ignore every line below this. ADB should not work in bootloader, only fastboot commands. I did not know this, but hopefully this will help others that my come across this.
So here's some info to get you caught up
I have an HP Envy 17 running Windows 8 - the laptop has 4 USB 3.0 ports. In order for me to get fastboot commands working, I had to use a 'hack' to get Intel USB drivers installed over Microsoft USB drivers. I used this method: http://plugable.com/2012/12/01/windows-8-and-intel-usb-3-0-host-controllers
Performing the USB hack got fastboot commands working and I was able to successfully unlock bootloader, install recovery, and flash ARHD 12.
I now want to S-OFF and update firmware.
My dilemma is that adb commands do not work when the phone is booted into the bootloader, however, fastboot commands do!
ADB works when the phone is booted to the OS.
Does anyone have any recommendations for this situation, or have you experienced the same problem and found a solution?
That's how it's suppose to be.... Adb works while phone is booted up or in custom recovery... Fastboot works in fastboot mode
Yeah that's true. When in bootloader only the fastboot commands work

Do you have ADB and fastboot software installed in your PC? Either have that or download Android SDK. You can boot your phone via ADB command lines.

Can you reach the boot menu by pressing the volume down key while powering on?
Otherwise, try to check if fastboot is able to see your device and flash some new boot and system image

Yes, installed correct. it show up in the Device Manager list.
Anyway, i go to try this driver. Thanks. Let me know u
hmm. unlucky. Still nothing. Windows take a signal when connecting phone shows on fastboot menu => fastboot usb and adb mode say error device not found:crying:
i scanned my drivers using driver genius v11, i saw android driver named Samsung_Android_4.0_usbdrivers. now i think its something wrong with my boot.img?
When you see fastboot usb, and you type fastboot devices in a terminal, what does it say? ADB only works in recovery or when your ROM is booted, so just focus on fastboot.
it say when N1 is fastboot usb mode "error device not found". thanks for advance. tomorrow i'll be ask more.

Started cmd.exe typed adb shell => adb mode showed HT9**********. Now problem is wont boot. What i do now? :silly:

Good evening all. I am hoping for some help before I try and exchange my Nexus 7.
The Nexus 7 was running Rasbeanjelly fine on a trinity kernel.
I flashed a new kernel motlry kernel.
I am now stuck with access to fastboot, no access to recovery, the 7 wont boot up.
So I cant get to recovery (which was TWRP). I cant flash a new rom because the computer (windows 7) doesnt see the device. I have downloaded the Nexus 7 tool kit but it doesnt see the device even if I refresh the drivers (before the issue I had no problems with the 7 being seen on the computer). I dont see how I can use adb as the device cant be seen by the computer.
Any last thoughts before I return?.
Many thanks one and all.
Matt.

Yeah but adb uses command line? Just because it is not showing up doesn't mean you are without a fix. Don't give up. Did you try using a toolkit? I had a similar problem but got it to work. I am trying to remember how I got it to flash. Thinking......
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda app-developers app
fastboot you say that you have? try fastboot booting your recovery. also, when you get this sorted, your gonna want to flash the newest bootloader, it fixes the issue of not being able to get into recovery from your bootloader.
put the recovery file into the same folder as fastboot on your computer. open fastboot/open the command window. type..
fastboot devices(press enter)(this should give you your devices id number if fastboot sees your device)
fastboot boot recovery yourrecoveryname.img(press enter)(this should boot the recovery)
Thanks guys for the advice. I will give it another go this weekend and come back for a bit of help or let you know resolved. Last day at work!.
Thanks again.
Matt
I had mine stuck with no bootloader and managed to get it flashed. I do not see the point in spending hours with command line unless you would want to learn. Why spend hours on something when you don't have the time? Some say not to use toolkits but I guess they always want to make things harder for themselves. Granted, we need to understand exactly it is what we are doing, many of tutorials are like one of big riddle. I recommend using this toolkit.... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1809195 Make sure you are at page 1.

