It's what's listed on CPW. I'm not sure if these prices are increased because it's going through CPW and not directly through the network provider or if they're the prices O2 and Vodafone will be providing. However, O2 and Vodafone are the only networks currently providing information regarding contracts with the Nexus 4 included.

Giffgaff are raising their prices in a few days, now unlimited texts & data and 250 mins well be £12 a month. Still a great deal though.
You'd have to be insane to buy the N4 on one of those ridiculous contracts when it's so cheap sim free.

Very true, although there is still a £10 goodybag which is the same, only now it only has 1GB of data... (I say only, this is still ample amounts.)
The way I see it, why go contract on the N4, its like this phone is designed to be used on PAYG essentially. The network providers a really ripping the public off which their contracts, its disgusting.

Yeah, I saw something about their goodybag changes.
Some people won't have the money upfront though, tempting them into a contract, sadly. I wanted to put that into perspective in the long-term.

Yea some people I know won't pay £279 upfront because its too much. But they would get it on contract.

I suggest buying outright if you can. £279 for phone + (£12*24) for the 2 months = £567. Divide that buy 24 and you get £23.60 per month. For that you'll get 250 minutes, unlimited texts, unlimited data, and unlimited minutes to other people on giff gaff. That's assuming you pay for giff gaff every month straight away, and with the £12 goody bag. You can also subtract costs for when you go on holiday, you wont have to continue paying, and other such things.

The 3 options look good but i'm looking for a plan which includes unlimited tethering too. Seems almost impossible to find one though

3 don't charge for tethering, as far as I'm aware. I've never been charged for it, at least.

Even better, imo, is the Virgin 30 day rolling contract. £12 a month, 1200mins, unltd texts, 1GB internet. That's what I'll be using when I get my Nexus 4.

Moi. I've preordered mine through cpw on Vodafone as I'm upgrading. It says delivery on 13th so I hope it comes then!
I wonder if the play store lets people buy n4 before 13th so they are delivered by then?

There pricing Policy states tethering only available on the "One Plan" not on the all you can eat data plan.
Problem is i don't need unlimited calls. I wish a network operator would allow us to configure our own packages instead of being stuck with the crap they offer.

I'll give it a go hopefully on a rolling month - month contract basis if there are any to see how it works. If they stop me tethering i can just jump ship

With 3 you can add all ypu can eat data to any contract for £3 per month.
So if you are not fussed about voice minutes apparently you can get the £6.90 12 month contract that gives 200mins and 5000 texts then pay a further £3 per month for all you can eat data making it £9.90 per month... that's what I plan on doing.
I am on GiffGaff at the moment and don't like the increase to £12, all I use are texts and data.

I've been on GiffGaff for over a year now, I really like the freedom and the package prices. I agree that you would be mad taking a contract for a phone that's so cheap to pick up from Google play.

Here's my deal folks:
Tesco Mobile 1 month rolling contract: £15/month for 1000 minutes/5000 texts/2GB data (all you need is 30 days notice to cancel at anytime of year)
Total cost =
-> £180 for 1 year
-> £360 for 2 years
Not bad eh?
Also Tesco Mobile offers deals down to £7.50/month.
Going for unlocked phones are always the most cost effective option in the long term!!!

More importantly which service provider offers the best speed? No point in having unlimited if its capped to 1mb download speed.

The only plan options for U.S. customers : $30 T-mobile or $45 Straight Talk

It seems like these are the only two worthy plan options for U.S. people using the Nexus 4
Either you:
- Use little minutes (100 or less) and go with $30/mo T-mobile
- Use alot of minutes and go with $45/mo Straight Talk
I can't seem to find any other good value plans for the Nexus 4 besides these two. If anyone knows of any others feel free to let us know :good:

I use the $60 tmoble plan, unlimited everything with a 2gb 4g cap. 100 minutes is way too little and those voip setups are unreliable at best. My girl uses the $70 plan with 5gb and she streams radio and tethers her data to a couple other phones (also streaming radio) all day at work and never goes over or gets any warnings .

Sprint customer? You should know this.

Good news if you're a Sprint customer. Expect big changes within the coming 1-2 years. If you follow the stock market then you may have just heard that Sprint was recently purchased by SoftBank. The FCC has officially approved the deal now. In another transitional move, Sprint has purchased the entirety of Clearwire.
The big news is that SoftBank will be giving Sprint $5 billion this year to expand its 4G LTE network to compete directly with Verizon and AT&t.
Add that to the fact that Sprint now owns the Clearwire technology and can acquire all of their towers and things are looking pretty positive for Sprint customers all in all. Obviously this stuff doesn't happen over night, but give it 1-2 years time and you will see Sprint leading the way.

