install a custom kernel, uninstall useless apps (or freeze them), with Titanium Backup.

The guide is in cocore's thread and here. Please do search and read in the future.

I stayed with JB six months thinking it is better than Gingerbread even if it has lags like these. Then,I went to a friend, who has a crappy galaxy mini turbo.I was really shocked that it had less lag and opened apps like camera faster. It has Gingerbread.
Today,I'm waiting to charge my phone, then I'll downgrade to Gingerbread.I may never come back until Cyanogenmod will be (almost) stable.
Good-bye JB!

^ Nah. Stock JB will all bloatware removed(fb,G+, samsung app store etc.) with Cocore 6.8 CWM is pretty smooth for me.

ok flasged with cocore 6.2 with cwm everything is fine bt dialer still takes 2-3secs to open...

Stock JB, yes. CM10.1, not at all, never had a snappier, smoother phone than that. Once video recording/OMX gets fixed, that's the endgame for our phone!
In the meantime, try polish XXLQE (the odin package weights only 437MB, it's the smallest I've come across so far... I suppose that means it has the least bloatware) + cocore 6.8 + the latest crossbreeder, all on a clean base (all the wipes from the advanced menu in cwm, except the sd-card, of course)
Don't forget to debloat, there's a lot of samsung crap that isn't needed... there's also a lot more stuff that isn't needed if you don't use it (G+ app, google's music app, etc, from this point onwards it's a matter of one's preferences). Greenify all those pesky apps that don't behave themselves and eat a lot of battery (facebook messenger, I'm looking at you, among others)
Give that combo a try and see if it's still laggy. For me, it's rare for my phone to lag/stutter in a way that's irritating... Yes, it's a lot of work but samsung's crappy JB can be made to work and go along... Once it's all done, you CWM backup it and you can forget it.

It functions well but you just can't play hd videos or games. That's all. And camera works only video doesn't. That's pretty good for me. It's just a phone and I don't really play games and watch movies on phone. better do that kind of things on pc

Hey!, you're wrong. I was unsure if flash JB or not, because of people like you saying JB it's laggy.
I flashed LQG (Italy) + deodex + zipalign. It was pretty smooth, but lags a little when playing games. So I flashed CoCore 6.8 and now it works like a charm, no lag at all. So please say it's laggy for YOU, not for all of us.

2.Root your phone.
3. Install any custom kernel (CoCore, isiri, Thunderzap...)

Try using Setcpu, set screen on time 800mhz-1400mhz :good::good:
Not much you can do about it. This is what samsung gave us with all the delays. The best advice I can give is either go back to ICS or flash something like rocket and speed mod kernel. It will be a bit faster then stock with some more features.
I did the normal steps ... rom , kernal , then the latest software ... it is good but the problem is the lag ! :/ is there a better software or sth cause when I open the ram I find it about 70% is used although not much apps are opened

I'm using the speedmod kernel k5-3, the latest from hardcore, noticed my note temperature are not so warmer while in the initial stage after flashing from ICS4.0.2 to JB 4.1.2.
Maybe you can try to flash into speedmod k5-3 to do a comparison...

Even I am using stock jelly bean 4.1.2 but there is no such problem. I suggest you flash the stock GB ROM and do the update OTA. This may take
a long time and data download but you will get all the bug and performance fix. Use stock kernel.
I suggest that you lt th Rom settle a little bit over 3-4 charging cycles. JB sure is not all that buttery smooth as we all expected but it's definitely not that laggy even.
If you installed a custom Rom please ensure that you wiped all the four- system, data, cache and preload. In case you missed any of the wipes, I would suggest you redo the installation as per the exact guidelines by the developer.
In any case the performance definitely improves after a few charging cycles.

Maybe it is best if you flash a safe kernel, do a full wipe and format system, data, cache and preload and then reflash the firmware with ODIN PC.
That is how I usually do the flashing and I don't have such an issue.
wait for PAK rom release. PAK roms are the best ever with no lag issues and almost every fix.
i got the ics late on my note but unlike he german or any other rom its bug free and lag free.
i get the highest benchmarks on my stock rom. So my advice to you is to wait till PAK update, then u can flash it.

I highly recommend you to do a factory reset. Your Note will be much better for sure. My phone was like frozen after the JB update, but it's likely been a different phone when I made the FR. No more laggy at all. The battery is still a big deal though. Remember to back up your data ( I used Titanium) ).
Try installing a suitable kernel. I also had lagging here and there but rom is working smoothly with speedmod n7000 jelly bean kernel.