Matt
Greetings.
I recently rooted my HTC Desire C with Hasoon2000's Desire C All-in-one-kit, and installed CM10 build #3 (this one).
All went well... except now my device isn't recognized in adb, outside of CM10! (hboot, fastboot, recovery). Nevertheless, when entering fastboot/hboot, the addition 'usb' still appears ("hboot usb"/"fastboot usb"), so there is definitely some recognition. The device appears in the hardwarelist when in CM10, and hboot. It seems to completely disappear in fastboot though.
I can't use adb anymore, and therefore can't make any changes to my device. Flashing boot.img is now become impossible.
I unfortunately devoted two whole days to try to solve this problem by myself, and googled for hours... but nothing works.
- I switched from a x64 to a x86 system (windows 7).
- I uninstalled and re-installed multiple HTC drivers countless times, and also tried the UnrEVOked driver several times (on windows 7 32-bit; 64 bit didn't work). There were no changes at all.
It would be great if someone could help me with this, because it's driving me insane (not to mention, it drains my productivity..).
Some details:
- HTC Desire C.
- CM10 build #3 (10-20130604-unofficial-golfu)
- Baseband version: 10.17.98.09H_1.15.98.04
- Kernel version: [email protected]#82
- CPU: Armv7 Processor rev 1 (v7l)
- Munjeni Touch v5.5.0.4 (recovery)
- Bought the device in The Netherlands, provider = KPN.
From fastboot:
- GOLFU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
- HBOOT-1.31.0000
- RADIO-1.15.9804
- eMMC-boot
- Jul 12 2012, 15:44:30
Please, someone help me... It would be much appreciated. What can I do to fix this problem?
I should mention that I'm not a programmer though - I merely follow guides on the web...
You dont need adb to flash images. You need fastboot. The command for flashing boot.img is
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
In the recovery (TWRP atleast) you have the option of adb sideload in the advanced menu..

Wait, then I must have misunderstood something.
I know I should use this command:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

But how am I supposed to execute this command, then, when in fastboot? I thought one should do this with cmd + adb?
Sorry for the n00bness... this is the first time I ever 'tampered' with a phone/android device. (I tried to read as much as I could find about this, though - but evidently failed).

I tried this and it gave me either an "device not connected" error, or an "unknown error" (if the last message appears, the device freezes up and I have to pull out the battery to restart it).
Whatever it was, it is now fixed... just installed the NOPE kernel successfully. :good::good::good:
Hello everyone!
I just flashed the Android Revolution ROM (5.1 version) and it wouldn't boot properly- (I was using twrp and had S-Off) afterwards I flashed clockworkmod to see if maybe twrp was the issue...
Now my phone will only boot into fastboot and refuses to reboot or boot into recovery.. I'm totally out of ideas and the toolkits I've used in the past don't seem to be of any use.
If anyone has any clue or tip then I would greatly appreciate it!
Hi.
I'm in the same situation as this poor fella (only fastboot, no CWM recovery) except my situation might be even worse as I'm running Windows 8.1, this stupid OS which prevents to use fastboot. I know there is a solution to make it work on W8.1, but unfortunately there is no USB 3.0 port on my computer so I can't use the Intel driver workaround.
So right now my phone is stuck on the bootloader screen and I really don't know what to do anymore.
I'm freaking out at the fact that I've lost my primary phone...argh. I wish I never quickly went for the 4.4 roms.. been giving me trouble
Well.. I flashed twrp through fastboot using Hasoon's HTC Toolkit and it looks like it worked but.. when trying to boot into recovery it freezes then cycles through rebooting..
Had these issues too, only option was ruu to get my phone back up and running.

1. Download a fresh copy of the latest twrp 2.6.3.3 from here ------> http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
2. Throw that recovery image into your fastboot folder and rename it twrp
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash recovery twrp.img
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot reboot-bootloader
Sometimes that erase cache command does the trick

Forgive my ignorance but I've only been using Toolkits and have no clue on how to run commands through the command prompt..
But I am willing to learn! Where exactly would you recommend me looking into to get this working?
(I have the SDK manager and HTC usb files if that helps?)

Okay i got a serious problem. HTX One m7 (german phone)
First of all some facts:
HBoot Version : 1.44
Can i enter fastboot_ - yes (phone is S-ON)
Can i enter recovery? yes
Which Recovery do i have? CWM 6.0.4.6
Okay, so i accidently deleted all data on my internal storage so ofc i got no more ROM.
so far so good so i tried to push the rom over... via adb push ROM.zip /sdcard
didnt work no device found (mounted data). So i tried the sideload... didn't work as well. (both tried on windows 7 x 64)
fastboot works cuz i reflashed the recovery already.
also i get no working drivers for my windows 8.1 PC#s... i tried all the drivers on dozens of topics, none works for me.. (my win 7 pc is extremely slow so i would like to do it on my win 8 pc)
I need really advise here cuz i need my phone lol
best regards