No worries.. That thread saying the plans are more expensive are incorrect.
If you have a SINGLE line with Sprint then you're more than likely on the 'Everything Data 450' plan, which costs $79.99 a month before tax. To stay at the same monthly price you should just switch to the 'Unlimited, My Way' plan which costs you $50 for unlimited talk and text, and $30 for the unlimited data. $50 + $30 = $80.. which is what the Everything Data 450 plan costs right now.
It's actually a BETTER option, because now you get unlimited calling. With the Everything Data 450 plan, you only get 450 anytime minutes. With the new plan at the SAME price you get unlimited EVERYTHING. Or, you can choose the 'My All-in' plan for $110 month and get unlimited data, text, and calling PLUS a 5GB hotspot add-on for your phone.
The price scheme is the same for 2 phones as well. The only people who are gonna end up paying MORE are the ones who have 3 or more lines on their accounts. But remember, not ALL phones will require unlimited data, and some phone may be basic phones. So the plan will be cheaper.
If you have multiple SMARTphones with Sprint and want unlimited data, here is a breakdown of what you'll be paying with the new plans:
2 phones currently on the 'Everything Data Share 1500' plan = $149.99
2 phones on the new 'Everything, My Way' plan = $150 per month but now you get unlimited calling
3 phones currently on the 'Everything Data Share 1500' plan = $179.98
3 phones on the new 'Everything, My Way' plan = $210 per month but now you get unlimited calling

Well I'm on a family plan (me+mom+dad+sis+bro) all 5 of us have smartphones. Unlimited text+data. So the hike in price will be extremely ridiculous, my parents will probably and HOPEFULLY switch to Verizon!!

Believe me...the grass is not greener in the other side.
Verizon service may be the most reliable but they lock their devices down to the max. They're always the first to up their prices too. I had the Verizon S4 and it lacked some of the basic features on the S4 that other variants have, like blocking mode.
I was with Sprint like 5 years ago before I switched to ATT and then Verizon. Based on what my family members told me about Sprint being better than before, I switched back to Sprint yesterday. And to my amaze they have 4G here and they're 3G is not as bad as it was years ago. Heck, ATT still doesn't have 4G here where in live.
I'm gonna try and wait it through to see what big changes Sprint comes out the gate with.

Well for my kids lines, I normally buy their phones off Craigslist, so I don't have a etf on their lines. As far as my wife and my lines, I pay the etf... But I cancel my line first then my wife's line in the next billing cycle. That way both etf's don't end up on the same bill.
Then I resale the phones my wife and I was using and recoup some of what I have to pay on the etf.

I love my sprint service after network vision. The data speeds are great. The question is how is sprint going to fix the large roaming areas. I hope softbank can fund sprint to fix this. Look at floridas map.

The ONLY thing that concerns me is the throttling of data speeds. They have long touted not throttling. And now they are. I've been telling everyone thatnsoftbank was a very bad idea. It was obvious but people just seen the couple billion to be spent on LTE. Problem is, Sprint is no longer Sprint. We are Softbank and Softbank ONLY. Don't expect anything to be how it was. All new business strategy and leadership. Verizon prices with slow speeds and far less coverage.

Actually id go so far as to say that a single line plan for myself would cost a good bit more with the new plans. i have a 25% discount that gets applied to my first line, with the new plan that discount is dropped to first line for mins etc then i have to pay the full amount on data.

Good points. And even the LTE thing I take with a huge grain of salt. Sprint been promising LTE will be almost everywhere in 1-2 years for years now. I'll believe it when I see it.

Larger markets will get LTE first. We only just NOW are getting enhanced 3G where I live. But, realistically, thanks to the SoftBank deal I predict most markets will have LTE within the next 1 1/2 years. It's definitely not an overnight switch.
Remember the EDGE network, a.k.a. 2G? Remember how long it took for everyone to get 3G when you first heard about it?

This is a false statement if you are talking about Sprints LTE deployment. They are not upgrading based on population. And they aren't doing upgrades city to city. They are upgrading whole markets at the same time.

What you need to understand is the $10 per line you pay for premium data. In the new plan, it's built in. That drops you 50 right there. These new plans are actually cheaper.

