[Q - Baseband] Benefits of flashing baseband? - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

I'm using XperimenT 2.9 with Doomkernel V7 on my Xperia T (LT30P) and I wonder if there are any benefits is flashing another baseband on it a there were huuuuge benefits in signal strength and H/H+ detection and battery life (baseband 64/72) on my Xperia Arc LT15i.
Right now the phone's working pretty well only it hardly ever detects H/H+ while coverage in my area is perfect. It usually stays on UMTS 3G when i'm not within WiFi range.
Now, I'm wondering if flashing a different baseband can possibly improve this or if the baseband has no effect on it on the T then what can I do to improve detection of H/H+?
And another question is where to get the basebands.. In the Arc they are posted all over XDA but for the T I can't find any loose basebands..

Hmm, I just noticed in the Device Hidden Menu that I don't have the selection for HSDPA in the Networks menu. Only CDMA/W-CDMA/GSM/LTE/EvDO. Did a flash go bad or something?
EDIT: Never mind the last, when using WCDMA Only or WCDMA Preferred it picks up HSDPA / HSPAP from time to time but it can't hold it steady while my old Arc ALWAYS has H/H+ and with CM10.1 I always have H+ on this one as well.

[Q] How to improve 3g (HSDPA) signal ?

Hi,
I am on Darky 9.5 ROM with ZSJPG modem which is working perfect on 2G. Just recently my operator enabled 3G service and the signal is very weak max 20% (on average 12%) whereas on 2G on average i have 80%. I though that is maybe my operator but when i travel abroad i get the same results with different operators.
Is there any way to improve 3G reception - some tweaks or maybe a different modem
Thanks

I think it's the matter about your carrier...
when I was on stock 2.3.6 with my sgs I always had 3g full speed...
then I flashed dark knight v2 signal 3g wasnt always there...
a little later I updates to dark knight v3 and I have no 3g whatso ever
now I have a few questions.
- Does flashing another modem change that ?
- Does flashing another modem work just as flashing anything ?
- Is modem region decided ?
Or ... Is signal just crap because of settings ?
thanks !

[Q] Xperia TL LTE loss of data

I commute about 30 miles to work from an area with "4G" HSPA+ to an area with 4G LTE, on the way home, going from LTE to HSPA+, my Xperia loses data connection for at close to 10 miles, in an area that should still have LTE. I've also noticed drops of data in areas of the city which are covered by LTE as well.
Problem is, I have to wait and turn the radio on/off for it to get a data connection again (by the time it connects on the way home I'm in an HSPA+ only zone). Do any other TL owners experience these data dead zones on LTE, where there should be something, even if it's HSPA+/EDGE, but the phone won't connect to it?
There also doesn't seem to be any way to disable LTE on the Xperia TL, or I would try that.
I have not experienced any data drops out of the ordinary low signal areas. I live in a rural area so these are expected. I have streamed NBA games while riding in a car with just these normal disruptions. You can disable LTE by flashing a Xperia T firmware and including the baseband. T doesn't support LTE.

You can disable it quite easily.
In your dialer type: *#*#4636#*#* (*#*# info#*#*)
Choose phone information, and there is an option to choose which radios you would like to use.

Network coverage

It says on my Cell info that I didnt had signal for like 50-90% everyday...is this a bug or ?? and this consumes like 7% of my battery..but the wierd thing is that my phone /internet connections works everytime .
I've got the same since 4.2.2
so i have 4 friends with sony xperia Z all of them have this problem ... maybe this is a BUG?
Go into network mode and make sure it not got 4g on because that's one of the reason I loose signal but 4g turns back on when I restart device or change SIM I had no network on my s3 due to SIM card

I turned of 4G in network settings. Still same problem. Even after flashing ftf file same problem.
On 4.1.2 never had this issue. Always 0% time without signal.
I can't reproduce this "bug".
I have a percentage of 38% w/o cell network, but it's Because i drive to work everyday and there are many places w/o cell network on the way.
I'm using .244 Based Monxdified Rom.

I'm on 3 (for those of you who haven't heard of them, they are the worst network ever in the UK) and I don't have a signal for between 95 to 100% of the day. Yeh, sucks right.

Xperia T - battery drain while 3g mode on

Hello,
I've been doing some tests and I can prove the 3g circuit of our T's is draining too much battery.
You may think this is a placebo effect but it's not. Numbers are numbers:
- With 3G ON (and no switching only 3g mode) - screen on time it moves within 1:15h - 1:55h
- With only GSM (2g) - screen on time goes easily to 2:45h - 3:20h
The same happens if Wifi is ON, screen on time is the same as with GSM.
The difference in my opinion is huge, I though android version could be the root of the problem but after upgrading to 4.3 (stock version) I experience the same results.Maybe is my phone that has a faulty 3g circuit but if not, I don't understand this as 2g & 3g are supposed to have the same power consumption.

I am noticing the same, on WiFi i can reach 5 hours of SOT. On 3g only 2. And im using 3g almost all the time. It got worse in 4.3 btw on 4.1 i could reach 2,5 hours and longer standby times
3g is a Battery drainer since ever
Spot on. I haven't heared someone that stated 2g time same as 3g. On The contrary

That's the thing. If 3G drains that much battery then I was thinking on developing an app that will do the following:
If screen is on -> connect 3g
else connect 2g
It's very simple and it will save battery time. While screen is off, 2g is actually enough, push notifications aren't that heavy
Sony's STAMINA mode doesn't help me due it disconnects data traffic so I miss all push notifications...they should implement that out of the box, or Google instead...
However, I couldn't find a way using android api to switch network mode...you can switch off the data traffic but not its mode, weird :S anyone knows?
The smart radio feature of Gravity Box will switch to 2G after you turned off the screen and back to 3G when you turn on.

[Q] Poor / Bad GSM signal XT890

Motorola is famous in signal reception, but on my RAZR i (XT890), cell signal is bellow average, often even completely lost. In some, for my RAZR prolematic area, my daughter, on her low price cellphone has full signal, as my sister also does on her phone.
My phone is a gift from France and I'm using it in Croatia. Maybe the problem is in default network frequencies? My network operates on 900/1900 and 2100 Mhz for UMTS, and the phone is maybe predefined to work on 850/1800?
My question is: can I resolve this problem maybe (hopefully), by editing and changing some values in "build.prop"?
At least few hint would be most apprecciated.
If you consider editing your build.prop to fix this problem you're likely rooted and bootloader unlocked also. In this case you can flash a different version of the radio firmware. There is C7 and C9, which belong to the two ICS firmwares and another one which belongs to the JB ROM. You can try and flash either C7 or C9 (I recommend C9) and test if signal gets better. JB radio firmware is know to be problematic in some areas. Additionally there will be some improvement in batterylife, too.
Here is a tutorial for flashing the firmware: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2128251
I hope that helps.

Yes, I am rooted and bootloader unlocked, JB 4.1.2 Stock Retail.en.EU with Arman68 mods and [email protected] #3 Kernel 3.0.34.
I will try C9 as you recommended. Thank you very much for your help.
EDIT:
After flashing and two reboots, signal is still bad; from -95 to -105 dBm....
When I change setting in Testing tools (*#*#4636#*#*) to "Only GSM" instead "WCDMA preferred", the signal gets to -75 dBm but EDGE only!
And this setting can stay till the next reboot, when it automatically revert to "WCDMA preferred" with HSPA and signal back to approx. -105 dBm
Is there anything else I can do? Maybe with editing "buil.prop"?
