Id send the device back into lg, is it unlocked? defaulting to apx say to me you have a missing/ corrupt bootloader and without access to nvflash (thanks again LG...) and if is we cant fix it.
You probably got into apx mode by holding both volume buttons while rebooting.
If the phone isn't corrupt you should be able to get out of apx mode by connecting the usb to the phone while holding vol-
You better try several times, eventually you should be able to enter in sw mode.
I don't know if the method you posted will work because of the apx drivers, someone was working on them for the 04x but i think the thread wasn't updated in a while

Hey fella I have this problem too. The only way to solve is decrypt the Kdz file. So we can find the files to flash. My phone was dead for 5 months Already. Maybe we can help each other.

I was looking into NVflash utility but after the command "nvflash --sync" only get "unknow device found"
Can anybody help me please?.
How can I get into SW recovery mode or something that shows some activity from the phone?.

Solution
I had the same problem, first you have get into the post called [TOOL] Full Brick Repair (Clean & Easy) in development, download all the files and start your phone in nvflash mode, the bad data problem its because the usb wire, you have to use the wire of LG.

Hi @ all
I'm working on unlocking my bootloader
and it always get stuck on this "factory reset for first bl unlock" thing
and I think it is because of missing fastboot drivers ( possibly that's why it's working
on linux distros).
When my phone get stuck and I go into device manager in Win 7
there's a fastboot device with a yellow triangle (=missing drivers),
so do anybody know how I can get those drivers?
I already installed latest LG drivers (through LG Update Tool and from a external download)
and I updated adb and that whole thing but still no fastboot drivers
Are there any drivers available for our v20A yet?
Thanks for your help in advance,
you guys are awesome

you don't need the fastboot driver simply type adb reboot oem-unlock, the official way...

Youl'll find fastboot drivers here, in post number 17 by 'nedooo'. He attached them in his post. They worked for me!
Well I think you didn't get where I got stuck
I do the official way (or any other way) and I get into the
unlock procedure menu, then I press volume up
and it says "Download Mode" (in red) and nothing happens
but the fastboot device is recogniced in windows (without drivers).
If I unplug the usb before or after the download mode thing appears
it shows the next line (factory reset for first bootloader unlock ... please wait).
But then nothing happens
Tried plugging usb back in and power button but nothing happens after that.
So I think it's the fastboot driver

How do you install them? I run the Install.exe but nothing happens. I am running it as administrator too. And the FilterDriverInstaller.exe is in chinese so I don't think it's that one. Sorry if this is a super noobish question.
Edit: Don't. Just don't.... **** I'm retarded
Edit 2: I have the same problem (stuck on factory reset), but I can't seem to find the fastboot driver with the yellow triangle in device manager. Is it something completely else that's causing my problem?
Edit 3: Don't know why, but I now get the message Done... Now ready!
You guys need windows 7 PC to unlock the device. And make sure your PC have android fast boot drivers given by needooo installed in. If drivers in PC are not perfectly configured you can't unlock your device. Why windows 7? Known truth windows 8 sucks. You can't install fast boot drivers in windows 8
Not yet solved you must be missing something do as it is in the post.

4, now u have the latest and right drivers on your device.

Few posts before yours there's a link to fastboot drivers. Just install those manually. For me those where the only one working so you should give it a try
The problem seem to be that there are different fastboot versions or something similar.

Hello I have an unlocked Lg optimus 4x hd software version 4.1.2 JB. I recently successfully rooted it but CWM said there wasn't one available for my phone on the rom manager app so i found one. I would post a direct link to it but apparently im not allowed to yet.
I realised that this was realised almost a year ago after the fact, this probably is what messed my phone up.
I installed it and ran it, when my phone rebooted it was stuck in a boot-loop. I can still access the default android recovery screen and I tried hard resets and clearing the caches but I'm still stuck on the LG logo. My computer still says that its installing drivers when i plug the phone in but it won't let me do any thing. I have looked around the forums and the solutions i found aren't helping me. That's not a hard brick but a really bad soft brick (hard brick means you can't even turn it on in anyway).
Did you try with adb? Don't know if there's an option to but maybe you can delete /system etc. and then try to connect to lg software.
At least that's what I would do right now if you already tried every other method.
Edit: Please reinstall all drivers for the phone and the lg software manually.
Maybe a driver is incorrect (try that before the adb way)

I installed the correct drivers but nothing stays the same, when I want to list on the device adb mode does not detect it, what should I use key combination to enter ADB mode?
Try out every single mode you get into (S/W, LG recovery etc.) don't know which will get you to use adb. I for myself never had such a brick without having a backup, therefore I can't really help you at this point but try to get into adb or some recovery to install any kind of system.
Did you follow the instructions from a tutorial from XDA? Like the one for installing a kdz manually, maybe this'll work. Give it a try.
EDIT: Try the manual way to convert a kdz into a dz file as mentioned here:

did you try to force boot it into recovery? and i think that you might need to format the /system and /data partition trough adb and the try the kdz flasher ,for me it never fails with this tool ,you might give 20a a go too.
and what excactly fails with KDZ flasher?
And well.... flashing JB ROM over ICS STOCK probably wasnt good idea...

See this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1861942 I tried the method but doesn't work, pressing volume + and connect the usb to the pc does not detect the OMAP drivers, my OS is WINDOWS 7 Home Premium 64 bits, I think my last option is go the technic service and flashing it using a box.
NOTE: The Firmware of my LG O4X is V10A, when using your method, the firmware to install is V10H, must be the same firmware?
Thanks!

Don't spam! Your problem has already been answered. You can't unbrick a developer version device (at least not with casual tools/drivers)

Hi
I've been reading all the topics in here and trying many methods, but now im desperate, so i dediced to post here
When i try to run my phone the red text appears: [LG-Security] Error: Boot Image Signature!
I've tried to run http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=35971349 this guide, but when i plug off my battery i cannot get into s/w upgrade in my p880.
When the battery is plugged in I can run s/w upgrade, but my computer doesn't see the device.
Is the phone bricked?
Can i do anything to ressurect it?
EDITroblem solved - still don't know how, but after 5000th reboot it is just working without any other bugs etc...
it's bricked, you tried to install custom recovery without unlocking bootloader?
you can revive it using that tutorial. leave the battery in in order to get to s/w upgrade screen, but before that, you need drivers (and if your computer isn't detecting it in s/w mode, the drivers aren't installed)
It seems that you didn't install the proper drivers on your PC as it doesn't recognize it.

Yes, your device is (soft)bricked, and yes, you should be able to recover it. Try the LGMobile Support Tool. Run the tool and plug in your phone while holding down the volume down button (with or without battery). If it doesn't see your device, make sure you have all the latest drivers for your device installed. You can find them on LG's website. Then, try again and once found you'll have to force an update. You can find that option somewhere in the top right menu's. Then be patient.
I seriously doubt whether you have properly searched the forum, or Google for that matter, though..
