I think I've seen in other threads that some people have managed to activate AT&T Navigator on the Fuze. When I went to Programs\AT&T GPS\Get AT&T Navigator, it opened Opera to a page that told me my device was not recognized, and none of the links on that page led to one that mentioned the Fuze.
If you managed to activate AT&T Navigator, how did you manage to do it? TIA.
When I got my Fuze, they added the AT&T Navigator trial to my device, not sure maybe they only allow certain phones to download the software.
Never mind. The mods I had made to let Opera display full web sites instead of mobile versions apparently fooled the TeleNav software. I used PIE on the URL passed to Opera and downloaded the AT&T Navigator .cab file with no problem.
So is this At&t Navigator free?
Or is it just a free trial/Demo?
Also, is it free to use? as long as i have the unlimited internet package thats standard for the fuze? Is it better than Google Maps Mobile?
It's a 30 day trial and then it's $10 a month. Very good though...

As noted, $10/month after the 30-day free trial, or you can cancel and pay on a day-at-a-time basis for $4/day, if you only use it infrequently.
It's different from Google maps. It's like a car GPS unit, giving you voice prompts when you need to turn, and such. I haven't used it yet; I'm still waiting for the delivery of my windshield mount for the phone, which should come in the next day or two.
I would just buy On Course Navigator 8 for $125, it has all og the US & Canada and there is no subscription fee. That's equal to one year of AT&T Nav.

You can get it cheaper if you don't need a lot of storage on your microSD card; the version that comes on a 2GB card (leaves you a couple hundred MB free, I think) is only $65. (Unfortunately, you have to run it from the card they supply, you can't copy it to your own card, which is a dealbreaker for me. I already have an 8GB card that I bought for under $25, and buying their 8GB card with OCN8 on it costs $40 more than the 2GB-card version; ain't gonna happen.)
I must say, though, that all the reviews I've seen of OCN8 make it look very attractive, and if someone had a way of copying it from the 2GB card to my 8GB card, I'd almost certainly buy it.
This workaround doesn't work...
I tried opening the url in PIE and it still doesn't recognize my device. I am using ROMeOS. Any suggestions on how to download Telenav Navigator?
Thanks in advance,
Brian
Well I emailed Telenav to find out how to download...
their software specifically for the FUZE and their Support responded with this:
"Support is not made aware of potential future versions of TeleNav until the time of the versions' releases. Unfortunately, I do not have any answer for you as to whether or not we will be developing TeleNav for that or any other specific model of phone."
Too funny. I guess I will be canceling Telenav service soon since even they don't seem able to tell me how to download the Fuze version.
Try putting this url into PIE. It worked for me.

finally figured out how to add addresses and look up businesses on the web and synchronize them to my navigator's "Favorites". If anyone is interested here is the link: http://my.telenav.com
ive got the telenav and attnav versions that both of ya need. hit me up
I recently got a Touch Diamond and am using it without the data plan. I know this has been asked a bunch but I have yet to find a good definitive answer. What is the best way to get GPS without using the data plan?
I understand that TomTom and Garmin are probably the best ways to go, but I would like to do this as cheap as possible as I'm a grad student (therefore not a whole lot of disposable income) and likely won't be using it a ton (therefore can't justify spending much money).
Are there any good free (or very cheap) applications that would work with the internal GPS and give turn-by-turn directions without using data minutes?
If not, what do you guys think about TomTom Navigator 6? How out-of-date are the maps since Navigator 7 is out? I can get the Navigator 6 CD for about $30. Would this be a good route to go? Can you install Navigator 6 from the CD to the Diamond?
Any input would be welcome.
Thanks!!!
Where is the 3G version for the Nook Color? I would have considered it if this were available.
Why do you want a 3g version and pay a monthly fee to go only when u can just tether it to you phoned go online

Yep I just use free tethering. Why would you want a contract on this device?
I don't get it either. There is so much free WiFi and the ability to tether to a phone, I don't know why people want to pay $10-30 a month just to have it built in. I guess if it was provided for free by B&N we would jump at it, but considering how "hackable" Android is, they would open themselves to HUGE data charges.

I agree - it comes with pandora and a web browser, that would be suicide. Even their shop is more data intensive. Unless they had a way to make sure there was data only in shop?

There is a Nook version like that but some inconsiderate marketing manager out there slapped a 600 dollar price to it and named it after the Korean space program
The original nook has free 3G through AT&T and does not require any contract. It's nice to be able to buy a book in areas that don't have wifi.
That being said browsing the store, buying books, and updating the firmware is about all that can be done over 3G. It can't be used for web browsing which is wifi only, so maybe that's why it's free
I'm not sure they are going to 3g units anymore. When I'm on the road, the unit updates itself and will download books. Today I downloaded a couple of free books while going down the road. Not only were the books free but bn would have to pay for 3g time. I just wonder if the economics are there to continue 3g for free.
Woody
I don't get this one at all. There are plenty of tablets with 3g connectivity, and oh by the way, they all cost 2-3 times as much.
I don't need cellular access on my ereader/tablet, and I'm more than willing to take the 350 in savings to avoid it.
Has anyone here been, or know someone that has been caught illegally tethering by sprint? If so what was your/their experience with it?what were the repercussions?
I've been moving state to state through the last month and I've kinda abused my tethering powers to Netflix from my laptop since my internet hasn't been hooked up at my new house yet. 27 Gigs later I'm worried sprint might catch it.

I have used 25 gigs streaming Netflix on my phone in one night, I don't think 27 gigs is excessive.
I haven't ever "been caught" but it is not uncommon for me to go above 25gb in a month tethering. I have never had an issue with it, I wouldn't worry about it in your case.
I did about 54GBs two months ago with native tethering...no notice in the mail from Sprint.
Wow I guess the tethering "horror stories" I've heard are baseless
Sent from my HTC One_M8 using XDA Free mobile app
I used about 85 Gigs within a month constantly downloading movies and streaming and gaming all tethering stuff.... No problems here, actually got a props from a tech for breaking his record lol
Most the stories I've heard have to do with excessive roaming. Never heard of anybody getting in trouble for tethering.

The only person I've ever read of getting caught tethered their phone to their router for a family of 6. Usage included everyone steaming, playing XBOX Live games etc. I think you're safe and worst case I've read is a warning.
Sprint called me up once a couple years ago when I was tethering with a hacked Verizon PRL. Used about 5 gigs of roaming data. Never got anything for on network though.
One month I was tethering to my son's nabi, my PlayStation and a smart blu-ray player. They sent me a warning letter. When I called to protest about the questioning my so-called "unlimited" data plan they said I went over 100 gigs.
How about that I managed to hit 85 again
Jeebus! How?

Xbox live all the time lol! DoG H4mm3r on the 360!
The latest.... Erm yeah I think it's safe lol
Just another latest...
Hi. The Boy figures he has found a "get rich quick scheme" using smartphones (something to do with "applike" and reviewing apps). He's 13 and thinks that making $2 a day is the motherlode..... Anyway, he wants to multiply his earnings by using multiple phones to make the "big bucks".
I'm wondering if there is a way to get old smartphones for free somehow? Is there some Lifehacker that I haven't thought about? (I was thinking of going to hotel lost and found department and ask them if they have any phones to recycle). Any ideas, anyone?
