Bloatware wasn’t invented with the Android phone, but Android phone manufacturers and cell phone carriers have really taken advantage of it. Bloatware is all of the extra software applications that come pre-installed on your Android–it can include any kind of application. Many Android phones come packed with useless software preinstalled by the device’s manufacturer and your cellular carrier. For example, Sprint even includes a NASCAR app with some of their phones. Most notable bloatware examples are games. The Sony Xperia Play came pre-installed with several games that could not be removed. The idea is that these pre-loaded apps and games add value to the device and attract you to make a purchase.Let’s take an example to illustrate just how problematic bloatware can be. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play is a fantastic gaming phone which comes with several games already installed, including FIFA, Star Battalion and The Sims 3. This was a major selling point at launch, and rightly so - being able to play awesome games straight out of the box is great. Games are just one example, though. Some apps are pre-installed by networks or phone makers. However, games have a limited lifespan before they become surplus to requirements, and although you can remove the game data partitioned on your SD card, you can’t physically remove the install files from the Xperia Play’s internal app storage area.That means those games are stuck on the device forever. They clog up your app drawer and occupy valuable app storage space which could be better used for other programs. Unlike games - which cease to operate as soon as you close them down - system apps will constantly eat up valuable RAM resource, even if you don’t use them. This can cause your phone to perform poorly, leading to lag and force-close problems.
Assume you have flashed a new rom. You now have to go through the pain of removing dozens of apps from system/app which you might not need. eg: some people hardly use google maps/swype/youtube/email/weather.apk or those several samsung apps/widgets found in stock rom. More reasons -
* Useless apps could Clutters your list of installed apps
* May even run automatically at startup
* Drain battery power in the background
* Disabled Bloatware Still Wastes Storage Space & comes back after reset.
* It slows down phone performance
* It could use ram, eat it.
* It takes up memory space that can be used for things you actually want

What is this I'm talking about Tool?
It's a zip file written scripts in it which removse bloatware apps from ROM via Recovery. The system partition contains important apps required for android. if you remove an app which is essential for android then your device might get stuck in bootloop. So know what you're doing before trying this.

Also I wonder how much space do we gain from removing all these.

of course! Just add the system/app/example.apk name that you want to delete or Remove system/app/example.apk line that you don't want to delete.

This is the matter of experiment I don't have Z/ZL but i'm sure this will work just fine. Maybe Someone can upload the screenshot before and after Removal.

No, I don't have all the apps name. So, this doesn't include 4.2.2 rom apps. May be someone could Provide a List of all SYSTEM apps name Exactly as it is. That will be very useful.

Fast dormancy apps?!
Japanese IME
The power saver it seems
TV out functionality
The setup wizard (which can crash your phone if you do a factory reset)
(all) Smallapps
Most of the Google apps
Some wallpapers and widgets
Video app
Most of them are unnecessary to delete.

I think this is a good start but we gotto check these and apply to newest firmware first.
We might come with a more reasonable and correct version.

there are some custom apps of provider : "turkcell" you can omit those. apart from that it is actually pretty clean rom.
the list is extracted from TR FTF file.

Xperia Z Android 4.2.2 Stock Rom .244 Firmware
changelog to v3 original RomBooster:
- removed deletion of system wallpapers
- removed deletion of Xperia Standard Theme, Clock Widget, Album, Album-PhotoEditor and some others

And thought I'd share it with you and anyone else. I'd say it's pretty aggressive as I wanted to remove all the bloat ware and everything else I don't personally use. I tested this on an existing image and then did a Factory Reset to make sure everything was working correctly. (You're more than welcome to create a new zip with this script if it's useful.)
What I did was start with your most aggressive script and compare the files to the \system\apps in the JB 4.3 image. If the files didn't exist anymore in the new image, I removed them from the script. If I found a new file in the image, I googled to determine if it was safe to remove. (I didn't delete some files as I wasn't sure. If anyone finds a file I could remove, I'd appreciate hearing about it.) I'm sure some people will want things I removed, but that's the great thing about your script, they can easily change it.

I tested this on an existing image and then did a Factory Reset to make sure everything was working correctly. (You're more than welcome to create a new zip with this script if it's useful.)
What I did was start with your most aggressive script and compare the files to the \system\apps in the JB 4.3 image. If the files didn't exist anymore in the new image, I removed them from the script. If I found a new file in the image, I googled to determine if it was safe to remove. (I didn't delete some files as I wasn't sure. If anyone finds a file I could remove, I'd appreciate hearing about it.) I'm sure some people will want things I removed, but that's the great thing about your script, they can easily change it.

Turns out Google Play wasn't working correctly, so I removed Phonesky.apk from the delete list. Phonesky is supposed to be an old version of Google Play and "safe to remove", but not from my experience.

i think an aroma installer would be nice! you can choose witch apps you want do deinstall...what do you think?

