The error message and related problem is written right there in front of your nose:
The ZIP file on your SD card does not seem to be ok. Bad download or corrupted while copying onto the SD.
EDIT: If you want to make sure that a large file got copied correctly to the SD (assuming the file you downloaded is ok):
1. Get HashTool
2. Start HashTool, make sure at least "MD5" is checked and drop the ZIP onto the program window.
3. Save the MD5 hash as a .txt file
4. Mount the phone in USB storage mode
5. Copy the ZIP
6. Drop the ZIP you copied onto the SD onto Hashtool and make sure the MD5 matches.
If the MD5 does not match, then the file on the SD is damaged. Turn off the phone, take out the SD and put it into a card reader. Delete the ZIP, copy anew, recheck the MD5. If it's ok now give it a try ... and research a possible problem with the Android drivers on your computer later on.
If it should turn out that the file is also damaged on your computer ... either the download broke (pay close attention to make sure the file came in completely) or you have a funny problem with your hard drive or file system integrity.

Correct - try another ROM or re-flash GingerXperia.
See the edit in my post above about how to make sure that the ZIP got copied correctly.

Repair it using PCC and start all over again, but this time use super1click for rooting your phone and x8toolbox for install CWM and xRecovery
Or try to pull out battery for couple minutes and see if problem still persist, than start your phone without sdcard inside, maybe you sdcard causing it
so far ok ...but it restarted bout 10 mins ago...i scare it happen again..i really hope not, the last time i serviced my phone is caused the sd card problem
I'm going slightly mad....
I've tried all possibilities, but with no use.
Everything went bad, when i unlocked bootloader, and (tried) flashed nAa kernel to use new rom's for my X8. SEMC unlocked bootloader, rooted phone, everything went fine, but... First my phone was stuck on nAa kernel screen after flashing (it said succesfully) nAa kernel and latest cm rom based on nAa kernel. Since than, i tried 10 different nAa based rom's, flashed alfs kernel succesfully and alfs based rom's, stock kernel and stock rom, and than old rom's which worked flawlessly (on stock kernel), relocked bootloader, booted without sd card, everything. But only combo which works is flashed stock kernel and stock rom 2.1.1. Why? What has been gone wrong that now even old rom's based on stock kernel aren't working? Problem with every rom and kernel combo now is that after s.e. (or if i use custom kernel - their logo), goes custom rom logo and than mobile reboots itself and goes all over again - s.e. logo, custom rom logo, and reboot. Left mobile for hours - same thing. Only when i install stock kernel and stock rom (together in one .ftf file), everything works fine. Now phone is with relocked bootloader, rooted, and on stock rom, with everything working correct. But wont let me flash any custom rom, and i don't wanna use phone like this, because nothing is like i'm used to be (i used mostly gingerdx or gingerxperia rom's).
Please help!!
I installed it again, then i rebooted it and now i'm stuck on the sony ericcson white screen. what did i do wrong?
before that i proceeded to install xrecovery and busybox.
any luck or hints?
Restore/Repair with SE Companion, I experience that too, after few reboots with GX V22, that rom will eat your battery.

Tell us the exact steps you perform and how? If you assume you're doing something wrong then you should at least tell us what you do so we can tell if there's something wrong.
I instaled busy box, srecovery, successfully install and used gingerdx. I change my user settings, dl/set up the apps, I even updated to the baseband 15. On the first restart, it will then freeze at SE logo screen

A friend of mine suggested that I try Cyanogenmod, so I decided to flash my Galaxy Mini. The first problem was the bootloop, and no matter how many times I wiped the phone, it was always stuck at the Android text. So I decided to try the Honeycomb mod. Same happened. So I decided to flash it with Android 2.3.6 from sammobile.com. At last, it started working. However, Google Play still sees every application as "installed" (but of course they aren't), and when I try to delete from GP, nothing happens. After trying to install other applications, I realized that I cannot install anything from the market. Any idea how I could solve this problem? I would be very grateful.

Yes I did. I used CWM 5.0.2.6. The funny part is that after being turned off 3 times, Google Play started working But if there's a solution to the bootloop problem I would love to hear it. I searched this forum and the internet and nothing, even though I followed a cyanogenmod wiki's guide.

Anyway, tour problem is the CWM you used, didnt u see the DONT USE sign in the version 5.0.2.6 thread? 5.0.2.8 would avoided those errors in flashing custom ROMs

So I downloaded the new recovery, flashed it via Odin, and now nothing works. When I enter recovery it says that it can't mount /cache/log and /cache/recovery (I think it says these two). I looked around and found that it could be stuck in a bootloop, but luckily Android loads. However, I can't root my phone due to several errors, so I can't install Cyanogen mod. I think I'll give up now But thanks for all the help!

