ummm that may sound easy to you but not so easy for me especially cause I tried putting the clockwork recovery folder into the TWRP one and then deleted it by mistake. Now i installed Rom manager and installed clockwork from there. My phone's still backing up the system. Is this a good thing ? =) sorry for stupid questions. I'm not sure how to
now my phone rebooted and seems to have the clockwork recovery back . Can I unistall the Rom manager from my phone now?
Please let me know if it's safe to uninstall Rom Manager from devise now?

Rom manager is just an app that lets you manage things easily...as long as the recovery is flashed nothing will happen if you delete the app

It takes a while to perform a backup but let it go, it's a good idea to do full backup at regular intervals.
Keep rom manager and use it. I've used it since I've been on android. It's the best tool for backing up, restoring and managing your backups.

what do you mean?
when i opened rom manager and choose the rom i wanted to install it asked if i wanted to wipe and backup or something but i know i check both. then i install the zip in the recovery boot menu and rebooted and no luck. then i tried another rom and wiped before installing and still no luck.
At the very top of rom manager, you must flash 2.5.0.1 recovery. Did you do this first?

So you flashed the clockworkmod recovery, booted into recovery and made a nandroid of your stock rom. Then, what rom were trying to flash?

This exact same thing happened to me. What I did to fix it was pull the battery, then wipe everything (dalvik, data, cache), and then rebooted. My phone was able to boot then.
I'm having the same problem with rom manager. I just rooted my desire using the unrevoked method, then ran rom manager. I did install the recovery mode first, then backed up the rom. How my desire is just rebooting to the htc screen. How do I get out of this?
Many thanks,
Joe
dumb question, but how did you wipe everything?

Hey, that's exactly the same issuing I'm experiencing now. Did you solve it? And if yes, how?
Well, a few hours later I solved it by restoring a backup and then booting went well. Also described in a thread on androidforums dot com (I can't enter the link here due to not having posted enough messages) .

I don't know if this helps, but I'm pretty sure nandroids are specific to which recovery they were created with, I read that somewhere a few days ago. If you did not have clockwork before, I would try getting the recovery you used to make the nand, install that recovery and then restore the nand. Then try the whole wipe everything and get clockwork and go to town. If you haven't tried RA/Darch 1.7 recovery, I would recommend it, I personally like it better than clockwork, it seems faster, and simpler to use.
Exactly What "Il Duce" Said Will Fix Your Problem, Same Exact Thing Happened To Me, What I Did Was Go Back To Previous Version Of Rom Manager Then Flash Alternate Recovery, AND Regular Clockwork Recovery, Should Be Good After That!

Hi people
Today i've tried to flash ClockworkMod recovery in my HTC Legend via Rom Manager. After downloaded recovery, i've rebooted my device and an installation process has completed successfully. I realize that ClockworkMod Recovery has been installed and running well.
I reboot to recovery again and i see that CWmod recovery is vanished!!!
The original recovery of Legend is here!
What happened??? how can i flash a custom recovery permanently in Legend???
If it's possible, what recovery you advise me?
PS: My phone is rooted and i install custom roms via R4-Legend-Root tool.

If I well understood it is impossible to flash a permanent recovery in the Legend. But a temporary recovery is possible via Rom Manager! Right?

If you need to have the recovery any time in your phone and you don't need ROM manader, you can try this:
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...unching-recovery-on-your-device-without-a-pc/
I have it on my SD card all the time it and it works great

Got notification to update to the latest CM, clicked ok on everything, phone rebooted, now stuck on boot screen.
Can enter CWM but nothing functions, cannot choose update from SD or anything.
Please help..
(Did search, probably not good enough, but nothing came up. Am also new to the Rom Manager thing. Please don't flame if this is answered somewhere already..)
Did you make a nandroid backup? I always make one 'just in case' before I update.

Thanks for the quick reply!
Am not sure I did; I think it asked me if I wanted to back up the current rom and I think I clicked not to. Either way, I cannot do anything in CWM, what ever I choose gets stuck at the little hat with the arrow and I have to pull the battery.
It's not a big deal (I hope at least) to revert back to an original image, as it's my back-up phone so I don't use it daily. Hope it's easier than that though..
I would say reverting back to an original image via the passimg trick would be your best option right now (unless your bootloader is unlocked?)

