What i can tell for now is:
1) Reinstall SAMSUNG drivers
2) try other USB port
3) verify that you flash right ROM and your device is in download mode

How would I be able to tell if it's the right rom? I went on the samsung website and downloaded a stock rom for my brand of phone I couldn't tell what particular one because I don't know the pda id and what not. How would I be able to retrieve that without booting my phone? because I have a bootloop and I don't have access to my phone.

yes I tried to re install the drivers I downloaded a firmware for my brand and then did the one package thing on odin and it's still stuck... any ideas?

sorry, one question.. what stucks ? Odin or the phone in bootloop?
I mean, if you were successful with the download operation by Odin, but now the phone is in bootloop, you only have to start it in download mode (volume up + power button) and do a wipe data (or factory reset), and you'll solve.

[i9001] Problems while flashing stock FW

A friend of mine got a Samsung Galaxy S Plus and wanted to update its software via Kies.
He told me that the update just stopped at around 3% and it got frozen there for one hour. He then told me that he unplugged the phone and it wouldn't start (obviously). I tried to help him. I entered in his PC using Team Viewer and the first thing I wanted to do was to flash a stock firmware. He also told me he couldn't get in recovery mode. Only download and ramdump modes. I downloaded ODIN (used 3.04 and 1.82), the latest firmwares from the Samsung site and started the proccess (I explained him how to put the phone into download and when to connect it). We did that and started to flash the FW. It would check the MD5 and after that it's saying "Setup connection..." and stays there for 15 mins. After checking some threads i told him to get the SIM and the memory card out of the phone, to switch the USB port, to reinstall the drivers, even to get out the battery. Nothing worked.
After this I tried another method using Odin Multi Downloader. I followed the tutorial in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1648163 and it didn't work. It also got stuck at "Setup connection...". Here's the log if it helps.

you can retry KIES like this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1801138
or use AiresVE.ops , MultiLoader Odin v.4.43 and an official ROM try download from another source, as one person I I tried to help , finally found, that the AriesVE.ops was corrupted and that made it impossible to flash http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28794698&postcount=8
Apparently, your phone does not have a workable rom on it so you need to search for the correct firmware for your unit before you try again
the procedure should be
First remove battery and reinsert
1) "Select OPS" AriesVE.ops
2) Unzip/unrar the ROM you are flashing.
If it's a single .tar.md5 file, check the option "One Package" in Odin and then load the .tar.md5 file using the One Package button at the very bottom. Odin will load it and check the MD5 checksum. and should be over in ten minutes
If your ROM consists of several .smd files,
Select Boot_loader.tar under BOOT
Select Modem under PHONE
Select PDA under PDA
Select CSC under CSC .
Press Start, Flashing should take about 10 minutes
If it fails, than try again with protect ops unchecked
Thank you very much ! I did not think about Kies Recovery but I will try it. I will update my post in several hours.
PS: I'm sorry I didn't do a better search on the forum.

I tried to use Kies to repair the firmware but it didn't seem to work, and most importantly, I couldnt go into Recovery mode (the built-in recovery) as the program said. However I could remain into emergency mode or download mode (neither worked). It uploaded one bar to 100% then it would come to this: (see attach) . And it stood there a solid hour. Then he said that he will send it to Samsung for warranty, even if I wanted to play with it a bit more (trying custom roms). I'm so sorry this problem will remain unsolved.
Thank you very much for your help !

[Q] Bricked my Exhibit when trying to root! Please help

I had rooted my phone long back with ZergRush root. It had worked but I did not really install a recovery partition at the time. I was trying to upgrade my firmware to ICS today so I tried to boot into recovery thinking that I could not have rooted earlier without CWM. However I could not boot into recovery using either i)volume up button ii) volume up with home button iii)volume down with home. So I set out to install clockwork mod recovery. And here is where I got totally off track. I tried using odin to install cwm and had connected my phone to the laptop. However ODIN returned a fail several times after trying to install the cwm. So I wanted to restart my phone to try some other process. It is now saying "firmware upgrade fail! try using recovery mode" but I do not have a recovery mode!. In short, I seem to have bricked my phone. What do I do now?
Any help is greatly appreciated! This is the only phone that I have right now.

