I don't see the Bionic's model name which is the XT875. None of the XT model names are Bionic phones. Did I miss something?

I'm pretty sure it is XT875, most of the phone specs I've looked at list that as the Motorola model name.
When I was running Carbon, the nightlies could be flashed over the existing slot and the updates were applied, so I wasn't sure if the same applies here, especially since it is a "stable" release.
Thanks!

Well as most romming goes, you'll always have less issues if you always install fresh. When you run into problems that's going to be everyone's first step in having you do is make sure you're isntalling a ROM on a freshly wiped slot.
Sorry about the model question, browser apparently went full retard and posted it here and as a new thread lol.

You can flash nightlies over each other. It's called "dirty flashing".

[Q] CM9 official port?

So is the N1 going to get an offical CM9 port or is going to just be an unofficial one?
I've heard rumors saying it will eventually get official CM9. For now, though, use samuaz's CM9 build.
In high hopes that cm9 might be arriving anytime soon for our n1.
Fingers crossed

[XT860] - Updated Modified XT860 Patches

Thakns leobg for your post here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26043367&postcount=1575
I went ahead and created some updated XT860 patches, you can apply them from CWM.
I have tested the AOKP one, not the CM9 one, so please let me know if it is working.
These have been updated to match the nightly build.props from 05/14/2012.
Weird, Ijust use the ics xt860 patch on hashcodes site. Works great here even with the nightlies.

Yup, but that version is a few months old and a lot of the settings in the build.prop file are old, as well these patches setup for Canada.

There are a lot of differences, in the CM9 one there are a lot of CM9 specific features that AOKP doesn't need, and vice versa.
dani: Thanks for these. Which rom of the 2 did you choose? I installed AOKP 05-15 nightly and came across a weird APN issue. It's in the AOKP thread, post 494 ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26196280&postcount=494 )
Have you experienced the same issue? The simple solution for me was to modify the apns-conf.xml to only indicate the 1 good Rogers APN set, and re-install AOKP. I'm not sure if this happens for anyone else though... I was going to ask that you include the updated apns-conf.xml as part of the patch, but who knows... could have been a freak incident on just my phone.
Thanks again!

I just used the included APNs, and removed ALL of them except for the one you pointed out. Then I edited the authentication of that APN and set it to "none" (it is set by default to "not set") and everything worked.
I don't wipe whenever I change my ROM, that's too much work, esp when you're on nightlies.
Interesting... I may just do another install with your auth field trick and see if that works for me. Thanks man
I'm crazy about wiping when switching roms, but I haven't ever used nightlies before. I will try a non-wipe on my next nightly install for sure.
Thanks again

Setting auth to None got me working just fine... thanks! I am now on cm9 and it is working much better than aokp for me. Lots of free ram on cm9!
Is there a signal bar fix available? I seem to only get 2 signal bars max (even though I have great reception... so not a huge deal). I remember a build.prop tweak where you change verizonglobal to 0 but I see that it is already set.

Did you think that ever will be released?

Hi, Sure... But when???
Here in Sweden we just got 4.1.2. So i assume we have some monts of waiting..
Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie will be revealed for the new Google Phone during Google I/O in May 2013.
So hope to get the 4.2 in May.
Exact but it is not small differences between the 4.1.2 and the 4.2..So i prefer to update direct to 5.0
Hi,

As been mentioned cm10.1 almost up and running on lte ...ive tryed it myself not bad like been said few bugs but nothing that wont be fixed within couple of weeks at most with luck..Not reall any full time let alone part time developers really working on it...maybe now the thing actually runs pretty well they might get there butts in to gear and finish rom off..lol and we shall become bloody enlightened with there wisdom...