Ok, not sure where you got that information from.
The LTE roll will eventually be nationwide, but you can't expect the whole nation to make the switch overnight. LARGER markets will get LTE first which makes sense. Who do you expect to have LTE first... New York City, or some little town in northern Washington?
The switch will take place piece by piece and step by step with priority going to markets with a higher demand for 4G LTE. Like I said in my previous post, I expect 90% of all markets to have LTE within the next 1 1/2 years.

I hope so, 2 years ago.... a lady from Sprint swore to my bf that we would have 4g at the end of the year........nope nothing....I hardly even get 3g (in some locations)

I don't care what anyone says and no one will convince me otherwise. Sprint's network upgrade vision has been/is terrible. They should of been doing LTE like others instead of wasting time/money on WiMax. T-Mobile has done in a year what Sprint should have been able to do years ago. I've been with Sprint for a while and am really getting fed up with it all. I'm lucky to have LTE (about 50%) where I live but we never got WiMax and the 3G speeds suck and always have. The new pricing better not mess with my corporate rates or I'm jumping ship.

Let's just say I know people. They are not doing upgrades based on population. New York and LA would have been the first places to get LTE if that was the case. Not to mention there is different LTE providers per region of the country. Such as Alcatel/Lucent, Samsung, Ericsson. It is by whole markets not cities. Example the whole Upper Central Valley of California is a market. Which goes from Oregon to Stockton to Reno and beyond. Sacramento will be upgraded last because it is harder to do work in a major city and get building permit approval etc. So smaller suburbs such as Rocklin and Roseville already have LTE going and the city of Sacramento has nothing.

Net10 $75 Unlimited 5GB Plan, anyone?

Loving my Nexus 5, it was so great to get to leave Verizon for a better phone, and a better price.
I've been on Straight Talk for the past month, and my time is almost up, 2.5gb is close, but I need a bit more. I want to get the new Net10 $75 plan, and evidently need a new AT&T sim card for their network.
Can I just buy the SIM I need and then select that plan when activating? Or do I HAVE to buy this $50 activation kit and then upgrade to the $75 after a month?

They used to be, now they offer $45/month for unlimited talk, text & 2.5GB of data.. After the 2.5, I believe they throttle.

Yup. I'm using between 2.75 and 4.5 data a month. I don't want the throttling.
Was looking at AIO, but it is throttled all the time, and who knows what will happen now that AT&T is buying Cricket (word is AIO is being shut down).

It's 2.5gb of high speed speed data, then the slow you down to 2g.
My understanding is that you can just buy 0.99c sim off eBay and then activate it on any plan they have. It's a dollar risk, I'd try it before paying for an activation kit.. The apn settings are posted all over.

That's what I was hoping. The guy I talked to on the phone support was nice, but I could barely hear him (landline), and that sounds like maybe what he was saying.
Net10 has free overnight shipping on their $6.99 sim cards, or you can get them on Amazon too for .99 as a Prime AddOn.

Make sure you get one already cut for micro size.

Okay @coorsleftfield , just ordered the one I linked. I'm assuming when it gets in I activate the sim and then select a plan on the site? It was a month ago for Straight Talk but I believe they had a similar setup (drank a lot since then).

not here in nyc, they are the best. i average 30-40mbps download and 15-25mbps upload. great lte coverage here, no dropped calls. and they are cheap not because of bad service, but because they are the 4th largest provider in the us, and are trying to take away the customers from the 3 largest providers. att is terrible in nyc(but improving), so is sprint.

Yeah, that's not what I asked about though, thanks.
My wife WORKS for T-Mobile, there's a reason I'm on AT&T now and she's giving up her Employee Plan for the same. Unlimited X No Signal = Unlimited Nothing. LOL In her call center they are lucky if they can get edge 95% of the time. In a large metro area too. In the two counties I work in, Socorro and Catron Counties, there is no T-Mobile service at all unless you stay within a few miles of the freeway (I-25), and that is spotty too. I can't be out of service for a 6 hour round trip drive to some of the lands we are responsible for near Arizona.
Hell, we live less than 200 feet from I-25, and she gets 1 to 2 bars in the house, and can't make a call unless she switches to WiFi.

I have no need for this, hence why I started the thread about this specific plan with Net10.

I was with T-Mobile for years under my wife's plan, I wish them nothing but luck and love how they are changing the industry, but until their network expands and gets reliable, I can't us them here in New Mexico.

lol, i just checked out the part of new mexico that youre in, now it makes sense. i wouldnt consider anywhere near there a large population center where you work, probably not where you live either. yea, tmobile doesnt have good coverage out there, near the middle of no where.. my bad. but near actual large population areas, tmobile is starting to earn its name

Is tethering extra?