Sounds great! I was thinking the same thing, but I've never created an Aroma installer. I'd be happy to help you break out the apps into categories for the install options.

yes after using your list, the play store wasn't working anymore so i had to flash again the 4.3 rom

Yes in german Forum have a user with the N8010 the same problems.
at the moment i don´t have it with N8000.
Also the Mass Storage dont work anymore on JB with the USB Switcher App

Now its installed and booted on my fully wiped N8000. No problems and all seems to work so far. Only problem i can see is if i change CSC it will wipe my device clean, and thats not a problem, but then i will loose the extra multi apps. They are installed in data folder and not as system apps, am i right? Would maybe be nice with a flashable zip or some other solution to that problem. WIll be back after further testing. Setting up and restoring now will try all the features later, so far i only tested the extra multi apps and they are fully working, nice work dev. Also love the dark blue background for apps( initial setup, root explorer, titanium etc.)

No the Multiapps like boatbrowser, solid explorer ect. istall in system.
or do you mean thats multiapps taht you installes by self?
if yes,
yes the data/app folder delete by fullwipe!
all your own apps are stored in data/app!
you can save it with titanium backup

Based on "Stock 9.2.A.1.210 official deodex-root&cwm_v1●RELEASED●(11/04)" by steveboss and sk-cz Team. Thank you very much for letting me use your work!!!!
The idea is simple yet unique for xperia V: create a thin, fast, battery saving Stock Based ROM which the user can modify to his own taste. Almost a year ago REVELATION HD was a similar ROM but lacked further support due to the developer turning berserk. On a long biketrip I enjoyed the ease and quickness of a fully functional debloated ROM. Afterwards I spent weeks manually debloating JB 4.3 till i found out which apps you needed to keep for keeping a fully functional SMART phone...
This ROM is not pretty and shiny but thin and smooth. It does what it is supposed to do with minimal ressource consumption. You can mod it (e.g. with xposed or similar) or just enjoy the simplicity. You can install whatever app you maybe missing...
Features:
- Based on Stock 9.2.A.1.210 official deodex-root&cwm_v1●RELEASED●(11/04)
- rooted, included SuperSU
- included philz Touch recovery
- some tweaks to init_d
- spent countless days of trial and error removing bloatware and apps
- also removed about 20 mb of wallpapers - come on use some own nice pictures

- also included all apps needed for google integration, framework, playstore etc.

Installation
I take NO responsibility of whatsoever may happen to you or your phone! BE SURE TO MAKE AT LEAST 2 (TWO) NANDROID/CWM BACKUPS BEFORE FLASHING. (as one may fail without notice). Also use Titanium Backup if possible!!!
Important:
There are 2 versions of this ROM one is the flashable ZIP with the very basic version of the ROM. The other one is modified with preinstalled xposed framework, gravity box with tweaks for UI and settings (e.g. datameter in notification bar etc., advanced power menu etc.). Also has Gallery ICS (with Android Sphere CAM) and ES Fileexplorer preinstalled.
I believe backup version of this ROM is the one most people should use. If they want to do all the modding work themselves or those who dont want xposed framework installed they should use the flashable ZIP...
Installation of basic flashable ZIP unlocked bootloader:
- Download flashable zip
- reboot into CWM
- do a full wipe
- choose and install zip
- reboot, first reboot will take longer and phone will automatically restart once!

If you cant connect to the internet please google and add your carriers APN data in the "Access Point Names" option located in the "mobile networks" settings...
Installation of enhanced NANDROID Backup using CWM:
- Download and unpack (!!!) "BACKUP_XPERiA_V_LiTE_V1a_17042014_by_doenen.rar"
- Copy folder "BACKUP_XPERiA_V_LiTE_V1a_17042014_by_doenen" to /sdcard1/clockwordmod/backup/.
- reboot your phone to CWM, select back and restore, restore from sdcard1, choose "BACKUP_XPERiA_V_LiTE_V1a_17042014_by_doenen"
- wait for backup to finish, reboot.
- try to turn off cwm verification if you receive error.
If you cant connect to the internet please google and add your carriers APN data in the "Access Point Names" option located in the "mobile networks" settings...

Recommendations and ToDo:
I would like to recommend everyone to use the Backup version or install xposed framework for xperia and use gravity box to modify your UI and shutdown menu (e.g. screenshot, boot recovery etc.) and use bootmanager and maybe android tuner to tweak the system if you know what your doing. If you do not use Gravity Box you will lack a lot of useful features... In further releases i would like to integrate xposed framework in the ROM.

