Battery drain issues (mediaserver, etc) on GE Rom - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So, I have this ROM installed on my AT&T One. Everything is working well, except that battery drain today was pretty bad. Now, the phone was basically on my pocket for 11+ hours, some fours of which was in the car for a road trip.
I've attached two screenshots, which show unusually high use by Mediaserver, and the next 3 biggest uses are Wi-Fi (which I do keep turned on), Cell standby and Phone idle.
Any ideas why these are so damn high? I don't know what the Mediaserver is showing up with that much usage. I didn't listen to any music today. The only battery uses below Chrome in the attachment are Android System w/ 5%, Android OS w/ 2% and Google Services w/ 2%.

Play Google music?

Thrill Battery Life - Actually Decent?

I know there's a million posts about battery life sucks on the LG Thrill.
At first, I agreed.
But now I've had my Thrill just over 2 weeks. And it seems to last longer.
Not sure if it just needed time to break-in or what.
But I use my phone to sync with my company exchange server and sync contacts, calendar, emails (with about 150 emails a day). I also sync a personal email account, use Twitter, FB, News, Stocks, and Weather widgets with regular updates. (I rarely make phone calls)
It's about 12 hours unplugged now and the battery still shows full. I think 2 weeks ago it would have been near half.
I thought I'd throw this comment out there for anyone else that experienced poor battery life. Maybe give it two weeks and see if it gets better.
If your battery shows 100% after 12hours of use, I would think there's something wrong with the actual battery indicator software or whatnot.
Personally, using it very lightly with Superpower throttling down the CPU + shutting down wifi + data after 30s, the battery drops to 70% after 3hours of use. I would listen to some music for about 10-15mn in that 3h period, maybe browse xda for 5mn total.
I had the phone for about 10days now...

Something isnt right there... signal issues maybe? i checked mine earlier and was at 73% after 12%

Maybe the poster meant that the battery icon itself showed full because it's still got a decent charge despite it not being at 100%.
I actually noticed the battery life thing as well the longer I have had the device the better the battery life has gotten. I actually got around 20 hrs. on a full battery charge before I hit 15% so I think a Lot has to due with the way you use the phone. If your a media freak (Streaming Music, Bluetooth Headphones, Wi-Fi, Data always on, etc) than yea your battery will drain quite fast. I usually have bluetooth turned Off, Wi-Fi Turned Off when not near wi-fi that I access because Wi-Fi will constantly look for a signal which in turn drains the hell out of your battery, and Data turned off considering half the apps out there like to access data (In bed with ATT anyone) and I only have 200mb of data per month plus it saves on battery life.

[Q] Battery draining problem - help needed please

I've got a UK release HTC One (M7) that was bought unlocked SIM free in July last year. It has never been rooted, but has had all official updates applied so far (Kitkat 4.4.2 the latest, still waiting on Sense 6.0).
The phone battery lasts a few days on standby, but actually use the phone for anything (calls, texts, surf the net, simple game or listen to music) the battery drains at roughly 1% every 2 mins (It's a good job I don't play graphic games, watch video or stream). I factory reset the phone and deleted everything on it, charged it to 100% and in the 2 hours it took me to set it up again and re-download apps and install them the battery dropped to 38%, so based on that I'd be lucky to get 4 hours use out of the phone on a full charge.
I have battery saver on with roaming, syncing, GPS, Bluetooth, mobile data all disabled as standard, with only wireless enabled (but that goes off when the phone sleeps - screen is set to low brightness and 1 minute), I've also gone through every app and disabled those I can't delete and that give me the option like Blinkfeed, FB, Twitter, Maps, Google Music, Play, Drive etc, but the battery still drains quickly - any ideas please? would rooting and using a custom ROM help?
Cheers
Try a battery monitoring app like GSAM or BBS to check for apps and wakelocks, which are causing the drain.

So you got 2 Hours of screen on time.. I'd say that's pretty decent, considering all the app installs you must've done. Typical battery life on this phone would get you anywhere between two hours to six hours of screen on time. In the remaining 38%, you'd probably get an hour and 15 or 30 minutes. What you were doing after you reset the phone wan't normal usage.. If you want to improve the battery life, read the posts on the battery stats thread and ask for recommendations there. Also, try keeping your phone cool, it'll help the battery a lot. Basically, what i've noticed is as soon as the phone gets hot, your battery gets over much quicker.

Need help with battery drain

I have not rooted my phone, running 5.1.1.
My phone is draining like 10-15% per hour with very minimal screen on time or idle. more than that when I'm using my phone. Last time I checked, using Gsam, I was 4 hours off charger, an hour 30 of screen on time (most all of that was twitter and and using groupme) and i was at 34% battery. according to Gsam: screen used 29%, wifi used 30%, and app usage was at 33%. of all my apps, android system and kernel were the only ones above like 5%, so no rogue app according to gsam. That whole 4 hours I have been at my house with a stable wifi and cell signal.
I will get a screen shot if needed. But how can I figure out what is causing the huge wifi drain? "turning off wifi" is not a valid fix either. wifi should not use more battery than the screen and basically the same as all my apps.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Mine is acting pretty similarly. Usually I cannot break 2 hours of SOT in around 6 hours of being off a charger - pretty bad. I hear the Facebook app causes quite a bit of drain, so I'll first be getting rid of that to see what happens. If that doesn't work, I'll probably go the route of a factory reset. Maybe these might work for you too?
I'd also check and see what your location settings might be. High accuracy seems to be a killer. Same goes for HD voice or whatever it is for calls, which can be turned off in the settings.
Good luck!
I have hd voice disabled, i just disabled facebook (since its factory installed and they wont let you uninstall it, i hate that). i also turned off google fit, i'll see if that helps.
did anything help?
Disable all bloatware with package disabler pro

