[Q] how to turn an exact page by FBreader? - Nook Touch Themes and Apps

Hi, everyone here
My question is very simple, how to turn an exact page by FBreader? I found it very difficult to turn to an exact page by only slide the page -scroll-bar with fingers, since I m reading a book with over 1000 pages.
I installed a Windows version FBreader, and found the pager box on the toolbar. But where is the same box on my mobile devices, or how to make it appear?

Are there problems with the XDA developers home page ?

Hello,
Since several days I've been reading on the forums on how to upgrade my Qtek9090.
Now I want to get busy on it, but none of the links on the home page under the "software and tools" section work for me: they open a blank page, indicating "done" at the left bottom corner.
I've tried on different PC's and at different locations (home/work), but I can't eg. open the pages for ROMkitchen...
Is this a known issue or is it just me ;o)
Thanks,
Mario

Internet Explorer to support touch scrolling ?

Imagine how easy it would be if IE in Windows mobile supported scrolling ( horizontal and vertical ) using a finger ( Touch ) ? Where do we raise this request with Microsoft ?
dude, it certain phones already have it, namely, the kaiser who's forum you posted in
Bravo could you tell me how that works? on my Kaiser if I scroll in IE by dragging top to bottom (and vice versa) all I get is highlighted text.
Try using your finger rather than using the stylus.
Was using my finger the first time, dragging from top of the middle of the screen to the bottom. Using T-Mob Vario III out of the box ROM. Must be a duff one

No bravo , it doesn't work good in IE . Open Google Map do some finger scrolling then compare to IE and you will know what I mean.
Mine does, using HTC Rom.
I think HTC calls it TouchFLO, you can use your finger. Just press firmly. It will only highlight text if you touch it like a girly-man.

You are ALL NOT paying attention , See what you can do in GoogleMaps or Iphone's Safari and you will understand.
FLO Touch scrolls only horiz. or vertical at a time. With Safari your finger grabs the map and moves in all directions.

Umm, it will only scroll up and down if the page only needs to go up and down. If you go to a page that needs to span more than the width, then it does go left/right.
YOU are the one not listening. TouchFLO on Kaiser does go in any direction when it makes sense to.
You may have your IE set to only show things in one column, in which case it forces the page to fit in only one screen width.
And if you think Pocket IE works like Safari, your'e mistaken. I suggest you do a search on this forum or HoFo for "Browser Bible" and you will find a comprehensive comparison of the browsers available for WM6. And you will then get to see which ones act most like Safari.
OK i agree there is some stickness in IE with touch flo. But the same thing in Google Maps is 10 times smoother.
Not a perfect solution, but:
Try the AddOn MultiIE.

You will find a function called screen drag...I think this will fit your suggestion...
I use this function for 2 years now on my wizard and it workes like a charm...;-)
I suggest you look into Opera Mini.

Touch Ebook Reader

Anybody know of an ebook reader for Windows Mobile 6.1 that you can scroll with a touch interface, like how Opera pages down on a web page?
Altough MobiPocket Reader hasn't finger scrolling feature, but it has feature of auto-scrolling,so you don't need to do anything while reading.
All reader
The soft Allreader+ do it and even in full screen mode
Ok - thanks for the suggestions - I've tried the Allsoft+ reader, and mobipocket.
Both have some nice features, but neither one lets you flick your finger to slide pages up and down like Opera works, or like the iPhone works with various pages. Allsoft+ has some great features, but not ones I'd be willing to pay that much money for when Haali Reader provides them for free.
I've been a long time Haali Reader user -- but unfortunately the AT&T Fuze doesn't have a scroll wheel, and the DPAD is kind of awkward to use for hours of reading. I may go with Mobipocket (free), and see if I can get used to tapping the screen to advance the page, unless somebody knows of another one.
Which Mobipocket reader version do you use? They haven't released one for WM6.1.