- as requested: changed notification bar height (can be changed manually in gravity box)
- SwiqiSettings.apk cannot be removed because that makes videos stutter (probably has something to do with bravia 2 engine)
Requested removal of sounds, ringtones etc. didn’t make any sense to me. As far as I am concerned this ROM is not about the smalled download size but about battery life, speed and RAM usage while keeping maximum functionality. There is no point in deleting these sounds. Although I never use them, maybe some people like them. Same with stamina mode btw, this is an essential and acutally really practical part of a sony smartphone.
I didn’t mod any home.apk for call recording or whatsoever. This maybe done in a later stage of the ROM but can also be done by the user since the ROM is rooted anyways. First I would like to have a fully working, stable release that is high priority... Then…maybe…we can start with the cookies!
If someone would like to... (thanks to carminedev) :
- bring back bravia engine 2 ** this is the link (just flash the zip file in recovery don't waste time to follow the guide steps ) : bravia engine 2 & music info
- install stock and updated Sony apps like album**, movies** and wolkman this is the link : Media + Camera addons
- install THE STOCK RADIO FM this is the link : FM Radio app working without headset
- use Sony trackID download it from GooglePlay....
** these aps use the sony bravia engine ... I suggest also to "install ICS Gallery {...tested or others}" to enable the wallpaper modify/setting directly from Sony Album Gallery app...

- Videoplayer (included e.g. in gallery ics)
- i recommend you also delete XPERIA keyboard and use e.g. SWiFT Key
This is the first release. Please help me make this work perfectly. Please report bugs.
Battery Time and Speed greatly depend on what Apps YOU use and install. Freezing them when not in use does not always work, Facebook (katana) e.g. eats your battery even when frozen! Use ROM Toolbox or Android Tuner (advanced) to modify your CPU settings. E.g. change govenor to ondemand and limit to 384Mhz when screen is turned off ---> Maximum battery. I am happy for any contributions and tips from your side!

I have added the list of removed files. The ROM is working fine however i encountered one problem when testing it out this morning.
(yesterday night was way tooooooooooo late)
The Home button just wont work! I have no clue what is the problem, but this is odd! Everything else works fine, back button and recent apps - no problem there.
I have taken down the download link and will put it back up once i fixed it! If you have any suggestions - feel free! :victory:

hey pal, did you remove the TimeScape. i absolutely hate that. in rooted 4.1.2, they can be easily disabled/removed. now in rooted 4.3, some of the plugin cannot be disabled/removed.

Hey! There is absolutely NO timescape or any other social media integration left! try it...

thank for your feedback as i am planing to do some further work on this ROM it is very important to receiver feedback.
one of the goals was actually to get as close to CM as possible concerning ROM-Size and Feel.
Please tell me why stamina wont work? i tried it before and thought it did. or is this you general opinion about sony stamina mode? however i agree that gravity box smart radio is very good.

About stamina mode-well, i think i dont know how to use it or its not working that way what i want. If im switching stamina mode on-data will remain connected. In screen off mode. So its pointless. But maybe i dont know how to use it right way.
For gallery i can recommend "quicpic" Its way better, and more cutomizable.
Got problems with titanium backup. Titanium didnt find my backup folder.(actualy it did find, but somewhy i cant restore my apps) Because you had there filter "gallery" Thats my fail, didnt see that. No bug after 3-4 hours use.
Awesome battery life!!!
So keep this ROM work in progress! For now its closest look to CM, with sony interface and i know people like it. :good::good:

Tested, xposed working without download.apk fine, also chrome download, instagram, facebook, firefox browser. They all can work without download.apk.

Yes. Its working fine. I removed download.apk and i can and i downloaded and installed instagram downloader module.

Hi everybody, I have a problem with installation. I opened rom zip file and the updater into correct place (should I erase the old updater file or??) and in cwm I got error in installation. But my system boot up, only it hasn't got root privilege and recovery....very strange

Maybe you should try this, open old updater script.
Ctrl+F and type 96superflush. Enter and delete it's line, save it. And re flash your ROM

actually, i found that Master rom v5 is better for battery, ram AND smoother gaming but still, this a great rom

Bugs
Flashed 1.0.5 but still have Clock FC. Also there is problem with RAM usage & multitasking. One application "pushes out" another due to small amount of free RAM.

I'm using this rom for two days, everything so far is working with no lags and bugs. The only thing is not ffunctional is mobile data, any ideas to fix it? I am using v1.05 with stock kernel.

Settings- wireless and network more.. - and tap Internet settings to download them..

just curious,did you get @jajb permission to post this? I am assuming this is his script with a few added lines.If it isnt my apologies but it sure looks like his.

post a list what this zip removes, not everyone are registered at miui forums to see full thread content on those forums

Script does not work flashing with latest twrp, installation failed is the error I get

Fixed the zip, it flashes and puts the file in the right location. It b appears not to do much for the cm rom I am using. Nonetheless I am uploading the zip.

Will this work with CM13 too?

would not harm 550 i guess, as long as it was used on zen ui, the script will only remove detected applications..if it does not found the apps name, i think it would ignore it..

I have an error when tried to flash in recovery essential and normal (no tried others):
Footer is wrong
signature verification failed
How to remove that without usinf modifie d recovery ?

The only tool that I have posted is just to remove the data if they updated before moving over to the ROM.
Now people can keep a "stock" ROM and still get the benefit of all the junk removed for them.

unfortunately after removing system apps you can't apply ota, because ota updater script check apps then update some of them or copy new apps or files
