Download a 4.1.2 RUU and extract it with 7-zip (or similar software) and you will see recovery (.img file). Flash in fastboot: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img.

There are different stock recoverys

Flash the Rom in recovery the go into bootloader and fastboot flash the boot.IMG unless you're s-off in which case you can download my s-off kernel version and just flash that in recovery too.

[Q] How to Flash Radio via fastboot

I am using ATT htc one with developer edition OS. And I learned from the forum there was new radio released be att. So I tried to flash it.
However, since I want OTA work, I chose to stay with the stock recovery and therefore I cannot flash it via custom recovery like a lot of threads in here talking about. I searched and only found the procedure from other htc product's forum as below.
1) adb reboot-bootloader
2) fastboot flash radio radio.img
But "fastboot flash radio radio.img" has no response at all.
I got the img from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=232556. It was extracted from Radio_4A.16.3250.24_10.38.1150.03.zip.
My current build is 1.29.1540.17, while baseband is still 4A.14.3250.13, which is the original. And Ive already s-offed and unlocked bootloader.
Any help about flashing? Thanks in advance.

Did you try the fastboot flash command in RUU mode? Fastboot oem reboot RUU. This is just a guess on my part, but that's the mode for firmware flashing, so guessing it might work for the radio too.
In order for a radio to be flashed in fastboot it has to be packaged in a zip file that rubootRUU mode understands. It's easier for most people to just flash in recovery

Thanks, gunny. I had an idea that was how it worked, I appreciate the knowledge! Is the OP out of luck then? Is there any way for him to flash a radio if he's on stock recovery?
It's easy enough to flash custom recovery then radio then put stock recovery back on.

Oh, so like the normal way the rest of us did it lol! Thanks, gunny!
Thank you all. Looks like the only choice for me now is stop being lazy and use custom recovery, then flash it back to stock.
In the first place, I thought there was an easy method to use fastboot like other htc products.

So I guess the zip file I got was prepared for recovery use only, right? I have been comparing it with firmware zip file found in RUU flashing thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506&highlight=flash+latest+radio+fastboot). RUU flash's file includes android-info.txt to enable fastboot read the image inside zip file.

I forgot about this file that was posted in AT&T Developer Forum, it's a packaged firmware file with only radio updates. The post also contains the latest firmware that includes newest touch driver. Newest touch driver doesn't work with 4.1.2 ROMs and older recoveries.

what exactly is that "system.img" you are trying to flash?
I converted my HTC ONE a half a year ago into a GPE ONE.
I used the GPE RUU 4.3 and flashed my HTC with fastboot; changed also model id and cid...
Im afraid but i cannot post the link to that tutorial.
Just type in on google search "Convert HTC ONE Google Edition android wonder how to" and click on the first one...
I think this file is the normal 4.3 GPE RUU! But in this file there is also an system.img... i thought it is the right one to flash ?!

Have you checked for OTA ? Also remember that lots of people are having issues with 4.4, and if you already have an issue with recovery, might not be a good idea to go with 4.4 right now.

Pls help I want to update to kitkat!

My htc one is on 4.2.2 rooted with touch recovery mode when I flash stock deoxed 4.4.2 kitkat to it it wont flash and this is showed.. anyone can help?
It would be great if you could specify what exactly you want to flash and what specific version of the One you have. Is it a GE ROM that you are trying to flash? Also, you need latest TWRP for Kit Kat 4.4.2 ROMs.

Thanks mate. As a lot of people also access xda via tapatalk on their mobile devices, it makes it so much easier to offer help when specific info about a problem is provided which is not always visible in the app. So, for example in your case:
International One, TWRP 2.6.3.0 S-On/S-Off currently running XXX ROM trying to flash XXX ROM
And right away it is clear that you need to update your recovery.

Is it possible to get the p20 pro stock recovery image for reflashing so i could update the firmware?
Or do i need to completely restore my phone for it?
Thanks for the help!

Hello starbase64,
Shouldn't it be fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk RAMDISK_8.1.0.106_CLT-L29.img ? like when flashing TWRP using fastboot flash recovery_ramdisk twrp.img
I'd like to return to stock to perform an update as well and got "surprised" that there is a difference in the command between the 2 recoveries - but as this is the stock one, this could be a reason...
Thanks a lot
Hi,
does anybody have the stock recovery for CLT-L09 (single-SIM)?
Or can I use the L29 recovery?

How did you extract the file?
I extracted the file ramdisk_a.img from UPDATE.APP, and flashed it, and it bricked my phone...
This seems to work with the P20 as well according to the description:
