Hi everyone,
I'm looking for a Rom with CM/AOKP/PA. The only thing stopping me is what the camera will be like as I like having the HDR option on the sense 5 camera app.
Would someone be able to recommend me a Rom to use and/or provide links to them? As long as the camera is good and the Rom is stable I'm happy.
Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure all AOSP ROM's have HDR.
CM 10.1 is the most basic.
PAC Roms are combos of ParanoidAndroid, AOKP and Cyanogenmod. They are the most customizable.
I personally haven't run many AOSP ROM's yet.

Greetings!
My friend asked me if I could speed up his incredible S, and I told him that I could try and install a new rom on it.
However, I don´t know a thing about Incredible S roms. I am looking for a stable and fast rom, he is an android noob
so it has to have little to no bugs. Also ICS or JB would be good.
I don´t know if MIUI is available for this phone, but if so, is it fast and bug free? How about AOKP or CM9/10?
Which roms would you guys recommend, I´d like to try some non-sense

MIUI works great on this For AOKP I would try IceCold. CM9/CM10 are still full of bugs here but if you want you can have a look at them also. I would recommend CodeNameAndroid, as it has got the coolest tweaks
I'd recommend you to give Paranoid Android a try.
Except for some kernel related stuff, there are no major issues, and yes - it is responsive. And with some undervolting I get really good battery life out of it as well, even though I overclock.

"little to no bugs"
Well, CyanogenMod 7, MIUI or Sense-ROM's seems to be your options in that case.
Pretty much every AOSP/AOKP ROM with ICS/JB will have the same bugs since the current kernels that are used for them are hacked to work... so if he doesn't want any bugs he should stay away from ICS/JB ROM's that are AOSP/AOKP - for now at least, but if it doesn't matter that much if some stuff isn't working properly and so on: go for Paranoid Android or Codename android.

How about the Venom ViperVIVO?
As I remember, you and markj talked about it once or twice.
The least buggy rom I use has to be IceColdSandwich

ViperVIVO is not out for public yet, still beta's.
But from what I've heard, it seems to be worth a try when it is released

Well, it's a Sense ROM And it's not out for public yet but I tried it and if everything works, it's gonna be awesome as candy!
Is the MIUI rom functional and without bugs? MMS and all that shizzle working? Which version is the best, and is it 2.3 or 4.0?
Is MIUI completely bug free? Is it 2.3 or ICS that it is built on?

Miui gingerbread was based off CM7 so it didn't have many problems
Miui ICS is based off HTC's ICS ruu so there are not many problems either. Some problems from the chinese miui release were fixed by spongychicken. His rom is in the dev section, have a look
Codename android has my vote. It is a great JB ROM. however, it does have a few bugs.

Hey guys, I know this is probably a dumb question. But it is better to say oh well than what if.
Can i have cyanogenmod 10.1 and badseed kernel running together? I have a Sprint HTC One I have S-Off and write protection disabled fully rooted.
No. CM is AOSP and badseed is made for sense roms. With CM or any AOSP based roms you have to use an AOSP based kernel.

Well, they do exist or we couldn't run AOSP ROMs on our devices. No dev has made a flashable zip of thier AOSP kernel available for our device.
Sorry, I thought custom/separate kernel was implied.
Thank you!
Thank you guys so much, I just had to make sure i had that cleared up. This community is the best.
As in title, i'm looking for the most stable rom around based on jelly bean and bug-free.
i need something goood, with everything working out-of-the-box; nothing aesthetically special, even a pure google style would be okay (indeed, it'd be much better).
thanks in advance for your kind help!

CM10.1.3 recent RC build (pawitp's thread). Battery life maybe won't be great, but the build is excellent.
Meanwhile CM10.2 works for some people perfectly well (like for myself), but for some others not. It is even faster and gives about double battery life than the CM10.1x
Check threads by the developer pawitp
(if you flash CM10x, pay attention to flash compatible gapps for that android(x) version right after the CM build, it isn't mentioned in the first post anymore for some reson)
thanks for your clear answer, when i'll be ready to change rom i'll follow your suggestions!
Meanwhile, i'd really like to get s3\s4 icons on my gingerbread value pack...can you suggest me a mod for this purpose? i digged through tens of pages here in xda but i didn't find anything for my firmware

There's always launchers and icon packs for them...
As far as I'm aware there's no S3/S4 icon pack for stock roms and the stock launcher alone, however there is a complete S3 theme (it goes beyond the icons and themed everything else) for two GB custom roms out there..

Hello everyone,

The best thing would be to check it for yourself. Every phone is different, something that behaves well here could work different on your device.
Thanks krzysiekx,
I´ve already tried those three ROM and could not find any differences regarding stability, that´s why i´m asking for other mentions in this thread. Maybe other user have had some differences in stability. But thank you for your answer anyway... :good:

I had CM 10.x on Semaphore 2.7 kernel when I first bought my phone and it was great, everything was smooth and I had no battery problems. Now I installed CM 10.2 last RC version and it was quite battery consuming and laggy on my SGS
No Rom is fully SD stable but i suggest cm10.1 (nearly perfect for me)

Boys, and why don't you like "I scream send witch?"
Indeed i was both curious for the newest versions of android and for the most stable (AND light) rom around...i refuse to do one step forward if i have to stop at ICS, it doesn't give me more than what i got on GB
@ everybody: i searched for s3\s4 icons packs but i didn't find anything relevant. now i'm using a deodexed rom based on 2.3.6 value pack...links would be muc appreciated
So I want to slide to AOSP ROM already.. but the list is too long and my time is too short..
Could any one please report and share some of your experience with the AOSP ROMs?
Which is the most stable? and is it ready for daily use?
Compare it to the stock..
I don't care about features / android version or anything else.. just AOSP and most stable..
Your help would be extra appreciated.
Jordan.
Pabx is the only aosp. The others are based on Cm.
It's also incredibly stable & definitely recommended

Thank you for that recommending!
Apologies for confusing I guess I can't tell the difference between AOSP and CM (and others if there are more..)
I meant a clean version of the Android with nothing related to Sony.. no UI, no touchwiz and no sense..
Clean like the nexus..
With the quick settings on the notification bar..
Any kinds of those..
Hope thats more clear..

would you say CM and Pabx AOSP are around the same smoothness?
Personally I prefer the work that pabx has done on his aosp kernel, than what free xperia have done with CM one.
CM is nice for all the extra bits, but aosp is stripped back and basic and a chunk more responsive. I put a lightly modified version of his kernel in his thread that allows undervolting, so it's also fairly decent battery wise.
Best to try all the major ones out and see which you prefer.
FWIW sonys stock roms (Once you take out the usual extra bloat apps) are pretty close to aosp roms, they don't tend to change massive amounts from the qualcomm code.
Out of the major oems I'd say they run closest to the true android experience.
Like fards I'd recommend Pabx 4.3 ROM though it is quite bone stock AOSP. A stable CM ROM that is still quite light would be CyanX 7.0. I use it personally as my daily driver. Pretty stable and fast with good battery.

Member since 2011 and you still don't understand "No questions in General section"???
Thank you all for recommending..
And Rashkae, sorry if it ain't in the right place, I found it more suitable to General as a discussion and not as "How do I..." question..
The forum didn't have any discuss for ROMs and opinions of each so I thought why not raise it up myself..

I love AOSP and paired with Gravity Box(xposed) it gets all the extra bits of CM.
But i still give CM based ROMs an upper hand due to features like per app dpi, PA pie, general all in one packaging and still maintaining performance.
Here are a few ROMs I like
Carbon - Loads of features, extremely fast and battery friendly(except for the latest version)
Mokee - Smooth, all usefull features.
CyanX - Stable and basic CM features and a custom kernel.
PAC - Has all the features u could think of, though a bit buggy.
Jelly bam- True all in one ROM just like PAC
Commotio/Vanir - The best ROM i've tried till now, Sooo fast, stable and great devs
A few more that I've tried : Asylum , CM 10.2 , AOKP, etc ( select yuga in device)
YouTube these ROM (check Nexus 4 videos) before you try them it has the same features irrespective of the device.
Wow thats like a database for XZ
That's extremely helpful! Thank you so much

I'm getting the Nexus 6 from Verzion next week. I'm looking for recommendations for good 5.1 ROMs that can use VoLTE and is good for Verizon. I'm coming from a Galaxy S4 and have only been using TouchWiz ROMs, so I'm unfamiliar with the AOSP ROMs. How are the CM 12.1 Nightlies? Are there any other ROMs I should try besides that?
try any rom, they are all good. but.. stay away from cm!

I used to use CM on my DROID RAZR HD and I loved it.
Numero uno rom in my opinion: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=3148214
ive been rocking cyanideL as my daily for two or more months now. mainly because it has the best nav bar editor (havent tried new one from bliss). was flashing different roms twice a week before that. thats if you are okay with cm based. other cm based roms with that navbar editor are exodus (the creator of the navbar editor in question) and fusion. thing about cm, be careful about encryption being forced, and compatability with some kernals.
if you go aosp, chroma is good, pure nexus is too. if you want stock based, i like N6Shamu, which has gravitybox as an installation option in the aroma installer. TraSmooth is stock based with a lot of optimizations, and some of the m preview stuff.
another option is the m preview stock based roms. jdx is an m preview stock based rom that is good at keeping up with those previews.
if you are on t mobile and need wifi/lte calling, there are only a handful that have ironed that all out.