Use Odin to flash the stock image. Google xda wiki exhibit, and read carefully. Odin is more dangerous than recovery, i don't know how you flashed recovery in Odin, in the first place. I thing it has to be a tar.gz file. But just read and you will be fine

I am not able to boot into the download mode. As soon as I switch the phone on, the only screen which comes up is "firmware upgrade fail! Try using recovery mode"
Also, I was trying to use the wiki, but the files for the drivers are missing in the wiki. The dropbox link does not have anything in it.

Another thing was that initially when I was trying to enter the recovery mode, I used the second method used in one of the threads because this one would not work. I pulled the battery, connected the USB and then put in the battery again. Volume down+power was not working for me even then! But now that only gives me the firmware upgrade fail message.
Have I totally bricked it this time?

I doubt it its pretty hard to get a hard brick. You can always buy a download mode jig. I personally have one. Is it that you cant get into download is that the problem?
Also try to take out the battery, hold volume down and power and then insert the battery, that might work. Don't connect USB.

One more thing, the stock image file on the wiki thread is corrupt. The file archive is damaged, does anyone have the stock image for exhibit with them ? Thanks!

The phone does turn on but I do not get the download screen. Is that fixable without the dongle? I think that is what is causing me some trouble to flash back. ODIN is detecting the phone but is not able to change it.
Oh and I just realized that I am getting the phone ! Pc screen, which is apparently one which should be equal to the download screen.

Try using Odin a bunch of times in a row. If it doesn't work try it again on a different USB port.

OK that is a good sign and means you probably have the right drivers set up. If none of those methods can get you to download have worked you may need a jig. If you are good at soldering you can make one with a 301k resistor conecting the 4 and 5 pin. But that's pretty hard to get right. Im guessing that my idea of inserting the battery, didn't work
Edit: Odin cant do anything because it isn't in download mode, to answer the second part of the question.

OK yea this is no real problem, i fixed a Samsung captivate just like this. The phone must be in download mode. That is the only way it will work. I used a jig but maybe a key combination will work. The detected: 1 means it finds something plugged in but Odin cant "talk" to it because once again not in download. Just repeatedly try to get into download mode, you should get to a screen that says volume up to continue, volume down to cancel. The difference with a jig is it bypasses this screen and goes straight to download mode. Also maybe try to get to recovery, check out the wiki

Don't worry.. I think you are in a boot loop (It happens usually around here . I am using i9001. So i cannot tell you the exact solution of i9000 (A specific search would help). Anyways, the common solution is to flash a fresh rom via recovery. If it not helps then try to flash a stock rom via odin. Odin related problems have been discussed many times. just look for it. Above all don't lose hope and be patient..:good:
what fone please i9000? /1/3/m or anycall?
n odin crashing in stage what? pit mapping? installing param.lfs?
n try formatting system by mounting system first, n find other custom ROM to flash via cwm.
u can mount internal sd by mounting sdcard or sdext first n choose mount usb storage in cwm
n if u still can boot to download mode, find some latest samsung usb driver n install, n if odin doesnt recognize ur fone, use other usb port
but still, please give more option on ur fone version, build number if any n etc that necessary as i cant juz give any guide if ur using other than i9000

Boot into recovery and wipe cache, dalvck cache, system, and factory reset, do not wipe internal memory, and reflash ROM and gapps, that is what works for me

I guess you bricked your device. See this http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S/GT-I9001 a method is briefed there 'Un-brick the device'. Go through that
After that access the recovery(method to do so also explained in there). And then flash a new custom rom properly.
i did this

If you successfully flashed cwm via odin. switch off the phone. take out the battery and insert it back.
Connect your data cable to your phone(not to pc). Then press and hold volume up button and switch on the phone. When the samsung logo appears leave the button. When Samsung galaxy s plus logo appears, just tap the menu button(left touch button). You will get in to the CWM recovery. Then wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvic cache (in advanced menu). Then flash a new rom.

