Big HTC rant! - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
My post beings with a question: why do HTC have to make things so difficult??
So I was looking through my dropbox folder and saw pictures of my holiday in Florida last year and thought "those pics would look lovely and crisp on my full hd display" so I downloaded them to my windows pc, installed HTC sync and drivers etc only to find....
Theirs no mass storage mode, theirs no MTP, HTC sync is the worst syncing app ever as it only syncs from your phone and not to it!
So can someone please clear something up? How do I drag and drop stuff to my HTC one (international)??
Rant over lol

Hook it to PC go to computer go to htc device and drag/drop?
Shouldn't be hard man unless your PC isn't picking up the device due to drivers.

Does it show as removable storage?? Or a file??

When installing drivers and stuff, many posts tell to delete htc sync as it Sucks big time. Remove it and the windows mtp should work. That's how I've managed on my nexus 4, Oppo Find 5 and now HTC One. Oh Btw this will likely get moved to the q&a. Happy surfing

Removable storage just like any USB drive.
I had issues with drivers and windows 8 doing some wacky stuff. Don't know if its the same thing. But he's right. Remove HTC sync its crap.

Actually it was Google who screwed up on this one not htc because of how the sd card is formatted.

No it was HTC sync... all other devices work fine over MTP and I've had no issues.
AirDroid is a great alternative as well.

It's beginning to annoy me quite frankly lol all I wanna do is add some pics to my phone but HTC sync doesn't work and despite being in safe mode to remove HTC sync, it won't let me uninstall it in safe mode....wtf?!?!
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
just install airdriod from the play store and quit using inferior tools

Turn on USB Debugging and you get regular drag and drop MTP.

Install Dropbox on your PC and just get them from there?
If I read OP right.

Phone does work as a mass storage drive, not sure what you are doing wrong w yours, I was able to copy all manner of media files easily from laptop HD to SD storage memory. No need to blame htc
Sent from my HTC One Sinless ver 1.5 GE rom
Works for me. Place files from pc to HTC one as a media device. I don't have HTC sync installed.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Yea not sure why we are jumping through loops here...If the pictures are already on Dropbox why don't just open/download them from the mobile app?
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
The cool thing about using a Mac is whenever I connect a media device it auto starts aperture which allows me to save my pictures into an album if in chose. This bypasses drag and drop and drop box. Either way like someone said just turn on USB debug and you should be able to mount as a drive and drag and drop.

I set up an applescript to monitor my dropbox photo upload folder and automatically add new photos to iPhoto. When I get home I can edit or delete the ones I don't want.
Why don't you just use dropbox app on your phone if you have the pictures on your dropbox account? :cyclops:

Also, pretty sure a $9 16GB USB stick is more cost effective than pretty much any 16GB cloud storage option. Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
There is actually a thread over in the Themes and Apps section that the developer made. He is really open to input. I like the app, as I don't have to root to use a flash drive with videos saved on it. Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
Well, isn't that a kick in the teeth, because I just rooted last night simply to use USB OTG. At first I kind of felt "meh" over the read only factor, but then I got to thinking, am I really going to need to transfer from tablet to external media? I'd much rather transfer from external media to tablet, do what I need to do with watching whatever content I may have, then simply delete it off the tablet... no reason to transfer it back when it's the same darn file. Some people may have uses for having a 2 way setup, but I'm sure this will fit the bill for a lot of people. I do find it a considerable bummer that ext* file systems aren't supported, but meh.
Thank you thank you thank you! Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium

Nice find! I travel with my Nexus and having the videos accessible from a USB drive on the airplane is great. Wifi on a plane is good for Facebook and email, nothing else. Sent from my Sony Tablet S using xda app-developers app
I grabbed this app. I am new to Android so seeing how people can just make apps to actually add more hardware features is amazing to me.

i dont understand the bickering of cloud data. it is nice but i have 20 hours of plane flights coming up. cloud data will not be a very good solution for me compared to plugging a hard drive into my tablet.
Being a non-root user, this is great news for me. I always used splashtop to watch my videos directly from my computer, though it gave me no trouble, I would much rather have the movie with me. Can't wait till the developer puts it back up.
What is the name of the app? Can anyone share the APK?
Downloaded Nexus Media Importer yesterday. It works as needed on my GNex, Nexus 7 and Xoom. No root necessary. Amazing! I'd pay for this app in a heartbeat! Sorry have no place to upload it.
Looks like the developer is now charging for it: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.nexususb.importer&hl=en
Recover photos?
Hi there I made a bit of an error and deleted some family photos from internal storage. Does anyone know if there is a way to get them back. My phone is unrooted if that makes a difference. Cheerd Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app

Word Documents
Hello my friends, What is the easiest way to transfer my word documents from my Mac to the Htc One. Which is the best App to use?

I am not sure if this is what you are looking to do, but you can upload all of your documents to Google Drive. Then you can access them from your One through the Drive app. Sent from my HTC One

I had the same error, check post 4 here to see if that is your problem http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1691462 Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
I used to get this issue on my Thunderbolt constantly, something in my Google contacts is messing up the sync. I just disabled syncing of contacts, but I don't use google for my contacts anymore anyway so it wasn't an issue.

I think I meant the built in music player. My situation is I just got a wireless speaker with HTC CONNECT built in. I've tried to find a system dump but couldn't. So if I can get the music app apk that's a start. Thanks guys. Sent from a kit-katty moto x
That will be extremely hard to port over to a different device. Like stated before, it relies on a bunch of framework stuff. Sent from my HTC One using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Ah ok. Nvm then. I found the pioneer control app pulls my music on my phone and let's Me "airplay" to the speaker. Thanks thought. Sent from a kit-katty moto x