Now there is both CM10.1 in alpha and a RC of LiquidSmooth.
None of them is perfect yet, but with the speed of development the last couple of weeks I think its just a matter of days.
As mentioned in the previous posts, yea there are roms for 4.2.1/2 already! like CM10.1 and Liquidsmooth (4.2.2)
Personally I would say go for LiquidSmooth. For now, it has better support and lesser bugs
I've tried Android 4.2.1 with CM mod but it's a little bit disappointing. I can't see any real useful changes so far.

no, Samsung will not release Exynos sources, so it will never be final
I hate to say it but we are either gonna get more support in next months or less support.
With the s4 coming, I predict that most devs will move on and go to that

Anyone tried the CM10 M2 Experimental Build yet?

They posted the new M-series build yesterday. I tried to install it a couple of times, but the install failed using the latest TWRP. Maybe i'll try with ROM Manager and see what happens.
I installed it yesterday afternoon. Still testing it out, but it seems to be working so far.

I actually used the built in CM10 updater. My recovery is TWRP. I didn't even wipe the phone. I did install the new gapps file first as they got released almost simultaneously and then flashed the experimental file.

I think it might be the version of TWRP that I am using. I updated to the most recent 2.4.3 yesterday. I know that sometimes the older versions give less errors. Anyone who used TWRP care to tell me which version they are on?
I tried again using the CMupdater, but no good. Just gives me a bunch of errors.
Anyway. Maybe i'll flash CWM and see if it will work with that.

Well...in the official TWRP forum thread, they said for us T-Mo Note users to use the i717 AT&T, so that's what I installed. Maybe i'll try rolling back to an older version if that's possible.
Just Google "twrp sgh-t879" and the first result is the official page for this device
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2/113
The top of the page says 2.4, but the links are for 2.3. Anyway, that is where I installed from.
When you search on TWRP site just type it "Sgh T879" and it should pop up
I do have one more question if anyone is still around.
There are new nightlies on Cyanogen's site (since the M2 release). Do those nightlies consist of everything included in the 4.2.2 M2 release, or are they just a continuation of the 4.2.1 nightlies?

Yes. They consist of everything in M2 plus continued new fixes/features and breakage depending upon what the devs are up to.
Yeah, it looks like the version of TWRP that I was using was the culprit. I rolled back to the one in the above post. and was able to flash the newest nightly.
Thanks for the help guys.
Three issues that seem to be recurring in the nightlies is whenever I put handcent in landscape, I can see another display behind the intended display. The other issue is that Bluetooth sometimes wants to turn itself off. The third issue is that a car dock icon shows up when I dock my phone in the car but no actual car dock software launches.

I have experienced the bluetooth issue, but not the others.
I switched back to the stock ROM anyway because CM10 wouldn't let me make calls properly.
Do you have an i717 or a t879? I haven't had issues with calling even with the loss of wifi calling.

Should i stay stock ics or upgrade to cm10.1

As someone who has owned the Bionic since launch, and just jumped to CM 10.1 a few days ago, I'll chime in here. It's a much better phone since CM 10.1. That said, be prepared for issues initially. I had a lot of problems and was ready to give up - until I did a factory reset on the CM 10.1 ROM. If you decide to make the switch, you can root, install SafeStrap, and flash CM 10.1 and Gapps with confidence, as long as don't mind doing a factory reset and rebuilding everything. Since the phone is new to you, that shouldn't be much of a deterrent.
I personally would recommend making the plunge.

Yep, camera works fine. Check out the last page or two of the post related to the ROM you intend to flash to see what kind of issues people are working. From the Official CM 10.1 ROM:
WHAT'S NOT WORKING (NOTE: I expect to be able to fix all of these issues, it's just taking some time):
Gallery / Media FC see top of the post for FIX.
HDMI
Dock/Dock Settings
Some random reboots being looked at.

What did you mean when you said you had to reset on the CM ROM? Does the ROM still stay on the phone after the reset? Also, what did you have to do to rebuild everything?

After installing the CM 10.1 20130326 NIGHTLY for the first time on a newly rooted Bionic, the phone was extremely unstable. A factory reset made all that go away. I elected to download all my apps again for a fresh start. Right now, it's working well.
