Bootup message

Pardon me if this has already been discussed?
Is everyone getting a tampered message in the bootloader,
Also when booting up the phone, do you get this build is for HTc development purposes message before the phone boots up?

Can you take a pic of it ?

If it's anything like other htc phones, that message appears because the bootloader is unlocked.

I guess it's the equivalent of the little unlocked padlock icon on a Nexus...

Personally I only got tampered after rooting. Not before.
Unlocked bootloader fine.
Installed twrp fine
Flashed supersu..then tampered arrived

You'll have to flash an RUU to get back to factory image and remove the tampered text.

only way to get rid of it is with s-off

Boot loader, s off, someone tell me what the heck is going on here.

Okay, I have a couple of questions I'm hoping someone can answer.
1). What is the situation with the boot loader on the One? I know there is a developer edition, but are all of the other versions going to be locked down? Also, since there is a Dev version I assume the one won't be on their unlock website, right?
2) my second question is more about HTC in general, and s-off. I know it stands for security off, but what does it do exactly? I've heard its needed for flashing certain things like kernels, but I don't understand why that would he necessary if the boot loader is already unlocked.
Im on Verizon, hoping and praying that the One comes to us, if not I'm probably leaving them. Can't wait to get my hands on this great phone, and hopefully help HTC come out of the dumps

The One can be bootloader unlocked through htcdev. No problems there
Bootloader unlocked lets you flash custom firmware, but S-OFF gives you full control over what you want to do. This stands for NAND locked or NAND unlocked. What that does is give you access to normally restricted partitions on the phone, such as the boot and radio partitions. Even with bootloader unlocked, you need to flash the boot.img separately if you do not have S-OFF and radios cant be flashed
And doing the chirp chirp thing doesnt encourage people to answer. Just a tip.

Boot loader can be unlocked on all EU carriers by spending 5 mins on the htcdev site (its included under Other phones)
As for s off, not currently possible but also not needed. On tegra HTC phones you needed it to flash boot.img as part of flashing a new ROM but already bypassed for the One.

Technically its still needed, but theyve developed a workaround which is essentially fastbooting it from the phone.
Also correction, its not only on Tegra processors that this is an issue, its on all HTC devices because they all come NAND locked.

It's not needed but would be better if we can get s-off soon.

One of the things that can be done with s-off is flash a kernel image right from the phone without a PC

As said above me, flashing kernels during a rom flash (the rom zip will attempt to do it, but s-on prevents the boot.img from taking) without a computer or a workaround like SuperBoot, and you can also flash radios with s-off

CID can be changed to flash a different region ROM.

And also to reflash HBOOT so that it says LOCKED instead of RELOCKED for warranty purposes.

Remove "this build is for development purposes only screen"

Hi was wondering if it is possible to remove the red writing on the One on the bootscreen that says this build is for development purposes only?
As i am doing a part exchange with the Galaxy note 2

I don't have a dev model. Is that what comes from the factory, or did you flash a custom ROM?

Thanks. I'm on stock right now, but considering flashing later. I appreciate the information.

It happens when anything is tampered from stock, the only way to get rid of it is a Modded hboot which requires s-off

Regardless if you remov the sign, your boot loader will still signify that its been tampered with.

boot logo is different from the animated screen as you boot. you cannot change the boot logo without s-off. if you try flashing a new logo image, your device will not boot. i've already tried. had to reload rom.
s-off will be ready when it's ready.

Flash a stock kernel. By saying stock I mean the one HTC provides and compiles. After flashing it the message should be gone.
The sole reason why it's showing up is because kernel devs here repack the kernel with the parameter
console=ttyHSL0,115200,n8 androidboot.hardware=m7 user_debug=31

Which came from earlier builds which were not for retail devices.

I haven't installed a custom rom or kernel and get this message.

if you want to pay for s-off mobiletechvideos.com has achieved s-off on the htc one. i dont know if they added the service yet though

Use a modified hboot/firmware without this red warning.

The S-off tool will do it, though it carries more risk then your typical rom flashing...

You need to flash a modified hboot - which can be quite a risky thing to do if any mistakes are made. See here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2316726
(and by 'quite risky' I mean it could hard brick your device...)

Hey XDA.
So now i got the HTC One and i am really happy with it and i would like to use an Custom Rom like TripNDroid.
Here my Questions:
Can i get the HTC features on these Roms like HTC Camera(Zoe,Objective Removal)?
Can i restore my Phone if i brick it?
Sorry for my bad english.

No sense features on Aosp Roms, and for the most part yes, as long as the computer still sees the phone you should be able to recover a brick

No, you need the htc framework of had the htc camera and some features.
Maybe something will work if your rom like miui is based on the htc framework.

Mate there is a lot of brick state, because people will call any issue with this term.
If your phone can boot in bootloader, you can do all you want (with s-off), and the phone isn't bricked.
The phone will be bricked when this can't go in bootloader or power on.

Let's say I can't boot into the Bootloader anymore, is there any way to restore the device?

No.
Without a bootloader the phone can't boot.
You've to send to htc for restore it.
