Wrong section.
But first we must get fully functional 4.1.2 and 3.0.52 kernel!

I agree with u first of all this is in the wrong section and first we have got to get a fully working 4.1.2 JB and 3.0.52 kernel then we can proceed further !
I'm sorry I did not know, however, for ics was not so there was the parallel development

No we don't need 3x Kernel would be just better because of new possibilities and performance, but it's not a must. Look cm10 working very nice on 2.6x...
Xistance is trying to build cm10.1 lets see if it works

I think he was trying to say that first we must make the base stronger (both kernels have almost everything working) before we proceed to the next step
well, on the contrary a 3.0.x kernel is a necessity for android 4.2. i didn't have time to build myself to test, but i googled about it and found out that 4.2 requires ion and will not function with pmem. unfortunately 2.6 does not have ion support and has pmem. arco on his google + page has said the same thing. although we can get a working build using the latest 3.0.52 kernel, but without camera.
cheers

Yeah this is true. 3.x kernel is needed for this. Hopefully it got built correctly but I'm going to be out for a few more hours.

Yes they are! I'm learning java and Linux command to write camera drivers and compile the kernel with it...I know I'm a noob, but why don't try?

I do not get your problem...
We have a partial working 3.x kernel and a partial working 4.1 build, will not take long until we get it right and get CM0 to the level of CM9.
Well, here is the interesting part, xda is for developers and testers, users willing to sacrifice functionality and stability for... well... development! So normal users can use CM9, it is bug-less and with a ExOV - OC 2.6 kernel, it is a great device, better than what Samsung would have done!
I am now using Alpha 4 of 4.1 with kernel 3.x and I am quite happy
PS: You do know there is a 4.1 to 4.2 convertion pack, right? It gives you 4.2 capabilities on 4.1! Try it!

Android 4.2 has many bugs. A stable Android 4.1.2 would be nice and is a big advantage.

Hello,
To kick off this new year, I'd like to present an EGL binary from a test build along with a patch to frameworks base.
[-LINK-]
gralloc.default.so
libGLES_hgl.so
[-LINK-]
Some info on the patch:
Switch Looper to use poll() instead of epoll().
The TLS changes are necessary to work with the open sourced kernel.
See following for more info: [-LINK-]
EGL_ANDROID_swap_rectangle has been commented out as it's not supported.
Please let me know if you encounter any issues with the test binary.
Happy New Year and Regards,
David

I think he quoted this post from madteam forums:
http://madteam.co/forum/general-77/(dev's)(broadcom)-open-dialogue-with-broadcom/msg76394/#msg76394
Basically, broadcom has released an early version of the drivers we were waiting for to develop great ROM's such as Cyanogen
Now we just have to wait.

Why?
It's the same GPU so why should we need them compiled for this phone ?
Can't we just port the files, CM7.2 is also ported from the Galaxy Y ?
Can't you compile them ? You are a developer, aren't you ?
yes .. the driver is compatibility for 5830i ..

Hi there,
I just seacherd for dual booting at the 4x but found noting...
So is there an way to get a dualbooting system?
The developer scene for our phone is in the early stages and before we should think about dual boot we should go for completely stable ROMs and kernels

What do you think? Can't you see all the threads in the Development forums full of Dual-Boot discussions and solutions?
The O3D dual boot (but from SD , not internal) should work . But didn't try it (I don't have O4X) .
Google changed the mount point of the internal SD from /sdcard to /data/media .This made the dual-boot semi impossible from internal (because it has been EXT4 not FAT32) but if you have external SD dual-boot should be easy .

maybe im new or my english isn't that great, i don't see a single dual boot discussion or solutions in development.
i searched xda which gave me Android-Ubuntu dual boot guides. Perhaps you have a better pairs of eyes point me the right direction instead. im new here ffs.

Boot manager is a good solution for dual boot, if you have lot of space in sd, then it should work, check the compability list. Used to work with my evo.

Haha, I literally just sent a pm to kholk asking for a bit of help porting the kexec patch to this device. When ive got some time im gonna have a look into porting ubuntu touch (to be honest im completely new with porting roms etc, i just need the know how) shame that the previous attempers files are down, would be much easier to work from them.
But many thanks mate!

Yes! the inners of multiboot are working from a kexec call, this allows you boot into a kernel, load a new kernel into memory then reboot straight into the new kernel (to the same effect as flashing another kernel via recovery but when you reboot again you reboot back into the original kernel) so yes it is confusing

Performance doesn't decrease. Second, third, ... roms are stored on the NAND, access speed is the same.

MIUI is not open source, right? It kinda sucks and eliminates the main point of android, open source.

Right, and if it was open source would be less challenging to port.
