A little help /info - Jellybean? - LG Optimus 4X HD

I'm totally new to the LG world. I know my stuff with my Xperia (i test official PAC)
My girlfriend has the LG and it's totally stock on ics.
1- should it have updated to JB?
2- i read once on JB the bootloader can be unlocked?
3- is there a guide around to take it from stock ics to a rooted, bootloader unlocked with recovery state so I can flash 4.2.2 PAC on her phone?
Thanks for your replies
(i have tried searching but so much comes up for Jellybean i thought its better to just ask)

You haven't tried very hard to search. All the answers are out there, the only hint I will give you is that ICS is v10x and JB is v20x.

But jellybean is official? So how come she hasn't had the update?

In that case, read the guides ... Upgrade, root, bootloader, CWM recovery, custom ROM.

You need to LG Offical Update tool to get JB Offical Update you can find it on LG Web Site with instruction how to do it other wise google is your best friend.
There you go http://www.smartphenom.com/2013/03/lg-jelly-bean-4x-l7-l9.html
After that as @SimonTS said read, read, and read. It will help.

I found a V20A kdz file. Is that JB? I can't find 20X anywhere?
Sent from my 4.2.2 PAC powered Xperia S via Tapatalk

Yes 20a is JB there is no 20x.

Returnig Into Official ROM wihtou unrooting

I'm sorry, but I am very unexperienced in this matters. I installed the CM9 Nightly 6 ROM, but as some apps don't seem to work (and I need them to) I was trying to return to official LG ROM. However, I do not need to unroot my phone. How can I do this?
May I just connect to LG update Tool and do so?
Or is it a better way?
Any help would be appreciated
Thank you

I'm sorry again, but this was the procedure I made when I wanted to root my phone, so do you mean that if i do it again i will be back into firm rom?
And then will i be able to update it to the latest version available using lg update tool (this tool stoped working when i installed the custom rom)?
Thank you so much for the attention on this matter

Let me ask something else though. How do I get a Stock Rom to flash? because the link i found in this forum to the custom roms is .kdz so i do not know how to use it in smartflashtool. And also, how do I follow the root guide when the ROM I have is 4.0.4 and there is so such option in the root guide?
Thank you and excuse me
If u use one of those to root you will be back on stock. Even if you are on 4.0.4

And when i'm rooting, should i use the same files i used before and flash superuser or not?

Just to clarify, if i would exactly what it's said in the root procedure, i'll get back into an official rom from lg, that's right?
The last time i did this, it appeared in the system some apps in russian, but when updating through lg update tool, they'll be gone, right?
Thanks again

Hi,
u have to update to 4.2.2 stock firmware before flashing 4.2.2 rom! You can do this by flashing 4.2 Stock Firmware to your device using flash tool. You can find stock firmware here at xda.

Is 100% not possible. Both are different version. Merely jump from 4.1 to 4.2 without system apps, related files of 4.2 will get you nowhere. Make sure full wipe before flashing downloaded 4.2 stock rom. Good luck and cheers

Yes you can with a unlocked bootloader, flash a 4.2.2 kernel (dooms) and then flash custom 4.2.2 rom with full wipe this will give you your system files needed and kernel will recognise it and then boot

Where did the OP even mention custom roms? His post says he is on 253 and wants to be on 423.
It's entirely possible to directly update from 253 stock to 423 stock. One of the simplest ways is to use flashtool.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614
Just grab a 423 ftf from the general section and follow the instructions in the thread.

If you do indeed just want to update to stock 423, then follow the tutorial I linked you to. Look in the general section for a 423 ftf.
If you're actually talking about a custom rom, then still follow the tutorial, then follow the instructions in the thread for the custom rom you're using.

This is my understanding too. Bear in mind that as soon as official updates are released a developer here will make it available on xda. This means you often get updates before you would normally (because they are rolled out at different times depending on carrier and region).

[Q] Phone doesn't do anything, only backlight is on

Hi. My friend has an SP, it's stock and unrooted, and a few weeks ago the phone started to hang on black screen with backlight on. Of course he tried to reset the phone with the button under the battery, with no success. He returned it to the store, they only reflashed the stock rom, it worked for a day now it's the same. Has anybody find any solution to this? I tried to search for exact similar problems, but I couldn't find any with proper answers. I think he is on 4.3. Thanks for any help!

yes.. flash stock 4.1.2 ftf with flash tool.. if that not solve your problem then 99% is hardware issue..
btw i tell you to flash 4.1.2 and not 4.3 cause 4.3 is full of bugs..
You can follow this guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2658952 to do this... but i prefer u to install 4.1.2 (12.0.A.1.257 or 12.0.A.2.254).. if you install 12.0.A.1.257 then update to 12.0.A.2.254 with your phone not with sus.. cause with sus it will go to buggy 4.3 (12.1.A.0.266).. for 4.3 this week i think sony will release new bugfixing version