All ROMs are good. It depends your taste and experience. Custom ROMs can't be flashed via odin. If you have a rom zip file in your internal sd card, you can do the flashing. If not, Flash a stock rom via odin first. Then copy the custom rom zip file to the internal sd card. Switch off the phone. Boot in to recovery as explained earlier. Flash the rom selecting the copied zip. Before that don't forget to wipe data, wipe cache and dalvic cache.

Look at here. http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/
Ok fine. you can use that. or try a newer one
---------- Post added at 12:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:10 AM ----------
Or else you can save all these steps if you can find an External sd card.

Have you flashed gapps after the ROM.?? If yes, flash it again via cwm. Don't use same gapps for these two roms . one is 4.1.2 while other is 4.2.2. Only use the one which provide with the rom.

[Q] Unbrick help needed: Odin Download Mode only, with black screen

Hi there, let me say firstly that it is three days I'm browsing XDA and Co. consulting all the (unlucky) unfortunate issues of this kind, but I can't say if there is really one which fits with mine: nothing worked until now, but I want to give it a chance again by writing my own post with your help, hopefully it will aid in future:
I bricked my Galaxy Ace S5380 (GB 2.3.6.) by trying to update CWM from 3 to 5.0.2.6, but it aborted/failed, and when I later rebooted the device, it went black screen.
Since there, I can't enter back into emergency mode or download mode, or rebooting my phone.
So, I updated latest Samsung drivers, killed Kies apps on Win7 to free the way to Odin (Kies is no help: it detects the smartphone but it can't connect and update anything).
I can only enter Odin download mode, but with black screen on my device (no background light, just a deadly black screen as it was off).
The only way to make it detect by Odin on Windows 7 is:
1. pulling off battery and connect smartphone via USB cable to the PC
2. open Odin Multi Downloader (GT-S5830) vers. 4.42 (I also had a try with earlier versions) and prepare Cooper_v1.0.ops and One Package file for firmware (courtesy of Sammobile).
3. pressing at the same time (like a contortionist): volume Up + volume Down + Home button + power button, THEN pulling back the battery: at that point, Odin would detect it ("<1> Detected!!!"), but, nothing happens on Ace's screen (no yellow rectangle appears).
When I press start on Odin, it goes as it follows (and then it stucks there):
Download Start..
<0> Create File...
<1> StartThread Detected: 1
<2> StartThread Detected: 0
[..]
<1> setup connection...
I can plug it off and on again and again: it can still detect it until I press Power button to switch it off.
But it never goes beyond the 'setup connection' step.
I read somewhere that this (being stucked at 'setup connection') may be related when battery charge is too low (I have no replace), but I also read that some say that if you put it in download mode battery still can AC recharge (but there's no way to me to check it is true).
Overall, I wonder if it also does it in Odin download mode.
I tried to use ADB but it does not see the device ("error: device not found").
So, any (real) help?
Thanks for your time!

Thanks for your answer, pal. Unfortunately this didn't help me. I already found it here http://droidangel.blogspot.it/2011/06/guide-how-to-flash-updateupgrade.html but I am still stuck at '<1> setup connection..' step.
Tell me, did you really have my same problem? Black screen and uniquely the four-buttons combo able to make it detect by Odin? Because, if so, I want to understand what I do wrong. Thank you again :fingers-crossed:
I have the exact same problem :\ hoping someone has a solution for it ive tried everything!
same problem here too... brick by rom manager

ROM manager + galaxy ace = irreparable brick. You'll have to change your motherboard.

No one can help if you used ROM manager. Your ace is dead.
