after i heard that the official 10.1 CyanogenMod stable is very good i decide to try it but i found the result is horrible !!! i am saying about ROM without any overclock as i don't prefer to overclock !!! my official ROM 4.1.2 give in antutu more then 13000 but with cm 10.1 give less then 7000!!! in menus it is good but not 2D and 3d !!!
It's very annoying that everyone comes and without any search and reading starts a new thread. There are some people here who are really here to seek some knowledge
for this device so Please Please read and search first and then start a new thread.......It will be very helpful for some and post it in right section and thread.
i think that you had some kind of problem in installation, over 13000 would be normal for cm 10.1
. and anyway that applies suppousedly also to other ported roms, that use same kernel, approximately results vary between 12000 and 14000.

Benchmarks are nothing. Cm10.1 is maby smoother but it gives a lower score in reality maby cm 10.1 is faster

our device is very sensitive to conditions in which benchmark is ran; if your cpu hits throttle, you'll get really really poor results. also, chill out with font size & colour
OMG. 1st topic where benchmark results are really so important to author. They are not so objective as they supposedly are.

Hi everyone, first of all I'd like to apologize if I am posting this in the wrong section, as I'm new to this forum.
Getting back on topic, I'd like to know what kind of ROMS/Kernels you guys are using and hopefully recommend them to me as I'm new to custom ROMS. I am currently using CM7.2 stable with the ETaNA HOC Kernel (because I like experimenting with OC'ing) and while the ROM is great, the Kernel seems to have issues with displaying the battery value (keeps randomly changing from 89 to 91 for example.) I'd prefer it if someone could recommend a CM7 based ROM, seeing as ICS ROMS lack HWA. Also, what kind of CPU manager/settings/etc would you guys recommend? I bought Android Overclock, only to have it force close every time I used it -_-
Sorry if I'm asking too much, but Android and technology in general interests me
Thanks

You're using the Etana DS version which causes these battery jumps.
Just use the normal version if you dont want that (it's said that the DS version has slightly better battery though).
Don't use any 3rd party app, vadonkas kernel brings a lot of tools to do so.
Thanks, I've tried what you'd suggested and it seems to have fixed the issues I had.

go for any stock based rom - better performance and battery life
There is no such thing as best ROM

Best roms here
Your thread will probably be closed.
He's not asking for the best rom. He's asking for the best gaming rom... there's a difference there bro.
And yes stock based would be the best choice to go with.

I no there isn't a best rom but most roms are made for things like music, battery life etc I'm asking if there is 1 built for the gaming side
sent from my GT-S5830 EVO
basically there is no rom which is specifically made for improvin gaming speed! so my advice to you is dat download GAME BOOSTER. its an app which would increase ur gamin speed at the cost of battery. hit thnx if helpd!

No. Every rom has it's own up and downs. So if you need a rom for one specific goal, then one Rom is accually better then the other.. e.g. you don't use cm10 if you need a good battery/camera.
Quite logical if you ask me.
And I think cm7 uses less RAM then stock, so cm7 is indeed a better choice.

That is the problem. It is a matter of opinion. What you think (regardless of your logic) doesn't make any rom better than the other (at anything). Prove your reasons by standardised, peer reveiwed methods before you say that.
I think that mods will close this thread. That doesn't mean it will happen.
One rom has better battery life than the other, but the other one might have more futures(did I spell that correct?) . Those r not opinions but facts, But which of those things you need/want, is up to you, so the best rom FOR YOU, doesn't have to be the best rom FOR ME. That's the opinion part.
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda premium
If you ask me I don't think it matters on the rom, but on the current performance governor and app running in the background.
Try installing a system app killer or changing your governor to lagfree or performance.
Best of luck!

any CM7, performance governer, adrenaline boost before gaming. beware it may have an impact on battery.
Flashed the apocalypse rom and am using the adrenaline engine, AV got to say its defo the rom for me its very quick and I haven't had/got no problems with it at all
GT-S5830 APOCALYPSE ADRENALINE
for the music use power amp
for gaming use the rom you want with No-frills CPU Control and put cpu to 864 mHz and governor on smartassv2
IV set CPU at 806 that's working great so far and AV notice a list of kernals on this rom but don't want to flash 1 in case it messes the phone up and I'm not even sure if they work for my ace yet

Hello, community
I've got a Galaxy S and I'm running 4.1.2 Jellybean. I'm thinking of going back to Gingerbread and I'm wondering if you have any links to a good and stable GB ROM with very good battery life? that would be great. Preferably one that takes skins and looks like ICS or JB.
Thank you, :good:
Personally I find Mandana rom to be very satisfying in terms of speed, battery and stability. Haven't had once single random reboot of fc since flashing it 1 month ago.

Why do you want to go back? I see no reason to it, cause battery is much better than on gingerbread, cause Cm10 can use gpu to render the ui, so CPU is not at full frequency all the time, it can rest while gpu is working hard
One more reason to stay at Cm10 the compatibility, cause a few apps now only support ice cream sandwich and higher

I had a lot of Problems with other Roms but this one got me hooked. Great Atutu benchmarks etc.
Im running helly bean and I can say it's the fastest rom I ever flashed, it's smooooth as hell
also I o.c my phone to 1320 mhz with 408 mb of ram, it's stable and running games without lagging . you should try it

If you want a ROM that run Games smooth, i recommand you to take a look at the "CyanAOSP".
I already tested some roms and i really like CyanAOSP, soo smooth and verry good for Gaming.
Tested on: Asphalt 7 , Real Fotbal 2013, Gangstar City, Subway Surfers, Temple Run, Asphalt 6, Earn to Die, Drag Racing, Need For Speed HP, Fifa 12 , Sky Safari and many others, No lag. and get 4400+ on Antutu.
All jb ROMs are smooth;specifically AWAYS ROMs.

Try different kernel and different combination of scheduler and governor. Every kernel have a "performance" governor.
Btw don't forget that the benchmark are not really representative of the true performance of a device.
It is always good to have some big numbers, but some benchmark apps can be hacked easily to show to incredible scores (and in particular Quadrant).

Did you install CM nightlies? I heard they are more bug-free and has better performance than RC versions.By the way, don't expect any custom ROMs to be faster than stock ROM for the moment, most of them has a lot of bugs or performance issues, stock ROM is the best choice for now.