I am using v5.3 build582 on my Smartphones and that's working also on TP. For PPC I think is the same version(I have deleted my installcab accidentialy). It was working perfectly(till hardreset from different purposes).
I use mobipocket, and it's got a lot of bugs on the Fuze, mainly with pagination (it had problems with my previous device, but it's much worse with the fuze). I use GScroll, and it works nicely to scroll pages. If you just scratch downward on the bottom pad, you go forward a page. If you scratch upward, you either go back 1 page, or like 50, which is annoying as crap. Bookmarking your last page read is very important. Whenever your turn off the device, or close and re-open the application, for whatever reason, mobipocket has trouble figuring out what the previous page is. It's very easy to accidentally scratch the bottom pad upward, and then you'll shoot backwards anywhere from 10-50 pages. If you look at the progress bar, it'll say you just went back a page, but that's not so. Mobipocket has a lot of problem with pagination anyway, but this is really annoying.
I haven't tried ereader yet, but it does a much better job of pagination, in my opinion (it's nice to know how many pages you've read, and how many are left-you're pretty much in the dark with mobi). The bummer with ereader is that it doesn't have a full screen mode (unless it's been updated). With the small screen of the fuze, full-screen is important. It also looks a helluva lot better.
Edit: I should add, you can also use the d-pad to go forward and backward, but it's not as cool as using GScroll, and it doesn't alleviate the annoying pagination problems.
Yes,you're right. The last page made me angry all the time. Anyway on Smartphone it is everything correct and I have no alternative against. Maybe the SP version on PPC would work better, just try.
would very much like a decent ebook reader
mobipocket is impossible on touch HD
it is a bit odd that the ebook software market seems so undeveloped
maybe just not many people read books!?!
cheers
Does Gscroll work on the HD? I'd at least demo it (mobilesrc.com)-it's only live 5 min, but you'll see if you can scroll forward with it.
You can touch the page in Mobipocket to change pages...it's in the options.
yea a good ebook reader with finger swipe scrolling and zoom would be great.
uBook and Mobipocket both support touch scrolling, but not swiping. You just touch the screen and it changes the page. Both are excellent readers, but uBook requires a lot of messing around with it's options.
allreader +
allreader+ with gscroll is the best team
there is even a zoom
and more, you can switch from black text on white paper to white text on black paper and it's a bless when I read at night

The only problem with tapping the screen to turn pages is that (at least with mobi) you usually have to tap a part of the screen where there are no words, otherwise you bring up the pop-up menu or you accidentally highlight text. If you hit a page with no paragraph breaks, it gets a little tricky and is annoying. Gscroll is totally the way to go.
any news of a new touch ebook reader (like this here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1N-QsuGD4a4 ) Mobipocket isn't so good on an Windows Mobile phone without d-pad....
New touch program for reading ebooks
Hi,
I have just released a program that does what you want. See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4894085.
Let me know how you get on.
Cheers,
Jim
Check out iSilo. you can scroll up and down sliding the finger over the screen. Not sure if that is what you want...
I have read many books this year on Allreader+ and I love it. The night theme is great, the autoscroll is also great, and tap to change pages is much nicer than having to flick across the screen. Honestly the less effort to change pages, the better. You have to change pages a lot when reading on a small screen.
The only thing that Allreader+ lacks that I really wish it had is quick inline text editing for all those pesky errors from OCR. I could correct it and then next time I read the book it would be right.
Yeah Allreader+ was my favourite ebook reader until i found someone developed a speed reading app in the XDA Dev and hacking section.
The app is called wordstreamer and its all i use now to read on my pro!

Text Message Searching

Yea so I know that from the "All Messages" screen you can type and search for words that are in really recent text messages; but lets say for example, my friend Alex texted me the Course Number of a class two months ago; its really annoying to keep having to press "Older Messages" over and over to get to that message. So here are my questions:
1. Are there any programs that either
a. Allow you to search the the ENTIRE history of conversations with a contact
b. Show more than [5? I think is the current amount] back&forths per page
c. Yea A & B is all I can think of for now lol
but please...assist.
Hi,
who said that in all messeges screen if we do search then it will search only from the recent messeges. No thats not the case it looks the entire messages. After typing the search word that you are looking for in all mesages screen wait for sometime to let screen populates the search results
My phone surely doesn't. at first i couldnt search correctly becase of the TouchPal keyboard (which I absoutely love love love - shameless plug) but I switched to the other regular keyboards just to search and it certainly does not search through every message ever. It only searches recent and subject titles. Are we both talkin about the touch diamond? (I do have the verizon version if that has anything to do with it)

Using normal google search (not mobile) from Opera

Hey guys,
When I use the search bar from the main Internet screen (or search from within Opera), it does a Google mobile search.
I find this pretty annoying, since clicking the results gets them reformatted by Google...but the TD2's screen is a high enough resolution to display most sites normally.
EDIT: Fixed! This was actually a setting in iGoogle. At the bottom of a search page, click "Settings", then set "Reformat pages for your mobile" to "No"
