Hey Guys,
I have flashed the latest BVKT6 firmware from france through odin ..
the Firmware has some UI changes in it ..with loads of carrier bloatware.
Ui changes include a data toggle in the notification pulldown and two launcher preincluded ..
It would really help if somebody could Root it ..
I have tried all the existing methods of rooting ..but none of them seem to work ! :silly:
your help would be appreciated ! :good:
It has better battery life than Xwktm (new kernel i presume )
i cannot post pics showing the minor Ui changes because the firmware didnt have root and i couldnt stay on it without Root ....so yeah Im back to XWKTM !
Info about the firmware :
Model: GT-S5830
Country: France (Orange)
Version: Android 2.3.6
Changelist: N/A
Build date: N/A
Product Code: FTM
PDA: S5830BVKT6

u can screenshoot with home+piwer
also the UI changes are because u have it branded with orange files
this is why the new launcher and stuff are included
also to root it u need to remove apks from system/apps
because system space is like 0.8 KB frwe
so u need to flash the remove zip from xwktm threads
Sent from my S500 using xda app-developers app

anyways Can you provide the "Remove.zip" ?
and yeah the Ui changes apart from the notification toggle are worthless and carrier branded stuff ....i just wanted to get rid of that stuff !

Exactly! that's because I was asking you about a concret app
You can change the app name as .../youtube.apk" e.g. even you can add a line to mount automaticaly /system
Code:
ui_print("EXAMPLE Delete thinkdroid.apk");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "mount", "/system");
delete("/system/app/thinkdroid.apk");
run_program("/sbin/busybox", "unmount", "/system");

Hi,
I have a Bell phone as well, its unlocked to Fido now.
But yes Azy did fix it for me.
But I think you need to do what I did 1st, Some mods on At&t do not work with Bell, Since Bell's SF has not been released, " well from my understanding ".
You need to do the following.
1 - Flash your phone to OLYEM_U4 1.4.2 Telstra.
2 - Root , use GingerBreak, " OneClick did not work for me "
3 -Deodex , http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1047277
4 - then apply the framework.jar with the right permissions. (rw-r-r).

and by the way: I am planning to include languages like Right to Left writing and Arabic language on my upcoming ROM

Adding a new language to a ROM is pretty difficult, but if the UAE ROM has Arabic ( it should ), then you should just be able to copy the strings of each app, which is fairly easy. Much easier than translating them string by string that it is

Yes.. if you haven't then please do it or if you prefer not to root to save your Warranty then its your choice.. but there is a lot you can do if you are rooted but it costs you to void your warranty
And yes, Rooting in Jellybean is a very simple process... and if you want to unroot then just simply backup your apps/data and do a Factory Reset to un-root your device

ROOT Succsed , where i can find "fonts folder, framework-res.apk and your SystemUI.apk"?
@iiD4x Use any app like Root Browser Lite (search in Google Play) then go to System folder... There you will see Fonts folder.... Tap and hold and you will get the options to copy it.. do it!
Then swipe right to select your destination..... Paste it there...
Then go to framework folder and scroll down till you get framework-res.apk - copy it... Paste it.... Go back and then go to app folder... Scroll down till you get SystemUI.apk - copy it too... Paste it..
Paste them to anywhere you like and send them to me by uploading to anywhere you like.... And yes please do it on a computer or WiFi as those files in total will weigh about 20 MB
Oh yes, please note that I can't do this now as I have exams after 4 days... I will do it and either send you the download links or directly implement it on my ROM and you will get them when you will use my ROM :angel:

Which rom are you using?
Not working
Thx for all the posts, they are appreciated. However, every step ive tried comes to failure. I have deleted the zip file and replaced it with the one from the link. I even formatted my ad card but no luck. I dont know whats happening. I can see the root.zip but there are other files as .root.zip.
I dont know what they are.
Btw, I dont have a rom, I thought roms are only accessible by rooted phones?
Kind Regards

Hey , I flashed Slim CM 10.1 by A_U http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956127 . It successfully booted and it's working properly . He told there that there won't be any root access and we have to manually give access to apps . So can anyone tell how to manually give root access , what code should be written in dsc.su_list or anything else . Please help me.

I tried musicnext rom . Flashed it , my phone started and within a few seconds it started rebooting and it went on like that only . I flashed it again and again but the same result . Most of the roms have the same result and so I choose that rom . There were other slim roms also in that thread but they too didn't work for me. Can you help me with this problem also , and see whether you know about simpleSU , Thanks.

It's simpleSU, in that we have to manually give root access . But i don't know how to give it manually . So I am asking for that .

I know that and so I am telling that there is no connection between full wipe and manually giving permission of root access.
If you know , please help me
what i understood is that you want to have root access .
try that file , copy to sd directory then flash it from the recovery .,
for root :
universal_gb_root_v25.zip
and unroot :
universal_gb_unroot_v9.zip
it should give you root access. if you were using Gingerbread . just try it .
so i can't post links it seems cuz i don't have 10 posts ,
just google the name of the file you'll find it .

100% I know, that you can use Odin to install gb. And I think, you could install upd1.zip with help of recovery.
But you have to read it firstly) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778145
if you can not find any upd.zip. Than I`ll post it later.
Press "THANKS" if I helped you)