I also have the lag problem with JB on the first Note.
It is not isolated.
I have the lag. My wife has it. I know several people who have it.
I have never rooted my phone. My wife could not do it if you put a gun to her head.
We upgraded to JB months ago. We upgraded over Kies on the PC.
We have used and upgraded the phone EXACTLY as At&t and Samsung demanded.
The lag has never gotten better.
I have done a Factory Data reset after upgrading to JB to see if that would help...nope.
I do use a Class 10 Sandisk card. My wife does not have a card.
To give you an idea of the lag...
Getting a call.....I might be able to slide and accept the call before it stops ringing and goes to voicemail.
Open a picture...I will have to wait at least 10-15 seconds..if I am lucky.
Sometimes a web page is quick..other times it takes so long that I lose interest.
I have seen the phone just basically laugh at the idea that I expect to use GPS and just lock up.
Add music to the phone...if I do it tonight, I will see it available by morning.
There is no single app that seems to be the trouble and there does not appear to be a heavy load.
At this point I have lost all faith in Samsung, At&t and this piece of ca$p phone.
I have never downloaded anything that was not on Google Play. Neither has my wife.
Say what you will about the apple boys,...their upgrades actually make for a better experience..not this.

In the "about phone" part of settings, it says I have the SGH-I717
I actually thought about going the CM route. The only thing is that I used CM on my son's Tf101 Asus tablet when I upgraded it to JB.
It seems a little stripped down and some features were missing.
My wife Note also has laggy issues ever since the phine was upgraded to JB thru Kies. Now she's bugging me to get her the Note 3. Arrgghh!!!
Is there anyway I can resolve this or else I'm downgrading the phone to ICS, as a last resort.
Pls advice.

Backup everything (messages, call logs, apps, videos, downloads - everything). Once that is done then boot to a custom recovery and format everything you can see:
/system
/data
/emmc
/sdcard
/.android_secure
and any others that you see
After that then clear the cache and dalvik cache, once that is done, connect your phone to your computer to copy a custom ROM. Flash it, let it boot, restart and flash coh kernel.
That is for TW if you want a really clean start, try to keep as little files as possible. Use greenify, freeze/uninstall apps that you don't use.
Alternatively you can go the CM way. Same instructions just flash instead of a TW ROM then flash a CM ROM and Raw Kernel r3.

[Q] Fastest Rom for SGS

Hello.
I've got lots of problems with my Cyanogenmod, and I feel like I need to change it to some other ROM. CM10 is working very slow, even with no apps on it, and CM9 just stops working well after some time (low memory notification shows up = in a few days it just kills every app all the time, doesn't start after reboot).
And there's my question - what is the best ROM for Samsung Galaxy S i9000 for me? I don't need newest features, I require smooth working and stable system.
Thanks for the help

About launcher you can install the launcher you want. Also if you want the stock theme just delete the morph folder from rom zip before flashing
Just be sure that you read the flashing instruction to have rom without prob.

I'm having the same issue with the Polish firmware. Jelly Bean was advertised as being faster and smoother but after updating from 2.3.6 to 4.1.2 via Kies my phone became really laggy (menu animations are choppy as hell, some apps like the phone one take up to 3 seconds to start up) and occasionally there are some really annoying lock-ups where the phone becomes completely unresponsive for 1-2 min. I tried doing a factory reset but that didn't do much. Overall I'm really disappointed with the official 4.1.2 update. Will rooting my phone and installing a custom core like CoCore help in a noticeable way?

Hi all I upgraded my phone to Jellybean. I cleared all the data and cache after updating via Recovery. But the phone is laggy as hell. It just freezes if you open more than application. Screen becomes unresponsive. The apps that I have moved to SD card disappear from homescreen if you reatart the phone. Really very annoyed with the update. Gingerbread was butter smooth. Now I want your opinion. Should I go back to GB or should root it and install a custom kernel? Please help.

[Q] Help a newbie out

Evenin' xda!
I'm the proud owner of a non-rooted SGSA and I am having a couple issues I couldn't get my head around so I was hoping that you guys could give me a hand.
My phone's csc was MTL (not my country's csc) and since I couldn't find any JB version made especially for this csc I flashed one released for my country (COA). It ran really smooth for a couple of weeks but every once in a while my systemUI keeps freezing ,or I get some really annoying lag spikes while performing easy tasks like messaging through the stock app or browsing my contact list.
Now, should I flash some other version of JB , a more stable one, if there is such thing, or should I go ahead and root my device?
Would rooting help me out, and by that I'm asking you to tell me whether there are any stable custom ROMs and/or kernels that I could use? (this is where my inner noob kicks in, I'm pretty helpless )
Thanks a bunch !
P.S. I did try to search for answers but I couldn't find anything useful.
Root I would say is a much better answer to your problem.
Root your phone, flash cocore kernel and debloat your system ie remove unwanted files. This will definetely boost up your phones speed and your phone won't freeze.
If you want to.. you can also try CynogenMod 10.1

Yes, CoCore is installed. If you want to install some ROM, charge battery. Now as I see you have 20-30%.

I tried this combination a few days ago and, lags was like hell!!
mannulko, I recommend cm10.1, cause aside from some annoying things such as low volume in call, it's very stable, but you could try some custom roms out there, you could try first version of harsh jelly with any of the cocore kernel, just try different versions and see which one suits you!!!