Battery drain

Hello people
I bought z3compact, and I started to have big problems with battery drain, I tried to downgrade on 5.0.2, then tried factory, then 6.0.1 beta, and at least I tried custom rom Lolipop Slim and everytime is same story, I barely had one day battery juice, and when i go to sleep, I lose more than 20% thorough the night, when I go to settings number one in battery using is Cell standby, SOT I have barely 2 hours.
Is there any help, I think the radio is problem.
Thank you very much

Check the mobile radio active time in the apps that show the greatest battery drain. If any of them are more than an hour when you're sleeping, then the big has bitten you. Connect to wifi as a workaround. There's also a supposed fix for the mobile radio active bug somewhere on XDA. Try searching and food luck!

so I tried everything, and the result is that when mobile goes to sleep I have to many wakelocks, around 3500 wakelocks in one night, but when screen is on i have on 10 percent around 1 hour of SOT, please help me

Look at which apps are using the most battery under settings/power management/battery usage.
UNINSTALL facebook, which will be the biggest eater of battery, access it through the webpage
If you have a rooted phone, install AFWall., then restrict whatsapp, twitter,*messging apps* to wifi only, see if that makes a difference. Once you see a difference in batterybehavior, slowly let them back onto mobile data one at a time until you find the culprit (whatsapp probably)
Google Play Services is a usual suspect. Start by turning off synchronise on your google account.
There's a fix for google here.
If you have poor reception of mobile signal in your house, trying turning the phone to GSM.
Settings/wifi/advanced wifi - scanning always available OFF - keep wifi on during sleep ONLY WHEN PLUGGED IN
Research on the BBS thread
If you have a rooted phone download Disableservice from the playstore.
Once it's installed, open the system tab, open Google Play Services, then untick (disable) the following:
ConfigFetchService
FitnessSyncAdapterService
GoogleLocationManagerService
GoogleLocationService
NetworkLocationService
ProximitySettingInjectorService
UserPresenceService
WearableControlService
WearableService
WearableSyncService
then reboot your phone.
Disabling these from running should have no impact on your phone, it doesn't for me, and will give you 10-15% more battery life.
The other thing that extended my battery life was deleting the cached data. Settings\Storage and hold down on Cached data until you get a popup asking you to delete it. I know it sounds bizarre, but it really worked.
As a last resort you could try amplify as it is good at reducing wakelocks, but to get it running requires xposed as well as entering lots and lots of changes to the phone timings, getting these wrong will stuff your phone! Beware

There's an extremely great guide here on XDA on how to save battery Here check this out
It incorporates Greenify which is used to hibernate apps, Amplify which is to limit wakelocks and many more, personally Ive been noticing a great improvement, I only lose 1% per 8 hours per night of sleep
battery
So I tried everything that you wrote, and last hope was KITKAT, and baterry is little bit better but not enough, barely I can use it one day, so when I am on sleep battery % drops quite fast, about 4% per hour, but when I have screen on I have 20- 25 minute in 10 % of battery. do you think it is battery bad or software bug?
Thank you
So guys i put marshmallow, and when the screen is on all day i have 6 h of SOT, but when it sleeps i have barely 1-2 h SOT, what the hell is going on with my phone
Screen on time measures just that, the amount of time the screen is on. You can drain the battery by playing music all day and get 0 hours of screen on time. It is not and should not be used as an indicator of battery life. Send us another screen shot of your usage statistics

I do have what's app and Instagram apart from the other two that you mentioned .. my general use is of 3.5 to 4 hours per day but by the end of day the battery dies..so my question is should I stop background running apps? I have around 30 to 35 apps installed on phone..
I got this tips for battery longevity..
Also, don't put phone on vibration mode...it consumes battery...either silent or sound..
Attached
1) get charger alarm and set it to 80%
2) disable uselesa background apps.
Thats it.
I charge to 80% every morning, despite having 4G volte + data 24/7 with upto 2 hours calling, 30mins-60mins gaming, 1hr+ chatting, 30mins+ 9gag, 30mins youtube...
Mine phone still stays around 35%...when I check next morning
Data (4g), location, auto synch are ALWAYS turned ON
(Yesterday my totol usge was 5.5hours with 1hour gaming (fortnite)... My battery was at 25% when i checked this morning)
I recently bought the honor play but have found the battery usage to be higher than I would like at night during standby. I leave my phone connected to wifi and 4g (although 4g is not on when wifi is) and I noticed that the phone wakes up a lot during the night. It seems that it mostly wakes up more often when on wifi as when on 4g during the day there are far fewer wake up events. So to solve this problem I'm using tasker to disable wifi, deny all network activity (excluding calls), bluetooth and auto sync for me during 11:30pm and 7.30am. The result is that the phone barely wakes up at night now and I am getting 2-3% battery drain over 8 hours instead of 10-14%. So I would recommend doing this, as it seems to improve battery life. There may be other apps that can do the same thing but I like the interface and usability of it over something like automate.
Edit: I would also recommend leaving the standard power saving mode on all the time as it doesn't limit performance but just limits background activity. However, this does disable auto sync, but then you could just set auto sync to turn on at set intervals using tasker, at least that's what I'm doing.