Thanks very much Here is what I did step by step:
I returned to the stock recovery by installing the stock firmware. I rooted the phone with stock recovery. Then I installed CWM recovery 5.2.0.8, but I still get the same error in CWM: it can't mount a few things. I still tried installing Cyanogen without wiping, and of course it's stuck at the boot screen with the Android text (I had a feeling that it wouldn't work if the recovery is not fully operational, so I did not want to lose every contact for nothing again). I read that this problem can be solved by formatting the SDCard, so I tried formatting it with PC and the phone also, but nothing. So now I'm back to the stock firmware and recovery with my phone rooted and no idea how to solve any of the problems.

This was just a trial run due to the new CWM recovery. If you read back, I already wrote that I tried wiping both data and cache before and after flashing Cyanogen mod. This "mounting" problem only came up with the new CWM recovery, 5.2.0.8.
The basic Google Apps were all there, since I used a rom from sammobile.com, downloaded programs like poweramp were the ones that did not work.

Yes, I guess I will stay with the stock :/ Though I'll try again when a new CWM recovery and a new Cyanogen mod come out.
Good afternoon,
I'm sorry i'm creating a new thread about an old subject, but i just can't get my X8 to work with custom kernel+rom. I've searched the forum for the same issue but none of the solutions described worked. Until this moment i had to use PCC to flash my smartphone back to normal about 10 times and it's starting to get very annoying. I've followed the devs instructions on all procedures thoroughly, rooting, bootlader unlock, flashing kernel and installing ROM, and it always gets stuck on the kernel logo wether is it before or after flashing the rom (unless i press the back button). To this moment, i've tried nAa-14 and alfs v09 kernel, GingerDX and Zaraki roms, followed guides step by step. I'm a newbie in the smartphones area but not when it comes to computers. Throughout my 'voyage' i had a number of bumps i had to overcome, like having the installation aborted (bad) error when trying to install a rom, which i solved by downloading the zip directly to the SDcard like described here in the forums. GGdrivers are installed, and so are the SE USB drivers, phone is recognized by PCC with no problems.
I honestly have no idea what might be wrong, and as i said, i've done a search before creating a new thread but nothing helped, or maybe i'm just missing a tiny detail. I would really like the help since this is my first smartphone and i would like to play with my new toy!
Thanks and sorry for any inconvenience.
EDIT: I forgot something. In the kernel installation guide is requested that after flashing it, to check in the phone settings if everything is ok. I can't even boot the phone after flashing the kernel (gets stuck on kernel logo) which means my problem is related to something previous to it? Maybe bootlock? I'm pretty sure i'm doing what's required.
Appreciate the fast answer.
I get stuck on the logo wether is it before or after flashing the rom. The only way i don't get stuck is to press the back button to boot into cwm.
Yes i've tried to wipe after and before, and it didn't work. And these were the only roms and kernels i've tried.
There's no problem with hardbricking my device by the way, 11w03.
I'll have to get out for a while, but i will come back later to check all the answers, this is a priority for me at the moment

Don't full wipe two times, either before or after, you can see this at the rom thread.
One basic detail that many forget is that you must have baseband that lasts to 15,so it would be like this xxx015

I didnt full wipe when trying gingerdx, as you said its not requested, only wiped with zaraki. I can confirm my baseband is xxxx015.

You have to full wipe, don't full wipe two times, gingerdx needs full wipe before installing the rom....
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
I tried again using the correct wiping method for gingerdx and it still freezes on kernel logo. the weird thing is that it freezes the first time it boots after flashing the kernel, meaning it has nothing to do with the rom, right? and maybe even not related to the kernel itself. i'm completely clueless about this, i wish i had a friend who could do it for me, because i can't detect anything done wrong.
What version of cwm are you using?
Sent from my X8 using xda premium
i'm not quite sure what's the version of cwm since it installs itself along with nAa-14 kernel, but i think it was v5.0.2.8

please don't destroy my hopes of having a working custom rom on my phone jokes aside, i get your point, but doesn't it seem not logical that i'm the only one who can't get it to work? it's weird enough i can't boot my phone after flashing the kernel....
i could post a video, sure, but it's pretty straightforward. after i flash the kernel, unplug the phone from PC and boot it up, IF i don't boot into cwm, it will freeze on the kernel logo, making it impossible to even check the phone settings as requested in gingerdx thread. AFTER i install the rom and reboot the phone, it will still show the kernel logo and freeze again (if i understand correctly this is not supposed to happen, what's supposed to show on the screen after the rom is installed are the normal SE logos.)
So, summing up. Flash kernel, turn phone on, freezes on kernel logo if i don't use back button to go into cwm. If i enter cwm, install rom from sdcard, reboot, it shows the kernel logo and freezes if i don't use back button again.
Don't know if it helps but the only way to turn the phone off when it freezes is removing the battery. Sometimes after placing the battery again it will automatically turn on.
Dunno what's wrong, why don't you try with stock kernel and gdx,or why don't you try different rom(yea neither gdx nor gzr)

You have to format the partitions after flashing the kernel. In CWM recovery, go to 'mounts and storage' and format all the partitions except /sdcard.

