Hi,
Does anyone know how to access NFS shares using stock FW 12.0.A.1.257? It seems most of the file managers supports only Samba (CIFS) but not NFS.... maybe a kernel module is missing for the stock FW?

I currently pay for a VPN service called Hide My Ass and it works nicely on my computer. I can use it on my Bionic but I would like to use OpenVPN. I installed from the Market the two OpenVPN Settings and Installer and copied the config files to the SD card. I found it here http://hidemyass.com/vpn-config/ Now for some reason when I try to log in to the VPN it won't connect. If anyone has any input on how to make this work I would appreciate it.
Thanks.
You need a tun.ko kernel module, and based on the word kernel and the locked bootloader I don't even know if that module would even help in any way.
I think this kernel has tun built in... I use vpnc all the time and it needs one too.

OpenVPN will not work with OpenVPN and OpenVPN settings because there is no tun.ko kernel module. Tried this myself and nope, it's not going to work. There might be a way if there is a talented dev out there. I know that the boot has to be signed but I don't know about kernel modules. Beyond the module itself will the kernel even allow you to start a module anyway?
Hi there,
I'm a student and need to use VPN on my Nook HD+ to get access to the exclusive resources of the university like electronic library, etc. The university VPN service uses IPSec, IPSEC TCP/UDP with Xauth method, and it has a group name and group secret. I've searched the playstore and the only two clients which support this feature are VPNC widget and openVPN, but they both have issues I cannot solve. VPNC widget could not start properly and reports error saying that my TUN is not installed properly, so I downloaded tun.ko installer to install the tun according to my android OS and kernel versions, but the installer says the file downloaded is not compatible. The openVPN requires CA certificate for the IPSEC TCP/UDP feature, which I don't know how to set up (sorry for the novice I've been). Could anyone who knows how to resolve the VPN issue please share some insights, thank you very much!

First, are you rooted? Have you enabled 'unknown sources?" Running CM or stock?
Second, there was a discussion of VPN elsewhere, try searching, it may help.
The reason VPN doesn't work, with the exception of PPTP, is because it doesn't have tunnel module. That mean the tun.ko need to be compile for the Nook HD+ and put it on the device(symbolic link to the right directory). The module may still need to be manually loaded every boot, idk.

Thanks mate, really appreciate your help.
I'm running CM10 build 121230, so I guess it's rooted. I'll try to find that thread, thanks.

Thanks for your reply.
the database of DroidVPN has a tun.ko file for 4.1.2 and kernel 3.0.31,just as mine, but it's for Nook HD, not HD+. Is it tedious to compile a tun file? do you think I can do it myself?
Hi,
Is there cifs module there for S3 mini?
If there is no CIFS module for S3 Mini, does anybody know, how I can mount a windows share in a local network?
thanks

Yes, it's working, but I need to run shellscript via Tasker, which mounts a local samba share, then copy there my backups and finally unmount. I don't know how ES file explorer knows this, I think it has an own CIFS module.
Ok, now I understand.
I'm using for such procedure FolderSync / available at market as lite version as well, so you can test it.
I personally do not use it in combination with Tasker but reffering to FolderSync description, such combination should work well

Thanks, it is working well. But I hope, a kernel with cifs module will be avaible in the future.
I'm looking for a tun.ko module for the stock kernel, so I can use DroidVPN. Does anyone know where I can find this module? Or can one of the devs around here compile one for us?
Using OpenVPN Settings and it doesn't requires additional tun.ko. Is says "TUN device is at /dev/tun" and works fine! Just need to install OpenVPN binary using OpenVPN Installer.
Maybe you should just make some configurations?
Ah, apparently it's baked into the kernel, so we don't need a module.
I read a little about CIFS/NFS on Android. Can someone help me and give, compile, say how to compile the required modules for ICS. I found for Froyo only.
I'm using the stock v30B with Diana kernel. Please help.
cifs or nfs.