Go with h20 wireless, they have a $60 plan unlimited 4g no caps.
Its a new plan they just got.

tethering is included in all the plans, its unlimited tethering on all the plans except its limited to 2.5gb on the completely unlimited high speed data plan($70 all inclusive). but even then, another 2gb tethering can be bought as well.

Just myself on the plan, i used to pay almost $90 for the old 3GB, 450 min talk, unlimited text, plan from long ago but i was just looking around and found this new plan (new to me at least) which suits me well. I don't know why i got the -$15 discount but it brings it down to $65, and i got the S5 monthly phone payment plan for $25/month. essentially paying the same i've always been with AT&T.
i am not sure if this new plan i am using allows wifi tethering but it works for me. I have disabled every AT&T service/app from my phone as well. Just sharing my experience.
Can anyone else confirm that it's most likely that Mobile Share Value Plans allow tethering/wi-fi hotspot from the S5?

Is there a tethering option or app that works on the S5 without the provision enabled (I have an old grandfathered data plan)?

Any Mobile Share plan of any size allows for WiFi hotspot with no additional charge.

All current mobile share plans include hotspot at no additional charge. However that is a useless thing since LTE would. Eat up the limited data very quickly.

Not sure how you figure tethering is useless, I it for emergency connections to work when im on the road and it doesn't eat up that much data unless you start downloading or streaming music/videos etc.
and P.S. NOT all mobile share plans include tethering, I currently have the Family share plan (Which does include tethering) I also have a second plan which is a 10gb shared plan and it does NOT include tethering

Chillsen, the reason you get the $15 discount is because you haven't gotten a new phone since February. If you get a new 2yr contract you'll lose that $15 discount, or you can do next with a phone installment & keep the discount.

And the mobile share value plans all include tethering. If you share data, it includes tethering, with any of the plan tiers. The older nation/familytalk plans don't include it unless your individual data feature is the $50 5GB one. You could theatrically be on some grandfathered feature/plan that's different, but it would have to be from 6+ years ago before I started working for at&t.

actually the other plan that i have (currently has 3 devices on it) is the initial unlimited data package probably from around the 6 to 7 yr ago mark and even though it is unlimited it does not include tethering and i can't change it do to an employer subsidy if i change it i loose it (or so i was told)
I also have a friend who has a tiered data plan from AT&T which is not the family shared plan she just signed up for this around 18 to 24mnths ago and it does not include tethering so I guess im confused if all tiered plans are supposed to have free tethering what gives?

The unlimited plans never allowed tethering (for obvious reasons) and you're correct, once you give it up, it's gone. The employer discount applies to some portion of your bill no matter what plan you're on, it's just better on certain ones depending on the employer's agreement. I have 3 unlim data lines, and with my discount they're $23 each (pretty awesome, but no "official" tethering).
The 18/20 month next program has to do with financing the phone, so she may or may not get tethering with her plan regardless of the phone terms. But basically if you have the 1,2,4,6,10,20,30 etc gigabyte shared data plan, tethering has been included in all of them, all along. If it's an individual 250mb, 300mb, 2gb, or 3gb feature, tethering is not included.

I see your from the East Coast? I'm starting to think AT&T has different plans depending on geographic location when i switched my family line tothe family shared plan (less than a year ago) there was no 20 or 30gb shared plans only a 10gb and a 15gb, are the 20 and 30gb plans new? if so Im going to go switch getting tired of the kids burning thru 10gb of data in a week :laugh::laugh:

They do have different options in different markets but mostly when they're testing something new or the regulations force it. The 20/30/40/50GB plans only came out in the last couple months though

The reason why I find tethering useless is because of well some of us can't afford the 10GB plan is far more money than I ever want to pay AT&T for anything. I am on the 1GB plan because it's all I can afford to buy from them with all of my lines. Actually what is your bill like anyway? It's gotta be over like $300. Your employee discount depending on what agreements your job has with AT&T might only apply to the rate plan only and not device connection charges. I get an 8% discount with my job but it only applies to the $25 rate plan so I get $2 off and not the $11.20 I was hoping for...

Discounts go as high as 28% so someone can get a 10G plan with their own phone for $87/mo which ain't bad. Unfortunately you're right, discounts only apply to the primary group feature ($100 for 10gb, $60 for 700min familytalk, etc). I'm lucky enough to have a few unlimited data lines with a generous discount on everything so I keep my plan as is, but it's still expensive. $220/mo for 4 lines
