[Q] battery not charging to 100% - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys, I've moved from stock GB to cm10 and then Mackay.
In both cases my sgs battery charge indicator never goes above 96% after a full charge (plugged in up to 8 hours!!!).
When I was on stock GB it was always correctly charging up to 100%...
Does anybody know how to solve this anomaly?
Thank you!

I read something about for I9001..
Do you charge in power-off mode? You should try to do like that, then turn on the phone, re-join it to the battery charger, wait for the 100% and a quarter of hour after unplug the phone. In that way the battery should reset.
Alternative way is downloading an app from the store to re-calibrate the battery. Search on market like 'battery'

nAa 08b +miniCM7 battery charging problem

I'm using MiniCM7 on top of his kernel and no bugs for me except battery.. If battery reaches 15% phone will shut down soon... battery will drain in few moments and battery icon will get into "drained icon" (that red one with x in the middle)...
I connected my charger and phone is not charging... But, I didn't realized that...
Offline charging works for now and we will see
I think battery stats wipe will solve it.... I just have wiped it.. but battery is ****...
Phone is now exactly one year old... I hope it just was my fault because I rearly fully charge my phone...
Anyone had similiar expiriences? I don't trust my battery now....
Try with your stok kernel and rom

Battery drain

Hi guys,
Sorry to bother you but I need help.
Last night I went to bed and my note had a full charged battery. This morning I fpund it drained. I put my note in charge and tried a soft reset but when I switched it on it said: remove some app in the task manager because the continuous running apps while charging battery may drain it (or something like that, it's the first time I see it). Of course, tbe task manager is empty and there isn't any app running. What can I do?
I have stock rom, all updated and no root.
Thanks

Any chance you installed anything recently?
You can check out this thread to find out what is draining your battery.

i don't think so...
and i also try with S3 charger, the problem is same
when you connect the charger, does the phone display it charging in the notification bar or lock screen?
when you say 27%, does it mean it was always at that or it reached there from some other % after 3 hrs and it's very slow charging?
If there is no notification, and you have changed the charger, then check inside the micro use port for some foreign particles. If not that too, may be you have a faulty usb port

Is the battery obviously bloated, if so exchange for a new one. If not, sounds like you've got a dud anyway, exchange.

can you paste a screen shot of the settings-battery-click on graph.
Another Solution ?
besides the battery exchange

Use betterbatterystats and determine if there's a wakelock causing issues.... What rom are you on? I'm guessing stock 4.04?

I will try...
yes, i am on Stock ROm 4.0.4, Hydracore kernel v5.3
if the kernel is also affect?
First of all I would suggest HC 4.3 std kernel. Then, go into recovery -> advance -> wipe battery stats.

Once I had similar problem - my bat. was getting stuck at 92%. I wiped the stats and everything went back to normal.
But first of all change the kernel to 4.3 Many people (including me) were complaining about the battery drainage.

How about Hydracore Kernel v7 ?

Battery not charging fully

Hi,
Off later my mobile's battery has stopped charging to 100%
It started while I was using the Paranoid Android ROM and I thought it was due to some kernel issue. However, post that I have flashed other ROMs including the stock ones but the issue remains.
I had installed Android Tuner and it showed that battery is in good health and the scale is 100%
Has someone faced similar issues? Please share solutions if any

Have you tried wiping the battery stats in recovery? Otherwise try some battery maintenance by letting it completely drain and charge again a few times over.
Hi
Yes I wipe the battery stats when flashing a Rom.. Have also tried discharging the battery completely and then charging it but no improvement..
If there is any specific tool for battery maintenance then I can give it a shot..

I had the problem earlier, drain your battery completely , take it out , after 5 mins plug it in then switch on....let it completely charge

Hmm, my only suggestion is to try yashwantpiduru a few times over. Also, until you get this sorted, try only charging it using your computer to get a slow charge. Don't "rapid" charge your phone using the AC adapter.
Other than that, you may require a new battery, even if it's reporting "100% health"

Very weird battery readings

Hello everyone.
So, I upgraded to KitKat (duh!) Loving all the new features.
But... After having used j-team aosp for a while my phone wouldn't give me proper battery readings:
Phone would say that the battery is charging even though it's not.
Phone would say that battery is at 100% even though it's not and it would later on (randomly) switch to some other value closer to the real value and decrease very quickly.
Phone does not recognise it's charging and instead displays the same value all the time.
Now, I can make it work OK if I reboot the phone, but it's really a bit of a hassle.
This same issue is present even after I switched to TC CM11 so I'm not sure it's rom-related (did all the wipes of course!!) but at the same time my boyfriend had the same issue when he installed cm11 on stock jb, so I don't think it's phone related.
I tried a couple of battery calibration apps with no avail.
Any suggestions...?
Thanks in advance!

Do couple full charge and discharge and see what happen. It is like that when you change ROM, my fist charge on new CM11 gave me half day of use, but 2-3 charge was fine.
Well, the thing is, I've been using cm11 for more than a month now. I'm sure the battery has had enough time to settle!
