Ps3 and TV textures - Off-topic

First, I want to say hello to all xda members and developers! Now I will tell you my problem : I have a SyncMaster T27A300 samsung led tv , and a ps3 console. When I play on the samsung tv the textures are like set to very low , in my parents' room there's a led lg smart tv 200hz (I don't know the name) a pretty good one and there , the textures are like set to very high/max , anyway it's waaaaaay better than my samsung . And as an weird example I have a chinese tv , i really don't know the specs , only that's lcd and the name of the company is "Changhong" , anyway it looks like it's made in a garage ) and even there the textures are on high . On the samsung I tried every single settings every of them one by one , even game mode , anything but still every game is like a 2002 game. So how can this be explained? The lg 200hz one yes it HAS to be better , but the chinese one doesn't even have many settings (only contrast, brightness, saturation and clarity) and doesn't have "game mode" but still the textures are better ... I used on all the tvs, the same games , the same cables everything ..
So please help me how to make this samsung **** better or suggest a better tv in the 300-400 euros range . (the lg was about 400, the samsung about 350 or so and the chinese that owns the samsung about 150 or 200 ))) )
PS: The samsung has a function to update the firmware via usb , so maybe custom roms for it ? ))))
Thank You xda!

Quick solution, switch tv's. Problem solved.

[Q] Support for this phone...?

Stats wise this looks like a bang for the buck. I am considering buying this phone. I wanted to know whether the Chipset this phone has will continue to get support. Also wanted to know whether this phone can play Full HD videos. Other than that can this phone play HD Games? Is there any hope that this phone will get further version upgrades? Is it possible to install JellyBean oficially without having to root?
Thanks a lot!

There is a rumor that it will get 4.2, and stops there. We have official JB, no need to root. There is some lag on full HD, but do you need full HD on 4" screen really? I am not game player, about games you will need to wait for somebody else to answer you.

This phone is pretty good, but not good enough if compared with the more recent ones.. I mean if you want more Battery Life, Gaming Performance and more (future) Official updates or Dev support then you can opt for better, more popular Mid-Range phones (according to your budget)...
But still this phone is pretty good, better than Galaxy R and closely related to the all famous S2!
And yes two more things:
- I never tried playing 1080p videos, so I don't know whether it will work or not.. but I have a lot of 720p videos (and movies) - and they all have lag free playback on the stock video player... The only 720p video that lags for me is the default Samsung Sample Video :silly:
- You can play most of the games on this phones, but most high end games or too resource demanding 3D games won't play well on Highest settings...
I was an iPhone user before and this is my first Android phone.. but yeah this is still a pretty good phone, but there are better phones (maybe at same cost)..
Take a look at this thread too.. I gave my review on S3 Mini vs SGSA on that thread...

Some of those points are really foolish sorry...For example, the HSDPA speed is the same and it doesn't have HSPA+...our phone supports microSDHC too(someone tried microSDXC and it worked too...weird)...the original s3 mini hasn't NFC,there is a I8190N version with that.
Also,I don't think it will get Key Lime Pie if the Note,S2 and ours will not get it just because it is newer.Remember the S plus case(gigngerbread as the original S)
Not trying to flame, just correcting you.
In conclusion if solid multitasking isn't your thing,at my opinion S advance makes it because it has better front camera and an ambient light sensor. Also I like the design more...because it's smaller S3 mini doesn't look as good the S3.I saw them both.
You can't play 1080p videos with the stock video player. At heavy games the single core Mali says its word.
If you want a better phone just buy the S2.Better screen, ram and processor. Also the developement support is waay greater because of a biiiig user base.In my country, the difference is just like 25 euros.
I might switch to the S2 too...

well yeah of course, you're right... even I hate the shape both S3 and S3 mini has.. in my opinion, S2 and our phone has a better and solid look and feel...

Thanks a lot for your input guys! :good: I am considering some other phones like Galaxy Note N-7000 and Sony Xperia L.
The last thing I wanna know is whether the sound output is actually low as some reviewers are saying.
Thanks again!

Galaxy Camera to a Gaming Console?

