[Q] TWRP not working - unable to find .zip files, unable to factory reset

i have recently rooted my HTC one, i was initially able to flash a bunch of different files after rooting. today i tried to find a zip file i downloaded with the intention of flashing it, however i couldn't find it anywhere when using twrp, while using twrp it says i have 0mb of internal storage. i tried factory reset and i get an error message saying that internal storage couldnt be mounted. what has happened to my phone!?
let me know what other information you need in order to figure out whats going on.

I had an older version but used my computer to flash 2.6.0.0, which didnt do anything. i then flashed CWM 6.0.3.3 (touch) using my computer merely out of frustration last night. Here is the process I used for flashing both imgs in case you were curious: shift + right click in the folder with CWM img, fastboot flash recovery "name_of_the_recovery.img," fastboot erase cache.
Once again, this didnt do a thing, I just keep getting the same error when i touch "choose zip from sdcard" ---> E: Can't mount /sdcard/

Would the encryption i have on my phone be causing this problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes that's the reason: your sdcard is encrypted.

Use adb, sideload the Rom you wish to use from your computer to the phone.
Sent from my One using Tapatalk 4
Or just connect your phone to pc while in recovery
Do "adb push Rom.zip /sdcard" (Rom.zip will be ur Rom zip file)

First of all: Get rid of this ****ing CWM, if you have a Google Play Edition installed, this will ALWAYS **** up your system.. and you won't be able to gain root without reflashing the system, install TWRP...
Here this rom should work quite fine:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2224752 (thanks @mike1986. for providing such awesome ROMs)
Then you boot into your recovery and push the ROM you downloaded above to your device with the following command.. maybe ensure that you mounted /data in the recovery..
Code:
adb push "C:\FolderWhereRomIsStored\rom.zip" "/data/media/0/rom.zip"
And if this doesn't work properly, try this command to copy the whole folder:
Code:
adb push "C:\FolderWhereRomIsStored" "/data/media/0"
Now flash the zip and you should have a working OS.. but another advice: Before flashing, delete /data and the cache etc.. to be sure that the phone will boot correctly
I hope it helped.. if it didn't post your questions and if it worked fine, hit the thanksbutton

Thanks for the elaborate answer. I tried twrp recovery a while back but it didn't work i got stuck in recovery mode so used that 'put phone under bright light method' to restart it and only the manual cwm seemed to work. So now?
As soon as i solve the issue will hit the thanks button

Tried this method and when i select sideload rom in the toolkit and press run command prompt appears saying "'C:\Users\Acer' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file."
oh and sideload in phone recovery says "failed to open driver control:no such file in directory" then sideload started "now send the package you want to apply to the device with 'adb sideload <filename>"..
Help guys, im feeling super bored without my phone! Will never mess around with roms again.. :/

Some time when your downloaded rom is corrupted you could get that kind of error. Sometime the recovery program could not access the extSD card you could get it too.
After you download the rom check whether it is corrupted or not. Some rom developer posted their md5 for their rom. In that case check the md5.
You could transfer the file to internal storage if you think your extSD card has an error.
Do the clean install every time ( wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, etc..)
When I upgrade my vivid to CM 11 from CM 10 I had to flash it twice to work.

Is your HTC-Vivid fully rooted? A fully rooted Vivid will show "S-OFF" at the HBOOT screen. (HBOOT is the screen that comes up when you hold DOWN VOLUME and POWER).
If your Vivid is "S-ON" you will need to be sure to flash the boot.img file using flashboot with every ROM install. If you are S-ON, are you flashing the boot.img from the ROM you are trying to install?

While you are correct about needing to flash boot.IMG while you are s-on, being s-off or on has nothing to do with rooting your phone. It is a completely different thing, and only required to modify partitions of your phone which could cause a hard brick if you do something wrong.

Really? I was told that certain ROM features wouldn't function without access to the secure partition. Hardware stuff like over/underclocking. Is that not true?
Over clocking and underclocking have nothing to do with s-off. Besides mucking with the radio, the only things that s-off really let you do is easily unlock your sim, and make a new boot screen (for example, I have a picture of the crab nebula instead of an HTC splash screen). And of course automatically and directly flash the kernel (boot.IMG) from the zip file your ROM is in.
