It's kilobits.. that score is under 2meg.
yea i did a retest using a different server. theres a newer screenshot up. 2megs!!
lol...if it was 7.2..... it would say 7.2 on that speed test lol
and the link you updated is not up
damnit image shack!!
ok try now. new link
7.2 isnt the transfer rate. its the network size. transfer rate will never be at 7megs
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High-Speed_Downlink_Packet_Access
hmm... 7meg transfer rates?? im sooo out of date. maybe tmobile capped it???
ok just used mobilespeedtest.com and did the 3meg test and resulted with 4082kbps. im not liking this speedtest.net app.
use xtreme labs speedtest
and 7.2 transfer rates are possible but due to network traffic, it will probably be much less.
what did you get before?

mobilespeedtest has alrdy been proven to be false and misleading.
and 2meg is actaully pretty normal depending on ur area.

the xtreme app will only work once then i have to reboot. but with it i do get 400-500kbps down. same as when 3g first rolled out. signal stregth at my house is not all that good. so to see 2megs down after my 3g signal dropped for about 30mins alerted me to what tmobile was up to.
I get 751Kbit/s down and 151Kbit/s up in downtown Seattle area.
Since T-Mobile US is headquartered about 20 minutes from here, I call BS on them upgrading the speed, as I'd think they would do it near HQ first.
Tmo here in Orlando and HSPA+ switch is on, however, I can HSDPA speeds of 3-5mbps which is great! My HSUPA speeds seem capped around .58-.68mbps though, not the 1.2+mbps that others are seeing. Do you guys have settings or extra code lines set in /system/build.prop file?
I had:
HSXPA=1 or 2 doesn't make a difference
gprscategory=12 or 10 no difference
HSDPA=8 highest the N1 is capable of
HSUPA=4, 5 or 6 no diff, still .58-.68 upload speeds
Have any of you guys modified the build.prop file with HSPA+? Is it needed at all?
I've been getting 1.3Mbps upload consistently in NYC since January using both stock and modded Cyanogen ROMs, including FroYo when I was testing a few weeks ago.

Can you check your /system/build.prop file and see if there are any entries for ro.ril.hsupa=? ???

Yeah I'm 10 minutes outside of NYC and get nowhere near that speed.
my opinion, you can not "tap" into a network that isn't available in your area.
So trying to set your prop to any settings for a faster network, is time wasted.

Your opinion doesn't mean anything, because not only is it an obvious fact you can't use a network that isn't there, but he said that Orlando DOES have the HSPA+.

Thanks for correcting my mistake
The local network appears to be capped at .6Mbps for you, something you'll have to take up with your local engineers. They'll probably increase upload soon, if they will at all.
I've found you don't have to edit the build prop when using any stock ROM. Only when using cyanogen do I lose hsupa, then I have to fix my build prop.
For example, on stock 2.1 and 2.2 froyo, I get 1.5 mbps upload. As soon as I load any cyanogen ROM, my upload immediately gets capped at 384 kbps. I edit build prop to set hsxpa=2 and instantly my upload goes right up to 1.5 mbps again.
And this makes sense, because Google is selling a 7.2 mbps down / 2.0 mbps up phone, right? So they have the maximum hsupa setting by default. Setting it to anything less makes no sense because the phone will always connect to The fastest connection available in any given location. There's on reason to ever set hsxpa less than 2 in the build prop file, cause that just artificially lowers your connection. I've always wondered why cyanogen ROM had this set like that. Never made any sense.
The exact same thing is happening to me in Lancaster, CA. I get 150-200kbps down on edge and for the last few day on 3g I'm only getting 50kbps down... on top of my gps not working and noone knowing a fix I'm starting to wish I had bought an iPhone...

I suggest you try eViL D FroYo ROM. It comes with the build.prop tweak. With stock Froyo you need to add it on. Not sure if it makes a difference, I didn't notice any when I did it. But you got nothing to lose if you try.

rhjay what speed do u oc to for those high ass mflops...
I am in orlando and notice that the download speeds are much better than upload speeds when considering what others are getting.
I think it might just be our area
I'm getting download speeds anywhere from 57kbps to 126kbps on average...
I'm getting upload speeds anywhere from 578kbps to 814kbps...
Is this normal? Is there something wrong with the towers in my area? Because I get similar speeds on other android devices (including samsung moment, and other htc hero handsets).
What speeds are you getting on average? Please, let me know if you think there is a problem with the towers in my area... Or if I should call Sprint? Thanks

Mine are backwards too! Uploads are way faster than downloads, using speed test, my location Houston TX, downloads 641-uploads964. A bit backwards, lol.
Just tested mine. Download is 2176 and upload is 978