It is unlocked. Any magic trick..?!
EDIT: I can enter the options in CWM. Being used of the Atrix I was pressing the on/off button instead of the trackball to choose. Ffs.. Anyway, I tried wiping the data, no go; still stuck on bootscreen
I would try restoring a backup if you have one. If not, just do a wipe and clean install...
Unlocked bootloader could've been used to install a new recovery, though that now looks it was operator error... xD

After a bit of trial & error..fixed!! Dude, it's the 2nd time you've helped me, you should have a donation button. Now I can't buy you a beer..
THANKS!!!!
You're welcome!
I have all the beer I need, but thanks for the offer!! xD
I have kind of the same issue but I am still stuck..
I have an unlocked bootloader and rooted atrix, everything was fine until I installed gingerblur through the cwm ( I chose to install from the sd card ), once I did that it finished what it was doing then I used the reboot feature through cwm. My phone is now not moving past the motorola dual core screen. It still says unlocked at the top left and I can still enter cwm and fastboot. I have read alot about trying to flash through fastboot, but I am sorry I am a newb and do not know how to flash through fastboot. I am desperate for help... any help would greatly be appreciated.
If you can still access recovery, I would try a full wipe and instal again...
Thank you for your response... I did as you said and wiped everything... found a .zip file for android 2.3.4 gingerbread and installed that through cwm. I now have a new question... what is the best way to create a nandroid backup?? I went in android recovery mode on the boot screen and proceeded to backup through the menus and saved it to my external sd card... the only problem is that when I tried to restore back to the backup I made before it kept giving errors while trying to install the backup file. Any ideas how I can successfully create a android backup on this ATRIX 4g??

You can start by going to the atrix forum and not the nexus one.
Sorry... just downloaded xda app and new to it.

Hello, i rooted my phone, and it came installed with superuser, CWM and CWM tweaks. i installed rom manager and found out that it contains CWM too.
i have a screenshot here: tinypic.com/r/rh4y1f/5
What is the difference between these to and which one should i use?
Thanks in advance.
I'm not entirely sure what that App is. I imagine, when you click it, it would simply reboot your phone into recovery (CWM)—meaning they're the same thing.
Also, using ROM Manager to make backups, etc. is just like using CWM. If you make a backup in ROM Manager, it will be visible/restorable in CWM; likewise, if you make one in CWM, it will be fully usable in ROM Manager. Using ROM Manager to make a backup literally reboots your phone into recovery, makes the backup, then reboots into Android. It does the same thing, without you having to go through CWM's menus.
Alright, thanks

Not sure. Whatever app that was in his picture, which was just titled "CWM". I figured it would do as you said, though.
Hi All,
Iv been looking at These instructions for flashing the latest Cyanogenmod, and it says to install clockwork mod app.
why cant I do the install by just rebooting into recovery mode on the phone? Is there something special Cyanogen mod does?
Thanks
I was stupid, sorry

@bugs78
hi there is no need to install app just boot to recovery then do wipe - flash - wipe

Clockwork mod recovery is a special android recovery that is made esp. for cyanogenmod and rom manager app. This recovery is able to handle flashing of roms, create backup and restore and do many other advance things, which are not possible to do via stock recovery.
If you don't have problem falshing cm7 then, why are thinking too much about installing CWM recovery? I suggest you give it a try and I guarantee that you'll love both clockwork mod recovery and cm7 custom rom. Good Luck! with the flashing.
P.S. DOn't use ROM MAnager with Galaxy Mini.
Thanx guys for the stupid newb questions!!
I successfully rooted my phone no problem at all, while I was on a role I decided to have a go at installing ClockworkMod, following These instructions I downloaded all files ran odin and booted my phone to download mode I connected it, and odin found the phone, so I pressed start and it didnt appear to do anything. The phone didnt reboot and I got no status messages. I followed them exactly.
I might try again tommorow on another PC.
anyone else experienced this?

Maybe the title was misleading as Why Clockworkmod?
Maybe that's why he replied about stock and custom recovery.
But the content in the post was clear, as the OP said about why the CWM app needed for installing ROMs, but the Thread title should be clear enough though, as it should be more like Why Clockworkmod app?
yes thats exactly what I meant coolsandie, and noted I could have worded the thread better. its been a while since iv done the whole forum thing. but, thanx for the tips guys
