HTC TV (Stand alone) - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
Does anyone know if it is possible to make an app containing the IF codes used by HTC TV, the reason why I ask is in work they have all forms of connection blocked. They even have signal jammers so we can't use our mobile.
But I want to be able to use all the IF products with my phone, like the TV and beamer.
And because I can't get any network connection I can't download the IF codes.
Any idea's on how I can solve this problem.

NAT + Tllt + WifiRouter + XBox live question.......(HELP)

Here's my situation:
I've been using my Tilt as a Wifi router to play with my friends on Xbox live because my university's internet blocks Xbox live. I've been using the WMWifiRouter program and it works flawlessly. The 3G speeds could be better, but hey, I'm not complaining.
Well my problem is that whenever we try to join somebody else's party on Xbox live it won't allow us because it says our "NAT type is strict". What does this mean? Also, other players are unable to join our party.
But, whenever we do matchmaking it works fine. It's just that we can't play with our other friends outside of the dorms because we're not on the same internet connection. We can only play with the random people that we're assigned to play with via matchmaking.
I realize this is a vary narrow subject, but I'm hoping there's somebody out there who can help me.
How could I go about changing my NAT type? Is there a way to make it open?

When I got this error I had to upgrade the firmware on the router connected to my x360. but because you are using your phone as the router, you obviously cannot do that. The 360 has a limited amount of routers that it's compatible with, so I'd say your stuck with strict NAT until you leave you dorm room.
The NAT type will most likely be controlled by the software you are using to share the connection (unless your phone network uses NAT). Try a different piece of software (if there is one )
Do you know if WMWifiRouter can do port forwarding because that may help with the problem?
Not sure but sounds like you can't host cause you going through a proxy and unlike cable or dsl and so on you not getting a real internet IP address for others to join you. Just a thought.....
Stop playing COD4 and you will be fine. . i opened up the DMZ on my router and it fixed my problem.
Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. But I feel obligated to comment on how amazingly awesome that is.
You have to open ports on the router (or in this case your phone). To do this you will need to know the assigned IP of the Xbox, and use the port forwarding feature on WiFiRouter.
Here is a tutorial on setting up the xbox and ports:

hey i tried something similar to this but i never got it working. i shared my interent concetion to my laptop and then set up network sharing from there to my xbox but it failed at dns on the test.
can any one think of a way to do this with out the wifi adapter for the 360?

Wifi tethering without internet

Hello.
I'm trying to connect two wireless devices (HTC hero with a WM device or PSP for example) and I want to do that without an AP.
As far as I know that's possible with AD-HOC network, but wireless tether on android seems to only share internet and not just create a wireless network and since I don't have data-plan it doesn't let me tether.
I'm basically trying to create a walkie-talkie or a messenger app
So... is it possible to create and AD-HOC connection on my phone (not for the internet)?
Thanks in advance.
couldn't you just call (walkie talkie) or sms (messenger) the other wireless device?
Sorry but that was a really dumb reply.
The purpose is to make free calls and send free messages if you haven't figured that out already and even though I'm not going to be actually using this, it's interesting to try and I could also finally put some use to my PSP.
Also it has to be *specifically* wifi.
As far as I know the Nintendo-DS supports something like this. Is that true?
I thought of this aswell.
Could be very usefull!

AdHoc Network Creation

Folks at XDA, for so long now I have been in awe of your expertise and today I must pick your brains....
I have HTC Portal on my Hero, and as I am getting a little sick of the tiny keyboard for texting etc, was wondering if it were possible to:
Create an Ad-Hoc network on the phone, connect my iPad to it, and use HTC Portal to send messages etc without removing the phone from my bag.
I have wireless tether for when i want to share my Data connection with the Pad, but what about the other way around?
When it was connected like this, i wouldnt be interested in any internet transfer, just a link....
any ideas? ive had a google about but with no joy
not sure if this would work but try this
thats the software that ive got, but i want to create an adhoc network so i can tether the phone to the ipad and control it without a router..... it seems there isnt a way to create an ad-hoc network with the phone

Please help with VPN

Hello all. I have a samsung galaxy s gt-I900M phone and I am trying to make my paid VPN work on it. It's called VyprVPN and does work well on my pc and laptop but not on this phone. IT is a PPTP connection , and it will connect on the phone but as soon as I try to use the internet it just does nothing , I have been searching and reading all I can on this issue.
Does anyone know what I can do to make this vpn connection work ? If it matters i am on the bell network and have tried with 3G and with wifi and get the same thing. Thanks for any replies !!
Really ? Noone knows how to make a pptp vpn connection work on a galaxy s ?
That's not what u were asking. U were asking about making some obscure vpn work that no one has heard about. What do u expect. My pptp vpns with dd-wrt work fine.

obscure vpn ? Its just a regiular pptp vpn that works great on my laptop and desktop pc but refuses to work on the galaxy s. Like i said it connects but won't let me surf anything , for the first 2 seconds it starts to work and stops and won;t do anything again but stays connected. Its an issue with the android system not the vpn subscription , which is a popular one .
Did you do anything fancy to make yours work ?
FROM MY VPN PROVIDER ::
Thank you for contacting Technical Support!
We use public dns 4.2.2.2. So there should not be any issues with DNS. PPTP
is the only VPN connection we offer. Have you attempted contacting
Galaxys support to assure their phone does not have an over ride built in
or if one of your apps is causing interference? We have other users that
have gotten this to work as well as developers.
nope nothing special.. try turning off encryption..
from fbvpn.com :
android needs special settings, and its encryption has some bug.
we are going to setup a new server only for android phone
but it won't be very fast, not proper for watching video
and another thing, if you need to use PPTPVPN on android, your message is not encrypted.
The vpn's i have subscribed to all require encryption so when i turn it off , they wont even connect. Any suggestions for a vpn that will work without it?
all over wherever I search about vpn and galaxy s noone has any answers. its a dead end street , why cant we get someone working on this ? i would pay out of pocket to have the vpn working on my galaxy s
and i dont mean someone set one up in thier house with no encryption

[Q] Tethering help

Hi guys
I have a question.
I use my galaxy note to tether and connect to the internet with my laptop and my xbox360 at times, as the speeds and quality of service i get from my mobile provider are pretty darn good, its actually as fast as the standard 8mb home broadband that we get in this are at the moment.
I have tho discovered a problem with it, when using my note with the mobile hotspot active and connected via wifi to my xbox 360, the xbox shows the connection as being firewalled and restrictive, so it sometimes stops me getting the best out of it.
Do you guys know how to resolve this, theres no pc or router involved, just 360 and galaxy note, so im assuming the android system must have some kind of firewall system, or its because of the type of connection, and is there a way to maybe disble the firewall in the engineer settings or something.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Does xbox support WPA2 PSK? Did you try open network?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
Thats a thought, yer the xbox supports wpa2 because it connects and lets me play games online, watch movies on lovefilm use fb etc etc, so no problems at all with the connection but no ive not tried it with an open network, i will try and see if it makes a difference, usually i dont use open networks because i have people in my area that tend to use others open networks so i try to avoid the issue by having it secure but thanks for the reply, i shall give that a go and see if it makes a difference.