Hallo everyone
sorry if it's in a wrong section
section havent made much posts in xda but have been long time in here
Wanted to hear your thoughts about idea that I have.
I have an Galaxy Camera(first model) that has a broken lens and a sensor.I would fix it but cant find a sensor for that camera.found a lens part but no sensor.
So it just sits there and then came an ide to make it a console for playing different emulators and android games on my TV.
My ideas so far are:
To use an some kind lancher to costumise to be like some kind of an console.
Dissembeling and building it in to a enclosure of some kind.
Mybe overclocing cpu and gpu for gaming boost and using an fan and cooling system to keep it all cool and stable.
Using a otg cable for a xbox 360 wiered controller (ps3 wireless would be better but I dont own one) and attaching a charger to a cable (no need for a battery or maybe leaving it in to play games without a charger)
And connecting it to a TV with micro hdmi to hdmi.
At this point its only an idea and dont really know if it would work like I plan.
If you guys have any thoughts then please share

[Advices] My 70yo Father Needs a smartphone.

Hi everybody !
This is not really an issue but i need advices for my father which wanted a smartphone.
He is 70+ yo and a tech fan (he has mount his computer, learn html/css last year, learnt photoshop and video making...) but he never has a smartphone.
So last year when i bought my HTC one A9, I give him my old HTC Desire 610 but, as you can imagine, it's a bad screen quality, luminosity is bad too and the battery sucks and he don't like to use it because of this defaults.
So my father want now to buy himself a smartphone for internet browsing, email reading, videos watching and obviously to phone. But because of his bad knowledge of smartphones, thanks to adds everywhere and because of my brothers/sister who have iphone, he want one too.
Can you give me advices to help him choosing a great smartphone which is :
Not too expensive
Great quality build
Great screen with great luminosity levels and readable everywhere
Great battery (he hates charge it everyday)
Not too big but readable for a 70+ person (he has good eyes but he can't obviously read like a 20yo lol), i thik 5" or 5"2 is great for him
Available in Europe (or in France if possible !)
Obviously, because it's a 70+ he won't play on it, or light games like poker or card games, so don't tell me "OP3 T is great lmao"
Thanks in advance and I'm sorry for my bad english, I'm sure it's full of mistakes ^^
Galaxy J5 (2015):
-the 720P amoled display is very bright
-it has Outdoors mode in the quicksettings if he needs even more brightness, contrast and saturation (my favourite feature of this phone)
-is very fast for a mid range phone
-is cheap
-it has a lot of ROMs: Note 7, CM12.1, CM13, CM14.1, Miui 8 (needs workarounds bc it has a few major bugs, but is usable) and Xperia
-is on the Nougat OTA list
-if you only browse the internet, you dont have to charge it everyday
-5" screen
-it has OTG support
-and it has a front facing flash.
Or Oukitel K10000, bc it has a 10000mAh battery.
I dont know how well it runs, or how bright the display is.
I've never used one.

120hz refresh rate like the Razer Phone, possible with driver mod?

I don't know if you guys saw the new Phone by Razer, but it's one of the first US launched phone with a 120hz screen. I personally tried a 100hz computer monitor and nothing beats the experience it gives (not even the resolution). Since this phone use the Snapdragon 835 like our phone. It is possible to mod the kernel, ROM and/or driver to put a higher refresh rate? At least 75hz or 90hz if our panel doesn't support 120hz ? Technical peoples, fell free to join the conversation to explain why it's/it's not possible !
it's a 60hz panel
^enuff said
Then i want QHD as well
Go take your average PC monitor and try doubling the refresh rate from 60-120Hz and then come back to us with the result.
Heck, most won't even let you go to 75Hz, let alone 120.

go buy a razer phone if you want a 120hz phone dude com on
..wait for the OP 5T+C, will launch 3 month after 5T, same specs, but 120 Hz, and 50$ more expensive...jjjjjjj

On a monitor you can use custom resolution utility to overclock certain displays over hdmi, the max you'll get is 75Hz which does make a visual difference for gaming..
However on a phone ? I really don't know..
There's a relative chance that if it was possible it could maybe help with the jelly effect as it would allow more frames to come through.
Personally I don't think it's possible but I couldn't be 100% and if you damaged your screen then your phone is useless.
120Hz definitely not.
If the logistics of how CRU works on a computer can be translated to a mobile device then it could potentially be done at 75Hz although I'm not sure who would want to put their device up to test it
Not even possible on amoled
I want front speakers.... maybe the fingerprint reader can be modded to act as a speaker?
I think people have been really hard and sarcastic over genuinely question .. isn't this a forum to help people to understand or tweak their phone
