Dead pixel. No cure, Manufacturers won't accept a return for less than 3 or 4.

Two options:
1. Buy a new screen and install it using a heat gun and some experience
2. go to where you bought it. Sure it is just one pixel? I mean you have 2073600 pixel (or whatever 2073599  ) and it shouldn´t be easy to detect one with all these details. Use a lens and check it

In my warranty card it was written that more than 2 are needed in order to send it to service
So find one !!

I am using my note for 9 months now. I want to know if i have dead pixels in tge oled display by now and if there are such dead pixels how to identify them????

You'd see them as blue, red or green spots or possibly black.

Ideally you can do this in e. g. a picture editing app, to check for anomalies in different colours. But that may be over the top

takes you to LCT test and use red green and blue to test any black pixels during the color display.
usually i have seen a lot of notes with one or 2 pixels not working mainly on the red and green sides
Thanks all, there is one more thing i want to know, how much is the normal age of oled??? I mean what is its fate? I always thought that its the best display but knowing that its pixels burn with use made me a little worried. I dont think its a good news for most of us.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda app-developers app
I don't know exactly figures but amoled being organic has a reduced lifetime compared to oled. There are also factors to consider such as direct sunlight, so if you're in a sunny place unlike Britain, you're screen will error out more rapidly.

Hey people I own a galaxy Note. I love it. But one thing is my display shows a pixel which is inactive. You can see it when the display is on and shows black colour.
My question should I send it to Samsung? Warranty still have but I used sandpaper to make the middle bezel better look. Does my warranty still works? If not how to fix it? Any shop where I can order a silver bezel? Will the antenna work? N7000 Germany? Thanks a lot in advance.

This is an open poll for everyone, share your experience with those nasty pixels, you got one? Two? More? None? :fingers-crossed:
No dead pixels here. But with such high PPI, i think it might be hard to notice a single bad pixel.
None that I can see.
None for me also very happy.
I got one and it's going back as soon as they have more in stock..

Another quick way to ensure that your screen is ok is the service menu,
directly from the dialer press:
*#*#7378423#*#*
then under the "service tests" choose "display" and tap on the screen,
the stuck pixels can be found easily on black and white screen tests.
"Does Your Z Transform Into A Microwave Oven?"
The Z; the phone that keeps on giving Next poll:
- YES! : ██████████ 70%
- Not Yet! : █████ 20%
- No : ██ 10%
2 Z's both with dead pixels. The guy in the store was really patronising earlier. Will visit him again tomorrow!

Very important ! --> Check it on FULL brightness , a pixel mistake shows then only .....
Use Dead Pixel Test (UJACHA) app from Plays Store.
I test 2 xperia z with 2 bright pixel on each phone until the third one with none.
The best way to test it is by looking at the start up screen when it was black and bright. You may have to restart the phone many times to make sure.
Sony screen looks very nice but always have the bright pixel problem. I encountered the same thing when I purchased the first Sony Xperia S. Always got these with Japanese phone.

Well, I thought that my XZ had one dead pixel, but after closer examination, I'm sure it's a screen protector manufacturing flaw. When you look at it straight farward it looks like a black pixel, but when you look at an angle, that the light reflects from the surface this dot starts to shine. It' s like a piece of glitter embeded in screen protector :/

"Normal"
are you kidding me?
wtf is with the tech world now...
Just took my Z back to cpw. New one will be delivered on Tuesday. Fingers crossed for no dead pixels! !
What I did notice though is that my first 3 Z's had no seals on the boxes. Yesterday cpw had some more that were factory sealed. Must be a different batch. The Z is sellung like hotcakes as they were out of stock today.
Dead pixels is a trivial matter and most people wouldnt even notice. But they stand out like a saw thumb to me and irritate the hell out of me.
To check... use dull brightess, turn off adaptive lighting and useba black image

I know I am to be taken with a grain of salt, I am a corporate store technician and talked to our HTC rep today. She is saying that Sprint decided to skip 4.2.2 and go right to 4.3 with its upgrade to the HTC One. I also got to look at the red version today as well and I am going to see about trading my black one for the red. She did not give any timeframe of when the 4.3 update will come out.

They only had a mockup for me to look at so unfortunately not, but the red is like an ironman red it looks really good. I will have the actual units tomorrow in inventory we will be putting one under glass to show the color so I will play more with it then and see what the finished product looks like.

In certain conditions, some reds look orange. Look at the top of the photo of the Red One. It's bright orange.
EDIT: Just realized the irony of my pictures.

I think that's just overexposure. It may also be a combination of white balance and overexposure. It is common with any type of digital camera to have uncommon colors. One major reason is because of the digital white balance correction.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda premium
I don't know what you guys are say'n..That Phone is clearly pink....
The first picture is inaccurate. The second one is right.
If the problem is overexposure, then that means the tap to focus doesn't work very well. I always tap on my subject, yet I have several pictures where the reds look orange. I shouldn't have to mess around other than having to tap on my subject to get the right exposure etc.
EDIT: Whatever, it's OK.
The red One still looks sick, especially with the black accents.
I was just messing around man..The phone looks hot..But unless Sprint and HTC do something about the radio it's just another one..Thanks for the pics though.
That is because of the way the digital light meter reads the scene. Again, this is an issue that plagues even professional cameras both film and digital. This issue often crops up in difficult lighting situations with a lot of contrast. Hope this helps explain a little. Also the red one looks sweet!

If Sprint releases the Red HTC One with 4.2.2, we would already have it on ours. There's nothing different in those internals than what's on ours. They can't control the update to the device based on color. It will release with 4.1.2.
Just found about 8 dead pixels when testing with a black background. Now that I found them you know they will bother me lol. You guys may want to check for them. You can use dead pixel checker from the play store and set it to black. Look closely, the more noticeable ones are when multiple dead pixels are grouped together.

I seem to remember some Windows software for LCD screens that would "coax" dead pixels back to life by rapidly cycling the colors sent to them or something like that... Might want to see if such software exists for Android...

For now I will hold off, I do not feel like setting everything up again... I just went through the process of replacing it a few months ago and it was so annoying, they messed up 2 times and it took 3 times to get me the right device and ship it to the right house... I will give it a few weeks and call and see if I can just go to a repair place and have them toss a new screen in it or replace it on the spot. I would like to know if anyone else is having this issue so I can know if it is even wroth fixing... if more people have this issue the chances are the replacement screen will too.

I have droidwall installed, and I installed dead pixel checker. First of all, I'm curious as to why the app needs full network access if all it's doing is displaying full color screens one after another. Droidwall did catch it trying to send off 4 packets to some ip address.
No dead pixels that I could detect while using the app, there were some narrow vertical lines that looked a bit off but I think that's because I have a Ghost Armor screen protector on, and those are from the 'glue' or whatever keeps the screen protector adhered to the Gorilla Glass.
I have one dead pixel right, top corrner
I finally broke down and downloaded one of the pixel check apps off of the play store. I can't remember the name of it because once I was done I uninstalled it. Anyway, I'm good. Seeing this thread tempted me to damn much not to try it out.

There is a few software and physical ways of sorting these but it’s not guaranteed plus it should be covered under your warranty.
My first device had > 14 damaged pixels, 4 of them would show even on lower brightness levels. My new device has a few too - but I can't see them under normal conditions. Found them via magnifying glass (black screen, max brightness)... Don't do that - you will probably find some