Try some other roms like minicm7. Do it in this order
Flash the kernel
Boot to cwm
Format system,data,cache
Fullwipe/Factory reset
Install Rom
Reboot
....wait .....
I do this every time i install a new rom..
Make sure The rom you have downloaded belongs to x8..

I will do that right away. I will also download a few others roms (and respective kernels) and try them all out. Only one thing, I was going to download MiniCM10 and i saw this in its post: "MiniCM10 is an unofficial port of CyanogenMod 10 for the SEMC msm7x27 devices." What does it mean 'for the SEMC msm7x27 devices'? Is it related to bootload unlock? Because i get Setool2 Certificate instead of SEMC. Does this make my problem a little easier?
EDIT: Ok, i've just tried ICZaraki+nAa-04-ics, minicm10+nAa-jb, gingerdx/gingerzaraki+nAa 11, and guess what, none worked.... We have to start thinking this is not related with the kernel or rom maybe? Any suggestions? When i tried the nAa-11 kernel, when i booted up the phone a white led popped up instead of a green one. I'm not worried if this takes a whole month to fix, i'm up for any suggestions and ideas of any kind, just throw them at me.

Yes, bootload is unlocked, i have the "r". Or is there any chance that even with the "r" it's still locked? Anyway, i followed the guides with no problem.

am i supposed to specify a device (device id?) or just log all and upload them here?
I've searched through XDA (manually and with search function) but can't find the answer I need, so am trying here hoping someone will help.
I was running GingerDX v29 on my X8, happily, when I was notified of an update to v030. I left it a few days and then got the notification of an update to v031b. There was two options on the screen: Download GingerDX v031b, or download GingerDX stock. I figured since I'm already using GingerDX I should be able to just download the new version rather than the stock.
So I downloaded it to my SD card, rebooted to CWM and choose to install the download. All seemed to go through fine, I got a success message, and was invite to reboot. I rebooted, and I'm now stuck with "Sony Ericsson" across my screen and nothing else. No access to CWM etc.
I guess I have two questions:
1) Can I get back to v29 or finish off the update to v031b, without having to erase everything and redo whatever it was I had to do to get v29 on there in the first place (v29 was the first ROM I installed on my handset)?
2) What should I have done when presented with the options for upgrading? (I'd kinda like to acoid the same mistake in future.)
All help gratefully received, and I'll be liberal with the Thanks button
TIA
in CWM wipe cache and dalvk cache
if phone doesnt boot flash v29 back and create backup
than flash 31b,wipe data/cache and advance restore data from backup created earlier...wipe cache again
good luck
and post questions in Q/A section

I've searched through XDA (manually and with search function) but can't find the answer I need, so am trying here hoping someone will help.
I was running GingerDX v29 on my X8, happily, when I was notified of an update to v030. I left it a few days and then got the notification of an update to v031b. There was two options on the screen: Download GingerDX v031b, or download GingerDX stock. I figured since I'm already using GingerDX I should be able to just download the new version rather than the stock.

"sony ericsson" logo on boot...thats stock kernel
Yeah, I think it's stock (I soft-bricked the handset once before, and followed instructions elsewhere on XDA to unbrick it - I think those instructions used a stock kernal)

I think I did (as part of the v029 install (or maybe it was the v030 install - I can't even remember which one of those I was on)), but I can't say for sure. I definitely didn't when I tried to update to v031b. I just ran the .zip and when I got the confirmation of success I rebooted. Haven't got passed the Sony Ericsson logo since.

What would I need to have been running in order to have used the GingerDX v31b? (Sorry - I'm still learning about stock, kernels, ROMs, Alfs, nAa etc, so don't yet understand what they all mean / do / are used for.)
Is there any way I can recover my phone without having to reinstall all my apps etc?

you have unlocked bootloader? if so then flash custom kernel and it will boot fine.
you can use adb to backup your apps or flash back the previous version and backup them.
you might have downloaded the rom that was not for stock kernel.
your phone is soft bricked, can be repaired using sony pc companion.