Not much going on in GT-i9305 section so let see what this phone can really do...
All kinds of Speed Tests, Benchmarks and Battery Stats are welcome
Network: 3G or 4G???
Just wondering how it goes on DC-HSPA+??? Here in UK, Three is fastest so far... I'm getting speeds 15-25Mbps DL / up to 4.5Mbps UL in many places!! Who need expensive LTE with crazy data capping (500MB - £36/pm) and speeds 10-20Mbps... Joke...
To check what kind of 3G connection you have while testing:
1: dial *#0011# (phone will go in to Service Mode)
2: press home button
3: open and run SpeedTest
4: press&hold home button and switch back to Service Mode...
5: on the bottom of screen look for "DC_HSPA+ : 1(enabled) 0(disabled)"
Battery:
Many people reported bad battery life but I'm very happy with it so I'll share some of my tricks how to get more juice....
My current set up: Pandoriam ROM v6.6, latest Perseus Kernel: no UV, no OC, no tweaks, Modem: BUALI6, Network: 3UK (DC-HSPA)
1. Custom ROM & kernel is recommended but NOT essential (most of them includes battery tweaks also they bloat free)
2. Install BBS and check what's drinking your juice... Some of apps are heavy drinkers (Facebook, Twitter etc....) so keep eye on battery after you install new app(s). Don't use Juice Defender, it makes things worse.
3. Disable Google Now & Locations (main juice drinker)
4. Install "Fast Dormancy Toggle" from Play Store and disable it. It safe to use. If you don't use 4g, change Network Mode to WCDMA only. BTW bad signal reception draining more juice as well.
5. Keep screen brightness on manual, as low as possible... obviously
6. Use inverted apps and dark wallpaper if possible, stay away from live wallpapers...
7. Only If you know what you doing, install app called" NoBloat Free" or any other similar app and disable/freeze unimportant processes draining your battery. (Exchange and Samsung Push Services are heavy drinkers)
8. AutoSync & NFC - OFF!!
9. Use Original Samsung 1A charger, don't use your laptop to charge phone....
10. Keep WiFi ON only if you need it. To make things easy, in Advanced WiFi settings, we have WiFi Timer. (can be used to keep it ON/OFF automatically, through the night for example)

No worries mate. Awesome speed!!! Here in UK You won't get even half of it on 4G!! That's why we're using DC HSPA+, it goes up to 20Mbps and you can have Unlimited data for £15.90 /pm!!!!!

Yea 4G in London is terrible, I know. I popped in to the EE store the other day to test out the speed. THEY DIDNT HAVE the speedtest.net app. I was like so how are we to test what 4G speeds we are getting? The assistant replied with a really condescending tone "I'm pretty sure such geeky app wont be needed for the average consumer". I replied, "So why do broadband suppliers advertise "Xmb broadband"? SO obviously people would want to know how fast their internet would be." fruking donut.
My mate was driving Through Auburn Sydney, And he got 75Mbps Down... I am based in Sydneys southwest On the edge of 4G & 3G+ coverage I average around 15mbps So
All I can Say is Telstra 4G kills it ay! haha Cant wait till they upgrade the coverage soon we may have all areas with this crazy speed
Deleted.. (damn phone)

ok and what am i supposed to be seeing there to know its on the higher H+ ? I can see the first line changing regulary RCC: DCH for about 4 seconds and then it went back to RCC: FACH for another 5seconds and I can now only see the 3G symbol and its sitting on RRC: UPCH I definately am not in a good area to test anyway so I guess ill play around when im out and about. Ill compare it with. But yeh like I said you can be in a middle of a test and it could of changed how would you know unless you have 2 screens one showing you exaclty what your on whilst your doing a speedtest

What is you Carrier? I´m on vodafone Portugal, they advirtise as being the only Carrier with 42Mbits DC HSPA but they seem to have that inconsistence with FACH and DCH as well. By the way, I looked it up, those are 2 types of HSPA+ (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_Resource_Control)

I've checked and look at screenshots. One is while downloading (Speed Test running in background) the second just connected (steady CPCH). On the bottom we have active connections... you can see 0 or 1 next to type of connection.

I am on Telstra Australia.. Well that makes sense As my phone was idle And i was staring at the screen. So I guess If i did a speedtest those mode will change.
But still It doesnt rectify the fact that while someone is doing a speedtest we do not know exactly what connection we are on as Carriers who offer DC also have Normal Hspa+ aswell and if in the wrong area it may switch modes while doing the test without even knowing
As that DC_HSPA will change to normal HSPA if you are not in the correct area, when I had that screen on i did not see DC_HSPA I only saw HSPA+
Edit : You see mine was changing from DC_HSPA to HSPA from one moment to another like I said you would have to be in a STRONG DC area to really test DC speeds

Hey guys, just got my note 8 after not having owned an Android since the SGS6 Edge and I'm noticing that my LTE and Wifi speeds are quite slow. I also own an iPhone X (business phone, please don't hate me) and on that I get well over 100mbps download on LTE and on wifi I get on average 70-90mbps download speeds. However after running speed tests on my note I'm only able to achieve 15mpbs or less on LTE and 40mbps or less on wifi. BTW I have an unlocked N8 direct from Samsung and I'm running on AT&T network.
Also I've done a fairly thorough search for answers already befofe making this post and yielded no helpful results. I'm not new to xda by any means so if there's a thread I've missed then please just direct me to it. Not my intent to create a duplicate post.

If you use the same wi-fi and your Note 8 download speed is lower than iPhone's X it means that either Note 8 connections are slower or there is an issue with your device.
Do you have any other Android devices to test with the same wifi network? If the other Android phone downloads at speeds similar to iPhone X's one, than there is an issue with your Note 8.
Did you get or was there a need to have the IMEI number of your unlocked device provisioned for use on the att network? In respect of LTE speeds.
Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
I'm not sure about IOS, but on android background apps can kill your speed scores. Try closing all apps and try again. I can go from 300mb down to 97mb with apps running in the background. Just using the recent apps->close all should suffice.
